The Clubhouse is your nicer version of a pub. It's a big building, consisting of several areas. The main dining room is a bit outdated in my opinion and lacked atmosphere. However, it was buzzing with people on a Monday night. Mind you about 70% of those people must have been seniors. The bar area is big and fairly modern and leads you to their gaming area with around 20 pokies. The terrace out front is quite nice and because the Clubhouse is located just off the main road, it isn't noisy at all either. We only came here for drinks as we didn't fancy pub food that evening but their menu was quite big and consisted of a variety of burgers, schnitzel, chicken, prawns.. Let's say there is certainly something on the menu for every taste. Decent pub with a lot going on (specials nights, happy hour) and your cheaper option to some of the more fancy restaurants in and around Tanunda.

Cocktails were all $30 - quite steep for this level of table service and setting. We had no drinks that night and decided on several appetizers and one large plate. We started with the crispy spring rolls - 3 to an order - which were served interestingly with a soy dipping sauce and not a sweet and sour one as is customary. It was different and good. Next we had the roasted pumpkin with labneh and pumpkin seeds. It was basically one small to medium wedge, well roasted and sliced and although tasty, not worth $18 AU. Next we had the Asian dumplings. They were beautifully plated and had just enough garlic and ginger in the pork filling. The sauce served with them had too much oil for my liking, the soy portion underneath the oil was just right. They were so tasty my better half ordered a second plate of them. Last and best was the crispy pork belly with Thai coconut sauce - it was almost like a curry - the fish sauce was very noticeable in a good way. The pork was tender and moist with crispy skin and the sauce was really delicious and well balanced. The dishes were all garnished exactly the same way with herbs, sliced scallions, cilantro and Fresno peppers. It would have been nice if there had been a bit more variety given the pricing. The flavor of everything was good however the pricing is too high for me to return.

The decor is modern minimalist with an open kitchen in the restaurant area and a bar area next to it. Staff were very friendly and engaging with the service being prompt and efficient. The tapas style menu is varied with contrasting styles and flavours. We ordered three dishes between us being the grilled Harvey bay scallops, the wild mushroom arancini balls and the roasted cauliflower with chick peas and lemongrass. All three dishes were outstanding and more than sufficient after a busy day in the wineries. Dishes averaged at $18 each. They also have an amazing variety of 36 pure malt whiskys and 22 gins which took up the whole wall of the bar not to mention the local wine list. Overall an enjoyable evening and would definitely return.

Okay, it is located in a rather touristy area, and it certainly does have some charm as well. I thought that the scnitzel was, well, really, really good, but it also went further than that to have some nice beer selections as well. Yeah, this is certainly one of those pubs that I have no problem whatsoever returning to.

There were only three other tables of diners, but had to walk around the front to find staff to take orders and pour drinks, so we ordered a beef schnitzel with garlic prawn sauce and a beef schnitzel. So far so good, about 40 minutes later a table that ordered after us got their food...we waited...after about 10 mins more a bored waitress came in and the chap at that table said he had the wrong meal, a beef snit with garlic prawns...so I said i think that was supposed to be mine. She took his meal back and 5 mins later I received a piping hot (microwave?) beef snit. The guy at the other table looked and laughed that it looked familiar. My wife then received different meal than she ordered but by then we just wanted to eat n go. Between that, no aircon, 10000 flies not a hint of an apology the Brauhaus can suck it! What a dump.

We dropped in with 10 people unannounced and the staff were more than happy to set us up with tastings and give detailed explanations of their beers in spite of being obviously busy. There were a few issues with taps being out and a wait for some people's tastings but the friendly and engaging staff made up for this. The beers and ciders were all delicious. Even the stout that I usually won't touch was lovely. I'd recommend the bee sting which, incidentally, has apparently won a bunch of medals. The tasting plate costs as much as 2 pints, so despite it being costly compared to free wine tasting, I found it to be worth it. It was good to break up a day of wine wine and more wine, and was particularly enjoyed by those in our group that aren't huge on wine appreciation. I'm looking forward to going back so I can match some of their beers with their tasty looking menu.
