Basically, the thing to do is to ask directions to the library because the cafe is in the same building. It's not far from the shops or the castle - just tucked into a small side street behind. A great place for vegetarians (they claim to offer 80% veggie dishes), and some vegan choice too; there's also soya milk for tea. Mainly snack-type meals like filled pitta bread and salads, but the presentation was superb - they must have a very good trained chef! (See examples from the menu on the website) The woman who served us was very friendly; the place is bright and clean and the prices were quite reasonable too. We would definitely go there again.

This bakery kind of reminds me of the McDonald's Bakeries in Glasgow (no association with the burger place) with their chelsea buns, turnovers and sausage rolls. We ended up buying a black pudding and steak pie, a cheese and onion pasty, a macaroon and an apple turnover! Everything we bought was really tasty and was really affordable as well. We did notice that they do have a cafe where you can order all sorts of prepared foods and they also have a small chippy area where you can order a fish supper or chips. The staff here are really friendly and welcoming just like most of the people we encountered on our visit to Bute. We'll definitely be back again!

It's often a very busy place as half the shop space is given over to the bakers, where you can buy fresh bread, cakes and pies to take away, and there is usually a queue.
