Somehow it reminds me of these movies with hotels from the 1900' where people stayed at the seafront to enjoy life outside the city. The interior still maintains some of its original features. Luckily it has an elevator, as I would not wish to carry my luggage up all these floors. The room was to the back and it was quiet. It was clean, warn and had all necessary facilities. I especially loved the shower! The restaurant was closed for refurbishment, such I did not have breakfast. This was no problem at all as there are restaurants and a Costa nearby. I will be back when in Brighton.

In my opnion having weddings in a hotel is a great idea as everyone can have a good time and not have to worry about getting home. There are no phones in the room but they tell you to leave your number and the driver will call you when they arrive. I told them I have a US number and asked what they suggest. You would think being located next to an international airport, this situation had come up before. They finally decided to just give them the number to the hotel, and they would knock when the driver called. Though, they were unsure of the phone number to the hotel. I ended up just watching the tracking on my phone and sat in the lobby until our pizza showed up. What hotel doesn't have a phone in the room? Also, they do not have air-conditioning. It was 75 in the room and no ceiling fan. You could crack the window, but it was a very still night in London and that wasn't helping. They had a stationary fan in the corner but had automatic shut off on the electric plugs after like a half hour. It was warm and stuffy in the room. They have a phone in the lobby to order a taxi to the airport, and it was suggested I arrange transport the night before, as we needed pickup at 4:30 am. I called and arranged it. No one was there at 4:30. 4:45 we called again and we're told a driver was on his way. Well, he was , but he wasn't coming for us. Fortunately he had a van and could take us along with the man he was there for. It was a bit of a mess. For a trip from the US to Greece, with a stop in England and Spain, our time in England gave us the most trouble.

Tea facilities were what I would expect, there was a hairdryer at the vanity table, and a couple of chairs with a table to look out over the ocean. The bed was comfortable and the towels in the bathroom were also nice. My only 'complaints' would be that a lot of light came in in the morning, so I was woken up a few times by that, and the shower struggled to get warm. Breakfast in the morning was enjoyable, and check out was simple, with reception staff also being helpful despite the busy time I checked out at. I would like to stay again as it's a great location, not too expensive, and the rooms are clean and quiet.

To make things worse for them they overheard the manager describing their room as the worst in the hotel. The breakfast was all right but the evening dinner was served plated (unusual in a 3 star hotel) and was of minuscule portions with a poor selection of vegetables these small portions were made worse by being served on enormous plates. Nice polite staff and wonderful to sit on the terrace looking out to sea. Located at the east end of the promenade a nice stroll from the pier good job there was a bus stop outside the hotel as it was quite a walk to the shops, the buses went to Hastings and Brighton handy for over 60's who can use bus passes but service stops at 7 pm.

It turned out to be just what I had hoped to find, charmingly unpretentious, run by a warm and friendly couple of guys who were helpful in every way, from picking me up at the train station to helping me work out transportation to and from the performances and for my travel back (I decided to stay on 2 days after the operas, to get in a bit of local sightseeing and they were helpful there too) . The food was simple and tasty, and they made an effort to please individual tastes and needs. The room was simple and comfortable, with a charming view from the window of the downs, and the bed just great. No great chandeliers and snootiness, just friendliness, helpfulness and calm, exactly what I was looking for. I certainly will go back if my good fortune takes me back to that part of the world

The massage really set me off on a good note and I was looking forward to the rest of the stay. However, this is really were the good things about our stay ended. The room we got, which was booked as a double premium suite was no where near what we would have expected for the rate we paid. The room was in the eaves and quite a bit cramped. As I am more so on the taller side, this was clearly going to lead to a few head bumps. Fortunately, those we amazingly avoided. That left us with the evening ahead. Unimpressed by the restaurants menu and high price, we set out down the road for the Pantiles and found a great couple of places. After returning and settling down for the evening, things really turned for worse. The air conditioner made noises every 30 minutes or so when it wasn't on that would wake you up. The bed was exceptionally small and only fit two people if one lay sideways. The ability to properly sleep in these conditions was just unachievable. After a very rough night and lack of sleep, the relaxing feeling that I had was long gone and replaced with extreme tiredness and plenty of soreness. We are exceptionally disappointed with what can only be referred to a terrible stay. This hotel really had the opportunity to be top notch, but it severely missed the target. Don't think we would likely stay here again.

We got a large room with a comfy double bed, TV, Coffee/tea facility and an en-suite bathroom with Power Shower and bath! The Hotel is also located within walking distance of the Laines and about 10-15 minutes (if you don't stop for anything) from the Pier. For a little extra, we had a dinner and an unlimited buffet breakfast included and the food was constantly being cooked and added tooo! We had a wonderful weekend, the only problem being people on our floor were smoking, but a quick call to room service fixed that and the smell had soon gone.

The room too, hadn't changed. Everything you would need including hair dryer, ironing board and iron (my partner loved that LOL), flat screen TV, telephone, tea/coffee making. Comfy bed with plenty of pillows. Bathroom a decent size with shower over the bath. Breakfast was brilliant. Again, everything you could want. From cold continental breakfast to a full range of cooked repast. Most of the staff are Eastern European and extremely hard working and very friendly. For its price this hotel was a good deal. OK, downside. It needs a makeover. Very old and tired. As I said, I remember it from half a century ago and it hadn't changed. Light in the room not working so quite dark. Toilet difficult to flush. But, repeat, a good deal.
