First, let me say, Fabiano and Ali (hope I remembered and spelled their names correctly) were very friendly and answered all my questions. I'm pretty experienced when it comes to shawarma, but I've never had one quite like this. There were some odd (for this type of dish) toppings that came with it and I'm glad I didn't exclude any of them. I always try to have faith in a restaurant when they put their own spin on an item, and boy oh boy, am I glad I didn't doubt the build of this wrap. It was a very unique blend of flavors. My aunt said the potstickers were just OK - the dumpling wrappers was way too thick. I thought they fried rice is actually very good. It had that wok/stirfried flavor that is so delicious. We did send back the vegetable dish because it was made with tofu that was tasting a little off. We brought it to the attention of the waitress and she promptly had it remade and provided her apologies. Service was good, and they have free Wi-Fi there as well. I wouldn't say this is the best Chinese food ever but it worked and satisfied my aunt's cravings.

My boyfriend was on the hunt for roast duck, but the nearby Thai restaurant, Sampan House Restaurant, didn't have great reviews. We set our eyes on Chong's, which was located very close to our hotel and had an expansive takeaway menu that included smoked duck, $24 for half, $46 for whole. We also got a small bowl of sour and spicy soup ($5 for small, $18 for large) and a small portion of steamed white rice ($2). The waitress quoted us 10-15 minutes, so we took a short walk around (the rather desolate) town before coming back to grab our food. The duck was pre-packaged in a vacuum-sealed bag (valid until Feb 5, 2018, so more than 2 weeks from today) and lukewarmly heated. Flavor wasn't bad, though it was too salty for my taste, so make sure you get some carbs to pair with the duck. The sour and spicy soup was indeed sour and mildly spicy, just like any ol' sweet and sour soup. Overall, not a bad choice for Chinese food that won't break your wallet.

The inside is gorgeous with two floors and a very clean, modern look. Interesting that most of the clientele was Caucasian. The menu is short and sweet; nibbly bits, soups, vegetable/salad, meat, seafood and desserts. The drink menu is standard but at least the bottles are reasonable. - Lepet thoke ($14.50 NZD) - tea leaf salad is a Burmese speciality. Pickled tea leaves mixed with lentils, nuts, sesame seeds and chili. Barely any heat nor much tea leaf flavour but still a tasty dish. Also, way too pricey for such a small appetizer. - 2x steamed rice ($3.00 NZD/person) - we weren't sure but turns out you can get free refills on rice. Sweet because it's steep enough for plain white rice. - Nga kin ($17.50 NZD) - a boneless fillet of fresh fish (grouper) baked in the oven. When this dish got dropped off, we did a double take. Smallest piece of fish I've seen on a plate. Fish was nicely cooked but plain. Luckily, the side sauce was BOMB; could have drank that on its own. It was sweet, spicy and tangy (a mix of soy sauce, fish sauce, vinegar, cilantro, chives and hot pepper). - Seit da nut ($16.50 NZD) - lamb curry cooked with lemongrass, ginger and curry leaves. You get three pieces; again, small portion but the lamb was tender and delicious. Wish that you'd get some vegetables with this dish.
