This washateria is great! I have been on a six week journey through various countries and have needed a washateria several times. This one is the best I have found. There was another washateria within feet of my hotel, but when I read the reviews for The Clean Brothers Laundry I thought it was worth the walk to try them. I was not disappointed. The staff is so, so nice and very helpful.The facility is small (8 washers and 4 dryers) but clean and well kept. The added bonus is that The Clean Brothers is located next to a great cafe, and near a lovely park and grocery store. So I got to have lunch, sit in the park, and do a little grocery shopping, all while my washer and dryer did the work. And a staff member was available to keep an eye on my laundry. Great place! The cost for a washer is 9 euros and for a dryer is 5 euros for 20 minutes. You can add 4 additional minutes for each additional euro you pay. my load of wash which included a fleece jacket and jeans, I paid 6 euros (24 minutes) and everything was dry. read more

Spent the last month visiting this beautiful city, staying in a cute AirBnB around the corner. As a light packer, I wound up having my family's clothes washed and folded 4 times at the Clean Brothers. The owner is Spanish and was extremely helpful and polite. We are on travel and needed a place to do laundry close to our hotel (walking distance). FYI we stayed at Sebastian's. The people who worked there are very friendly and speak excellent english. The payment machine gives change. FYI it's cash only using euros. You can also leave your laundry and they will do it. You operate the washer and dryer via the payment place on the wall and same place you put your money. Cost was 7 euro for each machine. They have laundry soap to purchase. We brought detergent and dryer sheets, so no need to purchase any. (Love the Convenience of the washer sheets. Easy to travel with...no mess) The place is clean and well managed. It is small, so you may have to wait a bit. Recommend using the medium heat for the dryer and I did 21 minutes for the time and it was perfect. The washer takes about 40 minutes. There is a cafe next door, so you can have a coffee, soda, wine and I believe a bite to eat. We'd use them again. So friendly and helpful!! read more

The lady is very sweet and that's all the positive things I can say... I've left my clothes for full service laundry and told to return next day to pick it up. My wife repeated twice "Please do not use hight heat, the clothes will shrink", the nice lady said "Don't worry, I know what I do". Today I've picked up my clothes and all my branded shirts shrank to the point they don't fit a 9 year old. I wear XXL large and they came back medium-small. Total damage of over 1,500 USD. I need as never so angry with myself for trusting someone like in this case. DONT LEAVE YOUR CLOTHES FOR FULL SERVICE!!!!!! read more

This place was super clean, it didn't cost much to do laundry, and the lady who runs it was very friendly. So friendly, in fact, that when it started to rain, I asked her where I could buy an umbrella. She thought for a moment and went into a back room, emerging with an old umbrella. She said that I could keep it and I thanked her profusely. I love when people do acts of kindness like that. read more

It feels weird to review a laundry. However, this place was great. Good machines and a quick cycle. My laundry was done in about an hour - 40 minutes to was and about 20 to dry. I did need a little help figuring out the machines, but the ladies there were nice. The price was also good. 6 € to wash (including soap) and 2€ to dry. Lots of machines, instructions in both Dutch and English, clean and tidy interior, reasonable prices. Plus, the owner has a cute granddaughter, if you need to be entertained while your clothes go round and round. My Dutch is rudimentary, and the owner's English is almost nonexistent, but we managed to have an amiable conversation about low-sudsing detergent. Bonus: Winkel is only a few steps away. Get some coffee and a piece of their famous appeltaart while you wait for your laundry to finish. read more

Great for traveling!! Instructions in Dutch & English. The wash was about €6 a load and dryer was about €2 a load. There are several bars and coffee spots you can go to while you are waiting for your clothes. The office was closed when we went (holiday) so we did it ourselves and it was no problem. read more

For all the out of towners like myself, excellent centrally located laundromat right off Prinsengracht. The gentleman who runs the place speaks English. Directions for people who want to do it themselves are very clear and self explanatory, or the owner will graciously help you. You have the option to leave it with them which is double the cost of your load, if you did it yourself. Super reasonable prices. I did two medium sized loads for 22 euros. It took about an hour to wash and dry there. As other reviews mentioned, several coffee/snack spots within 5 minutes, and on the same street is Winkel 43 so you can get a mint tea and apple pie slice. This was the perfect spot to come and get some fresh clothes back into my suitcase, highly recommend if you're in the area! read more

shop is very clean. machines are well maintained. the lady speaks English and will help with getting you going. wash is 6 euros and dryer is 3. she will do the wash for you for an extra 2 euros. I didn't go for that option only cause I wasn't going anywhere at 8 in the morning. there are a couple of supermarkets down the road close by. read more

Stay Away from this place! Or if you go, wash your own clothes, don't let Annie, who works there during the day, do your clothes for 9 Euros. I took a bag of clothes in one rainy July (2011) afternoon and somehow returned to the houseboat missing a $150 (at least) pair of jeans. Annie denied from the start that the jeans were amongst the clothes I dropped off. Then she was informed that I saw her put the jeans and some other clothes back in the dryer (she was doing a rush job -- not the 45 min. dry -- her choice, not mine -- and folding items as they dried.) She changed her tune and said that she cleared out the dryer before she left at 5:15 pm and there was no way she left them or put them in the wrong bag because no one else was there. Wrong again. She was informed that there were others in the business and other clothes on the table where she was folding. Okay, she said, she was adamant she gave the jeans back. She didn't. Do I think she stole them? No, but do I think she left them and someone scored a nice pair of jeans, yes. The place is open for self service into the evening and at least one hour before any employee gets there. I went the next morning right when the business opened and the dryers were empty. I went several emails with the owner, but no luck, despite the fact that her employee got her facts wrong from the start. The owner didn't feel like it was her responsibility for her employee's actions and crappy service. So I am out a $150 pair of jeans and 10 Euros (yeah, I regret that 1 Euro tip now!) It was nice the owner exchanged emails with me, but really, she didn't email me until after she knew I was back in the US, despite a promise that I'd hear from her before I left Amsterdam. There's not much a tourist can do... so all I can do is warn people traveling to Amsterdam or those who just hate to see businesses screw customers over, STAY AWAY from this place. read more
