New to the area. Was just passing through downtown area around lunch and was starving. Stopped at a red light and saw The City Tap symbol on what looked like an old historical downtown building. Decided to wing it in there for a bite. Great downtown pub. The vibe in there is very cool. The deli sandwiches made with boar's head meats all sound great. Was in the mood for a Rueben. Was not disappointed. Staff was friendly and welcoming. If you're in the Pittsboro area you need to check it out. I can imagine this place has great live music and is jumpin on the weekends.

We had lunch here because they have the nicest patio of anywhere in our area. They have improved since our last visit. Everything looks the same, but it feels different. They seem more attentive and customer focused than before. They also have a better beer selection with a details about each one. The menu is the same but the food was better. Our only issue was that we thought the draft beer was not cold enough.

The Thursday night Burritos are a family tradition now. I hope they keep offering them. The food is always fresh. Service is great as well. A great local business that deserves our support.

Danny Gotham at City Tap - sorry about the photo quality - I'll need a real camera at a venue like this.

I agree with what Nicole M. said about the beer selection and the bar food. I liked this place enough to give it three stars! (Perhaps I should award it a bonus star for no TV?) The City Tap is an intimate venue for live music. We went to see Danny Gotham there on Friday night. The acoustics were alright, although the ambient noise was a bit distracting - even though we were sitting just a table away from the 'stage.' The man working behind the bar was going full tilt, as was the one coming around to wait tables... but the layout of the joint (think "shotgun" house) made passage slow and... well, intimate. They did a brisk business for Danny's performance. It was my first time at City Tap so I can't gauge the difference he made to their normal Friday night traffic, but they couldn't have done any better - there were just no other seats available. I wonder how that's going to play out in a week or two when he goes back there to play with a jazz combo?

I've tried this place twice and really like it. The first visit was several months back so details are fuzzy, but we enjoyed so went again recently. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar - he had a beer and I had a margarita since they were on special ($6 so no idea how much they usually are). Margarita was tasty, and I often dislike margaritas if I can taste too much tequila. Boyfriend had the turkey sandwich and I had the Italian - we both enjoyed. I only ate half but heated my other half up at home later and it was way better heated. I had chips and he had some kind of apple slaw that he loved. It's a cute place and I like the service. We had the same bartender both times, and she's not overly friendly and chatty (which I appreciate), but she is pleasant and fast which is what I hope for at restaurants. Will definitely be back - I want to try the Mediterranean which sounds fantastic.

Sat down and was greeted immediately ordering a water and sweet tea. Loved looking thru menu with so many good choices. We were going out for a big dinner later so this was suppose to be a small lunch. My wife ordered a cup of soup. I ordered a bowl of brunswick soup and a grilled pimento cheese sandwich. I could not finish the soup as the bowl was large and amount of meat in it was abundit. My grilled cheese was wonderful, I love pimento cheese. Unfortunately we could not try any of the soda or ice cream products this trip. The service is great and friendly. Restrooms are restored old school design. Will return to try other menu items and some Soda Shoppe product.

I was blown away by how attentive and friendly they were despite being super busy. For the environment, the place felt a bit loud and crowded - which for one was a testament to how well liked it appeared to be (we are visiting from out of state) and how they had to make very creative use of the space as they must cater to so many in a smaller space. It was also clean and quite nostalgic with lots of interesting old time memorabilia - and didn't try to go too cheesy and over the top with the theme though again was a bit too busy and crowded and could have maybe used a more highlighted 'less is more' approach to showcase the ice cream shoppe feel, the old time candy shop ambience, etc. I also loved that there were no tvs to distract from the ppl in front of us, and though time period music would be fun, it might have made it even too much louder. I appreciated very much that they seemed to want ppl to talk and enjoy the company in front of them. The fried pickles app was really good, and the dreamsicle style shake and curly fries - sooo delicious! The ice cream concoctions we didn't try, but saw delivered all around us were huge and fun and looked so good! The BLT was a bit dry and could have used a good mayo or sauce, and my sister's Hawaiian chicken didn't have the Hawaiian bun but it was unique and still not bad. Though with the soda shoppe name I had hoped for more unique or home made soda concoctions or offerings. Overall though- the food was mostly really really good; it seemed cute and beloved and very popular with the town; and there was a clear pride in the place - and very apparent love and appreciation of the customers by the staff which was number one in what I saw and was very impressed by. They just need and deserve a bigger space!

To be…read morehonest, it was our first time learning of them - but what caught our eye was the FRIED CORNBREAD on the menu. Sorry, if you have that on the menu - I NEED to know what you got going on. AND can I say, I am so so glad we did! The food was amazing! We ordered: Fried Honey Cornbread Smoked Banh Mi The 50Chicken Sandwich Wing Box Bang Bang Cauliflower Before tip - was about $70. The sandwiches and wing box came with fries - so we didn't order additional side of them. Honestly, we were taken back by how good the flavor profile of each item was. The two items that were the star of the show for us were: Bang Bang Cauliflower Fried Honey Cornbread Don't get it wrong - we loved all of the food. Each having its own ranking - but these two are the ones we all couldn't stop talking about especially the cornbread. Man, it is sweet, it has crunch, its warm, it pillowy soft on the inside. It leaves you trying to guess - what did they do to this?! and still waiting to have another piece. With the cauliflower, they had layers to them! Sweet, little spicy, the crunch EVEN with the sauce - where do they do that? I haven't come across such a thing when it comes to cauliflower being deep fried with sauce! Normally, they become soft quickly and just become so so. Not these! If you are able to try them out - please do - you won't regret it :) Next time, we are looking forward to trying the ribs and the 50K sandwich :)

I'm soooo glad they weren't there because I tried this food truck and now I have followed them on instagram and downloaded their calendar. We ordered the chicken wings with fries and a side of the cornbread my friend wanted, because I am not a cornbread person; until now! I tasted that cornbread after she insisted and I fell in love. It was so soft and delicious and the edges were so good. If we were going more places after the brewery, I would've ordered some to go. The fries were nice and crispy and the wings were good too. I believe we opted for the hot honey, but they weren't really hot! The lady was so nice and they cook the food fresh. I will definitely be stalking their truck!
