Having now lived in Headingley for a few years I used to visit Sainsburys for my weekly shop, even…read morebefore it was a Sainsburys - when it was Somerfield. Essentially, there isn't a great deal of difference between the two companies in terms of my weekly shop. There are a few items that were most definitely cheaper when it was a Somerfield - smoked mackerel, some of the fruit and veg items etc - but there are some Sainsburys features that were not there and are quite good. One of those is the 'feed your family for a fiver' leaflets, which are really quite useful! I picked up one for lamb pitas, which is really good. It's cheap, tasty, different and of course I've embellished the recipe in my own way to make it suit me. The staff seem to be the same staff as before, which is great, as they have always been patient and helpful. They have new 'self service' counters, which can be useful if you only have a couple of things and don't wish to queue. They can also give you the rage of Zeus when they accuse you of an "unexpected item in the bagging area!" so use with caution. All in all, I'll always shop here as it is most convenient for me to access. But it's not an unpleasant place to shop for your goods so I'm happy.

As this is the only supermarket near to me i dont really have much choice but i love the supermarket anyway and dont think id shop anywhere else. This has everything i need under one roof and the store is clean and tidy and spacious with lots of choice. The prices arent the cheapest on some but then i do like brand makes - they do offer a value own brand if you want them offering a very good choice. They have a salad bar (with sneeze bar but still dont trust them) or you can go get lots of fresh salad items and make your own. They usually always have a good stock of fresh food which is updated constantly through the day. The staff are lovely and will go see if they have anything you request if it isnt out. The deli/meat counter is good and they offer a good choice for you. The chicken and pies counter is also a good buy with various meal deals to be had - the chicken is quite dear but they do a budget full size chicken which is gorgeous. They make fresh cream cakes/buns/pastries, etc and bread onsite which is lovely. They also have a butcher who will cut a piece of meat for you how you want or a fishmonger who does the same. All in all it is everything you could wish for under one roof at reasonable prices. The cafe is a bit slack in the service and the prices are a bit steep and admittedly the food isnt the best but you cant have everything. The queues are horrendous as there is only one till to pay for everything. They also have secure trolley bays incase you want to leave your trolley while you go somewhere else. Inside the store there is also a travel agents, bank, chemist, bagshop, cardshop and dry cleaners. The toilets could do with being checked more often and there is usually one or more out of order - there is sometimes a big queue for them.

It's a cheap, magic, slapdash place. I still won't be shopping for all my regular bits there, as it doesn't quite work for a whole shop in one, but I will be going in for cheap surprises. The queues are a bit of a hassle; I agree with Chris in that there's quite a pressure to get your goods packed up and out of the way in Superman-like speeds (which I always fail) but other than that it's grand. For example I got a whole lot of veggie lasagne and veggie burgers for a ridiculously small amount of money, and their value fish fingers are usually cheaper. I don't usually fancy their chilled dairy products - I don't quite know why, maybe I'm just a snob. But my local branch is clean, tidy and the girls on the till are pleasant, and when the offers are good, they're great. What are you waiting for?

Oh Waitrose. My…read moreolder brother seems to think that I've got my priorities wrong as a relatively new graduate who is a little bit unemployed shopping in Waitrose. But he is missing the finer supermarket shopping experiences in life. It is often accused as the middle class, overpriced spot to shop. Whilst there are your fair share of fancy cars in the car park and mummy's debating which brand of gourmet baby food to buy it is one of the gooduns'. As supermarkets go Waitrose seem to treat their staff well, support local community, have a wider range of products available and all in all appear a friendlier place to shop. Split your shopping between here and some local places for fresh produce and I don't mind spending a few extra pennies for some happier faces.

With your first order you get a free bottle of wine and a welcome pack. They also send you money off coupons for your next three orders. They do substitute your items if they don't have what you want in stock, but when the driver arrives he goes over them with you - they allow you to inspect it and if you don't like it they will take it back and give you a refund. I think you can select not to receive substitutions though. The Waitrose own brand is of good quality so it's not an issue. I don't think it's all that snooty or expensive. I think it depends on the choices you make when you shop. Alot of grocery stores are doing price matching these days so I think aside from shopping at Asda its comparable to shopping at Marks or Sainsburys.

