When I moved to PA back in 2011 I had my mind already set on NEVER joining another church because…read moreI came from a extremely broken, divided & disloyal church in the past in NY. That church left an horrible taste in my mouth. Through out that time I faced MANY challenges. I lost many things and then gained them back but it wasn't easy. During that time I also Church hoppedd whenever I had a free Sunday. I visited at least 7 churches here in my area. CLA was #5 but I wanted to keep ALL of my options open without settling to quickly. I came from a little tiny church in Brooklyn,NY that had at least 30 members each Sunday. If you wanted to-join you just had to get baptized there and u were a member. I know, simple right? I got baptized when I was 14. Which at the time seemed right, because that's all I knew. TBH I didn't understand it AT ALL. It just felt like something "Good to do". It wasn't until leaving that church that I actually felt like I knew #God more. (Strange isn't it?). I preferred small little churches because I felt like everyone knew each-other & were more of a family. So attending CLA scared me a bit because they have over 100 people that attend on Sundays. I honestly felt like I would never fit in there. The 1st time I went, I enjoyed the service so much I said I have to keep going. The spirit was so high that Sunday morning & the feeling that I got was just indescribable. I wish I can tell you in more words but you honestly had to be there to witness how God moved through that church that morning. It wasn't until my 5th visit that God said to me "This is where u need to be". I honestly said "God are u sure?"Lol. So that following week I called the church about becoming a member and there secretary stated "You just missed our New Member Orientation, our next one won't be until next Fall". That didn't discourage me. I just took it as #God saying "Alexis not ever, just not now".So I kept attending church each Sunday. I wasn't treated like a guest AT ALL & I was welcomed each Sunday like I've been going there all my life. That played a big difference from all of the churches I visited because normally the guest don't receive a warm welcome. My #faith became #stronger, I stopped stressing over little things, I learned to forgive a lot easier & let go everyone and thing that hurt me etc. During that time I learned about CLA a lot more & how they choose members for there church. It wasn't just about getting baptized & putting your name on the list. They actually got to know ME which I thought was amazing for a mega church. I also had the privilege of learning who everyone on the committee was. They cared, they reached out & they just treated me SO well. On the day of orientation that was almost 4 hours lol but worth it. I was told that everyone may not receive there certificate this time around. So when I got called up that Sunday in front of the church I was #grateful & beyond #thankful that they saw God in me to choose me to represent them. I'm telling you that if your own your journey with getting closer to God or even coming back to God. It is very important that you find a church home. I'm not saying that in order to be a "perfect Christian" you have to attend church. That's a fat lie within itself because no one is perfect. What I'm saying is the having a Church home and being in the atmosphere of God is such a deep feeling that again is Indescribable. I'm telling you, the joy that I now have on the inside makes me SO full that I want everyone to experience this joy. God is using me to my full potential & I'm beyond grateful. This joy and the bond that I now have is unbreakable. It wasn't until I gave #God complete control of my life & the keys to my heart that made me realize he honestly was the best thing that ever happened to me.
