We had the privilege of working with Matthew as our property manager and then Adam and his wife Kiersten as our realtors. We currently live in Florida and were nervous about trying to rent and then to sell our home in Wilson from so far away, but it was truly as painless as it could have been. We never had any problems with our tenants or with any communication from Matthew and the property management team. And once we decided to jump in and sell, Adam took the ball and ran with it. He was honest and up front about what our expectations should be based on the age and condition of the home and the market -- and he still exceeded those expectations! He and Kiersten had a buyer for us so quickly that we were amazed. From that point on, they continued to talk to us regularly and to answer any and everyone question. This was our first time selling a home and we didn't even know What We Didn't Know...you know? Adam was friendly, professional, and very personable. Kiersten is basically a superhero (she's a mom, too). I know that no one is going to be all things to all people, but my husband and I couldn't recommend more strongly the wonderful family at The Chesson Agency. If I could give them less than 1 Star I would. My fiancé and I were interested in two properties that this agency listed for their sellers. They refused to get back to our agent timely. In fact they had scheduled two different appointments to see homes, one backing out at the absolute last minute because their customer had a "dream" about an offer and the other not at all. We were greeted outside of the home we were scheduled to see by the owners who said, didn't they call you and tell that you we took an offer earlier today? No communication. The absolute worst. Mind you it was a 45 minute ride one way. Something stinks and I think it is this agency. read more

Lies of omission are still lies which should be explained to Mr. Jeff Chesson whose agents seem to have difficulty with Real Estate 101 lessons. Specifically his agent of 30 years Kathy Lineberger. This person is unprofessional and downright incompetent. If you are going to use Ms. Lineberger make sure you have access to teenagers who can decipher her use of "text speak". She uses this lingo not only in texts but also in emails. We made the mistake of using her on a recommendation from someone we will never ask for their opinion again. Worse than that was the fact that the seller's agent Mr. Williamson and Lineberger work for Chesson Agency which was not good for us as buyers. The house we purchased had been (on and off) the market for 18 months or more. We were making the purchase long distance as we were relocating from the West Coast to the East Coast. It was in the best interests' of the agents to omit the most important thing in real estate, the home inspection. The reason is simple as A/C units and many other costly items at end of lifespan. Gas leaks, roof leaks, no screens in many windows. Replaced 2 water heaters within 3 months of purchase. The reason we know it wasn't done though we were led to believe it had was there problems that were almost painfully obvious. My lady stepped out the side door and her foot went right through the wood. HOW? The stairs had rotted either due to water intrusion, termites, or both. We had to replace the entire front porch's floor boards. It wasn't cheap. My lady partner was there and started complaining to me about the stench she smelled in the house after doing laundry and a load of dishes. She immediately called a local company and $715 later she was told that the septic tank had never been serviced in the 8 years it was owned by the people we purchased it. Septic systems are to be serviced every 3-5 years. Guess the sellers who paid $55,000 more than we paid for it as they bought at the top of the real estate bubble.A window was cracked from the top to the bottom but wasn't noted on the home inspection! WHY? Oh, that's right the 30 year real estate veteran didn't do "JOB #1" by ordering a home inspection. Every time my partner asked about the inspection Lineberger got very evasive and then insisted that a certain home inspector did the job. When my lady contacted the alleged inspector he insisted he never did an inspection on our property we were purchasing. Lineberger got indignant when she got the call from my other half telling her "I spoke with Mr. P. and he stated in no uncertain terms he never inspected that house!" Lineberger's reply, "Call Mr. P. he does all my inspections!" Well she called and he stated unequivocally that "he did no inspection at our home." She is quick to use her medical problems as an excuse for things not being done. Ask her if she did something and the response from Lineberger was, "I have MS (Multiple Sclerosis)." So she uses her MS diagnosis as a convenient excuse. Truth is that she used it to try to garner sympathy. But if either of us mentioned her MS and the propensity for it to cause "cognitive dysfunctions" we were being mean. I was an Aeromedical Tech in the U.S. Air Force and I stay current with medical information and breakthroughs. According to Ms. Lineberger's own timeline she got her MS diagnosis over 2 decades ago. That is the time with MS that the memory loss and other cognitive dysfunctions occur, becoming more of an issue. The Chesson Agency website claims she is a "relocation" expert. Must be if you're relocating from a different county or within Wilson County. When making a large purchase and believing, foolishly in retrospect, that your real estate agent is going to be your "eyes & ears" and looking after their client's interests this isn't the realtor you want NOT WORKING for you. Where we come from there is a term for people like these, thieves. This property was on and off of the market a few times. Look at the transaction history. Previous owners bought at peak of the "Real Estate Bubble." This house was obviously intended as a "flip." As stated prior they bought at height of real estate bubble, paid $430k. Likely $100k over actual value. They priced it at $495k in Jan. 2014 no takers. Aug. 2014 they lowered price to $445k. No takers,off market. Apr. 2, 2015 back on market $495k, no sale. April 9, 2015 price drop to $430k, no takers. (one week later) Apr. 16, 2015 house taken off market as no one would pay $430k. In April of 2015 my companion Sara started looking for a home in east NC. She put an offer in at $350,000 in Oct. 2015 which was turned down. She should have ran away. Spoke with Jeff Chesson prior to filing a complaint with the NC Real Estate Commission about Lineberger's obvious incompetence secondary to her MS. He got defensive covering up for her incompetence. In NC don't waste time complaining to the NC Real Estate Commission. They side with the realtors. read more
