He invited me to a joint session. First thing, I was greeted with a 2 sided page with a list of more than 100 words and phrases in small font that were considered "red light" words that I was not supposed to use. So right off, I was hesitating with every sentence so that I could check the 2 pages and use the "green light" words. Later on, when I started crying, John sat back, rolled his eyes, and said "oh please!". I said to him - "are people not allowed to cry here?". He then started to tell me he's not a male chauvinist; the "proof" is that he's married and has daughters. That doesn't prove anything. The last straw was when I was talking a lot, he held up his hands in a time out gesture, in a T, hitting the top hand on the bottom hand. I said "wow what was that?". He said what's wrong with that? I didn't do this - and he stuck up his middle finger. That was it. Never went back. Needless to say, he did not influence my husband in a positive way. I am a medical health care provider, and have been to therapy myself. This was very inappropriate and unethical behavior for a therapist - actually for anyone!

She was able to tailor each session to specifically work through each obstacle I was dealing with. A lof of other therapists let you vent/rant/ramble on but Dr. Goldman is really good at steering the conversion back to the main topic and actually closing the loop on so many of the topics brought up.
