Cleveland Montessori stays true to the Montessori method outlined by Dr. Montessori, and in these turbulent times, especially in the public education and curriculum space, it is comforting to know that my daughter is learning from the time-tested materials. The other thing that is important to me about raising children in our culture is that the school is screen-free. The children have a warm, analog space to love to learn for a lifetime. Lastly, it has to be noted that the school is housed in a century-old building with character, nestled in historic Little Italy blocks away from University Circle, and they walk (in all weather) to a fabulous playground in the neighborhood! Gabrielle has an incredible amount of patience, positive energy and a kind, encouraging approach toward children. Mine learned an incredible amount in just two months. The progress was especially noticeable with my younger one (seven years old), who went from almost no knowledge to being able to communicate independently in English after two months. The kids practiced the language actively every day, which is why the results came so quickly. In addition to learning English, they also became more familiar with American culture, gaining valuable insights into everyday life in the U.S.. A student that I know from a co-ed Bible study group invited me for free lunch because he had many meal swipes left. Strosacker Hall is a nice building. The outside has tall pillars and is nice looking. Besides the cafeteria for dining, I noticed other offices insides such as a Women's Center. FOOD (5/5) -- For a college food hall, the lunch that I had was actually good. There were several options to choose from such as sandwiches, rice with protein, and I think I saw pasta and meatballs too. I got rice, bell peppers, and beef along with Bundt cake and a cookie for dessert. I also got apple juice in a cup. The beef was well cooked and seasoned and it went well with the rice. The green and bell peppers provided an extra crunch. I enjoyed my lunch. I also got a to-go box with a turkey sandwich and delicious crunchy chips (not bagged chips but homemade) plus 2 cookies because another student swiped her meal plan for me since she had some let over.
