I agree with everything Doug K said. I cannot understand all the bad reviews. It's a wonderful…read moreprogram. You get out of it what you put in to it. I went there for depression and a dependency to pain killers. First, the grounds are beautiful and relaxing. It doesn't make it feel like a mental hospital. I have never seen any hospital with grounds as amazing as Silver Hill's is. It makes you feel warm and welcomed. Second, the staff are amazing. Everyone at intake was very nice and accommodating. The process was quite quick too. As soon as I was brought to the unit (Main 3) I was greeted with a very happy nure who was very nice. I came to the unit crying and she spent time with me to calm me down. Then, there was a psych tech who gave me a tour of the unit and gave some helpful advice. My doctor, the nurses and psych techs were all wonderful people. My doctor took the time to expain my diagnosis and my medication. I asked to be put on an anxiety med that I had before and she was fine doing that. She checked in with me everday. There were groups everyday, all day long. I listened, participated, asked questions and took notes. The psych techs would run a group at night where we would say if we met our goals for the day, why we didn't and what can we do better next time. I was able to get off the unit to go to the gym and outside for breaks. You are also allowed to use the inside pool. By day 3 I was feeling so much better. I left feeling like a new person and I still refer to all the notes I took while there. Silver Hill hospital helped me more than any other hospital did. The social worker was on top of his game and gave me an excellent after care plan. The quality, compassion and professionalism I received from the doctor and nurses and techs was top notch. It isn't a country club but I can see how people would view it that way if they're coming from state hospitlas. As far as money is concerned, our insurance paid for my whole stay so we just had to pay a $1,500 deductible. If you have bad insurance I can see why you'd be upset and blame the hospital but they have no control over insurance. They allowed me to pay my deductible over a period of several months so they are accommodating. I've been to New York Presbyterian Westchester in White Plains and let me tell you, Silver Hill is way above them. At NYP there were no groups. You basically just sat and watched tv all day and you saw your doctor every 3 days. The only complaint that I have is that the houeskeeping staff kept taking our coffee in the morning. We only get 1 canister of coffee with caffeine a day and they took it upon themselves to pour themselves a cup of coffee.

I have false promises from her, verbal and in writing, of a refund that is 'processing'. I do not require whatever level of care they are portending to dole out. This place must be run by desperate quacks on their best day. This facility is going to be facing a lawsuit for fraud if they don't act quickly. I have multiple voicemails and endless calls in. I won't stop until this issue is resolved. Hear me now.