This branch of Sainsbury's is a fairly impressive store, it is located on Marsh Way and is…read morebasically apart of the Trinty Walk Shopping Centre, it is located in the same part as ASDA George and Next, with a few places to shop and eat upstairs in a lift, just outside the store. I really like this branch of Sainsbury's, however as much as I'd like to give it a high three star rating, possibly even a generous four I can't for the following reasons - Service - Price to park - Opening Hours I will focus on each one individually Opening Hours: The store is only open between 7am and 10pm, I feel this is quite restrictive especially for a large supermarket, with many of them normally staying open until later, for example Tesco stores now are often 24 hours, especially stores the size of this one, and my local branch of Sainsbury's is at least open an hour longer most days until 11pm. Parking Charges: With the store being located in a retail park, you have to pay for parking which is around 80p an hour, in my opinion this is disgusting for a supermarket, and the fact it is located in a retail park might make the traffic and length of time getting in and out be longer too, even the Sainsbury's marked car park is charged which I don't understand. There was no signs for a money back scheme if you visited the store which in my opinion is a real shame and is putting off people perhaps to go to this branch, perhaps they might go to a rival. Not a smart move! Service: The staff once again seemed dis-interested, they didn't seem the most engaging and willing to help which was also a shame. Going back to my regular review, this store did impress me especially for gluten free selection, they sold the fresh bread (small baguettes and bread) at the bakery, which some stores do including my local branch at Heaton Park, however some do not. They also sold a good range of gluten free products, some I've found quite rare and hard to track down such as the full range of the Newburn Bakehouse by Warburton Artisan breads, I managed to pick up a tiger bread I was pleased about. The gaming selection was satisfactory, but it was merely average compared to other supermarkets, I found the prices to be on a tad of the pricier side when compared to rivals such as Amazon and more direct competitors in Tesco. The store is also nice because it just feels slightly modern when you look at it from the outside, especially towards the front of the store, but it just feels like a typical Sainsbury's as you walk around, perhaps similar once again to my local branches of Heaton Park and Oldham. This branch is okay, but as previously mentioned I sadly feel it is only a mid to high two star standard, with the service, opening houra and car parking charges seriously letting this branch down. UPDATE: After some consideration, this is quite a nice store and one of my more preferred branches of Sainsbury's, and it does deserve a slightly generous three star rating however some factors really do let this store down, as I discussed including parking charges through the location in the Trinity Walk Shopping Centre.

This is a medium sized branch of Morrisons and one of the better options for a super market in…read moreLeeds city centre. Most of the facilities you'd expect from a supermarket of this size are available, including butchers, bakers, fishmongers, deli counter, and so on. The branch is large enough to house a certain amount of home ware and some clothing as well as a section for magazines, books, DVDs and games. Perhaps because of the slightly strange shape of the store, the alcohol section is accessed separately with its own entrance and set of checkouts. I suspect this probably makes things slightly more efficient. Staff are generally helpful and friendly, although the store is well enough laid out that I haven't often needed help to find things. The only thing the store is really lacking is a cafe, but given that it's located in the city centre and within a shopping centre this isn't really much of a loss.

This Morrisons has a lot of good points. It stocks a decent range of products, including 'Free…read moreFrom' stuff, and it's got a good homewares section. The main downside is that it's incredibly busy at peak times, which unfortunately, is when I want to go - at lunchtimes or just after work. It's also quite tired and lacks a customer toilet. The booze section is kept seperate from the main part of the supermarket, which is convenient if you just want to nip in and grab a bottle of something for a tipple after work, but on the flipside it's quite annoying when they have offers on that require you to spend £x in one transaction and they won't honour the two purchases across two tills, even though if you had exactly the same trolley of shopping at a supermarket with a booze aisle instead you'd have qualified. Anyway, needs must, so I'll continue as a regular customer, it's really handy for work, and stocks a great range which puts it ahead of your 'Express' and 'Metro' type stores in the city centre.

My mum also said they are one of the only shops where you can buy roasted peanuts (not the DRY roasted ones you get in the pub). Apparently that's important.

With 3 children I find I can't buy everything I need from this Waitrose even though it's a pleasure to shop here.
