The Charlevoix is a cute neighborhood bar. I was visiting friends that lived in the neighborhood and we decided to drive over for a quick drink. Service was quick. The menu is small but has some tasty items to try. My friends order the wings and I ordered the lentil soup both of which we enjoyed very much. We also ordered old fashions but were a bit disappointed they didn't have a smoker. Nevertheless, they were okay. They did have a seasonal old fashion that we ordered after the traditional ones and we did enjoy that one much more. Overall, the place is very clean, the staff was kind and welcoming and the vibe was just what we needed for work night relax wind down spot.

The Charlevoix is not your typical neighborhood bar. Most bars seem to specialize in just one or two dishes, but the menu here offers both quality and diversity. Furthermore, the ambiance is hip and welcoming. I've had two of the cocktails; the Oh, You Again and the Hot Hot Heat. The former reminded me of a mojito, while the latter was a bit spicy for my liking. My go-to dishes are the buttermilk fried chicken mini and the burger. The burger is a Monday only special. In 2024, the Detroit Metro Times released a list of must try burgers, and Charlevoix's made the cut. To say the least, the spot on the list was well-deserved. Although the chicken sandwich is listed as "mini," it's larger than your average slider. It's topped with cucumbers rather than pickles. I initially thought that was odd, but it ended up being a nice touch. As for some other menu items, the sliders were enjoyable, with the highlight being the French onion cheese. I will say, I do prefer the burger. The fish taco was standard, but worth trying. The fried smashed potatoes had a good mix of flavors. The item's description on the menu provides a better idea of what you'll get than the name alone. The wings are some of the better ones I've had in the Pointes. The spam fried rice was absolutely delicious, as is the pork katsu sandwich. The sandwich is the most hearty of all the dishes mentioned. The Charlevoix spices things up by occasionally rotating menu items, and by announcing intriguing specials on social media. I do wish the tables had regular seating instead of backless stools. Aside from that minor critique, The Charlevoix has some of the best bar food in the Grosse Pointe area.

Had to update as it's been a couple years. I have had carry out from here during Covid and the food was great. I was excited to finally dine in on a rare night out. Service was friendly. It was very loud in the restaurant, but atmosphere was ok. To start, I got the "Oh, You Again" cocktail. It tasted like a class of cold limeade and nothing else. Pretty disappointing. Was still excited to try the food. We got the Thai Style wings, roast cauliflower salad, and pork osso bucco special. The wings were well cooked, but they didn't toss them in the sauce so they lacked flavor. The sauce was pooled at the bottom like they put it on after cooking as an afterthought and it dropped down the one section it was poured on. It came with stems of cilantro on top; had the herbs been incorporated in the sauce it would have been better. The roasted cauliflower salad had so much going on and still lacked flavor- we were not a fan. The pork osso bucco was served over grits. It was great and flavorful but was a pretty small portion for almost $30. Maybe it was an off night. I wouldn't go out of my way to try again, though after the great carry out experiences I wouldn't be too opposed. Still, if I'm paying over $100 for a dinner for two, I expected a bit more.

This is one of our favorite places. They have eclectic food and drinks that are always amazing. I start off with the Hot, Hot, Heat. A spicy little thing! We shared the coconut and collards salad which was so good I almost ordered another one. Lol. Next, we shared the Korean style pancake and that too was delicious. We ordered some sliders to go as they are always good! The service was just okay this time but usually it's spot on.

Great neighborhood bar, but so much more. Most innovative bar menu on the east side paired with great bartenders & a fantastic cocktail selection. Tonight we had the pork katsu sandwich & linguine with clams (don't think Italian-this is better). "Oh you again" is a refreshing summer cocktail. The collard & coconut salad is also a favorite. Modern music & friendly staff make this a local gem

This is a true drive out of the way spot, a destination in itself and not just a place you stumble across. You choose to come here because it is absolutely the right place to go. The vibe inside is immaculate, the wait staff is excellent, and the food was hot, fresh, and exactly what I ordered. Nick was the bartender and he was super friendly, prompt, and easygoing. This is the place. You will want to come here, and quite honestly, you need to.

Very friendly service, and great food! We enjoyed the arugula salad, it's simple and delicious. We also tried the crab cakes and the shrimp po boy. Both very fresh and perfectly cooked. For dessert we had the house cheesecake which was very creamy and a perfect ending to the meal. Will definitely be back to try those chicken wings and some of the other po boys

This is a "drive out of the way" spot, it's a destination, this isn't one of the stops along the way. You choose this spot because it's the right place to go to. The vibe inside is immaculate, the wait staff is top tier, the food was hot, fresh, and exactly what I ordered. Nick was the bartender and was super friendly, prompt, and easy going. This is the place, you want to go here. And quite frankly, need to.

Spent a Saturday evening here. Nothing too major to report. Sat at the bar. service was mediocre. Kitchen closes at 10p. Wine was alright.

Everything was delicious. The only thing I would change is how the carrots are sliced on the carrot tostada (it would be PERFECT if they were chopped to be bite sized) and it needs a bit of acidity to brighten it up just a bit ;a squeeze of lemon would be great. The Japanese wings are delicious and the cocktail (a man in the yellow hat) was perfection. I'd definitely recommend and return.

Fried potatoes with feta cheese, tzatziki sauce, and a big old mound of fresh dill. Outstanding.

I normally write my reviews throughout my dining experience. I sit down, take a look around, check out the menu. And, I start to write. But, Charlevoix didn't give me a chance to do that. I was in the middle of my check in when the food arrived. The review will have to wait. My oyster po boy was just about perfect. You can't see it underneath the bun, tomatoes, and chiffonade lettuce, but there are crunchy nuggets of awesomeness here. The remoulade works well with the oysters. You want to know how good it is? My wife hates oysters, but she loves this. My only knock would be the proportion of oyster to bun. I could have used another oyster nugget or two. The chicken sandwich has the same fantastic crunchiness, but it was in the small side. It's a bit larger than a slider, and not quite enough of you have an appetite. But, every bite was delicious. And...they don't have fries. Yes, I rolled my eyes when I heard that. Even though fries and ketchup aren't essential, I always think restaurants are making some kind of statement when they refuse to carry these staples. The bartender did direct us to their potatoes. They deep fry fingerling potatoes, and coat them with homemade tzatziki, feta cheese, and a pile of fresh dill. Wow is this good. Who needs fries? The Charlevoix occupies the space previously occupied by the Excalibur, a huge space with run-of-the-mill beer and bar food. The Charlevoix is modern looking, but with a casual vibe that encourages you to stay a while. The drinks are reasonably priced, and the food prices are not bad. The chef here shows some real creative chops, and there are half a dozen things I want to come back here and try. I also love that they have brunch. I look forward to updating my review when I have tried the rest of the menu.

I stopped in for 1 item. I saw a social media post with the Charlevoix Iced Coffee & was instantly interested! It's only served on Sunday. What's in it? Blackstrap rum, vanilla vodka, Buffalo trace bourbon cream, coffee liqueur, & Cafe Du Monde chickory blend cold brew. It packs a punch! They were out of whipped cream. I was looking forward to the drink I saw posted by The Charlevoix, which included whipped cream. That was disappointing. If this specialty drink is only available on Sunday, please also have the advertised topping. It was good, but likely would've been great with each ingredient. Service was fast & friendly. There's street parking on Charlevoix.
