We like this place when we come through Marshall. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and the food is good bar food. I don't drink anymore but none of our family or friends complain about the beers. Went based on reviews and input from others that live in the area. Daughter and SIL are moving to the area and we love Schuler's for quality food but really hoped to enjoy this place for a fun atmosphere. I also heard they rent out space on the second floor and was going to inquiry about that for a party this summer but after today's experience, hell no! We went in and sat at the bar, ordered a drink, simple one with Tito's but it was wrong. That's not what bothered me, the fact that so many ppl walked by and never asked about it or asked anything says something. Also got to hear a lot of complaining. Isn't that what you love? 99% certain the person 18 inches in front of us, working was complaining about a drink made for a customer. They didn't like it and his response was that they could leave. I did call him out on that, you can tell I embarrassed him and he said he was talking about a co-worker. I'm pretty sure he was trying to cover, I know what I heard but he was embarrassed. It has been years but I've been a server, bartender, etc. the conversations are going to take place but you don't do it directly in front of customers. read more

Traveling through Marshall today we stopped in based on reviews. It was 6:15pm. What a let down. Walked in and no signs said 'seat yourself' or 'wait to be seated'; we waited a few minutes and the lady says 'you can sit anywhere' in an annoyed tone. She wore a black hoodie and had brown hair. Ok, don't need to be rude about it. No welcome or hi. We should have left then. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries, a side salad, side of Mac and cheese and a couple drinks. First, the Mac and cheese for $4 is a joke. It came in one of those containers you put a sauce in like ketchup, etc. $4! That's crazy. The worst part was the pulled pork sandwich. I'm not sure how they accomplished dry pork, but slathered with nasty mustard, grease, and apple cider vinegar. No hint of bbq sauce whatsoever. The grease with mustard was all over the plate leaking all over the fries. Really wish I took a picture. In the end we ate a few fries, paid our bill and walked out. Stopped at Arby's which actually had better service and food than here... if the owner reads this review, you need to check this waitress and the cook that worked the evening of 5/15. read more

Their BLT is killer. I came in here with my boyfriends family while visiting Marshall and we stopped in on a Thursday night, so the place was decently active. We had a great spot in the booth so prime visual of the TVs and the rest of the restaurant. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating and our food didn't take too long. My BLT came with an aioli sauce which was so tasty. If I happen to come here again I would definitely order the same. It was clearly a popular spot with the locals too. read more

The space is a little small but it's such a great balance of upscale vibes mixed with the casual mixture of sports with the memorabilia on the walls and the TVs. We split split the Gouda BLT and it may have been the best sandwich I've ever had. The staff was friendly and helpful, offering us some extra plates as we split our meal! My only complaint is not having seating arrangements for smaller parties - I felt bad taking a six seat table for two of us! But such a small nitpick for a great place. One of my go-to places in Marshall. The Copper is a small bar restaurant downtown with a great atmosphere. They have a good menu with tasty food, and a decent selection of craft beers. The staff is very friendly and goes the extra mile. Always a smiling face. You can either park out front on the street, or the city lot out back. This place is an interesting blend of locals dive bar and boujie craft cocktail bar. Decent selection of tap beer and nice selection of liquor. Relatively recently built out from what I can tell, definitely clean and well maintained. 7 TVs with sports on, fun music and an absolute gem of a bartender named Sarah serving obvious regulars. Detroit style bar food, and man do they do it well. Wings are hand breaded, if you get the garlic parm, make sure you scoop the garlic out of the dish. The texture is perfect, actual fried chicken. The upcharge for the Greek salad is worth every penny, well appointed and delicious. The absolute highlight of the meal was the meatball sub. Hand made meatballs on a wonderfully soft roll with a nice sweet/tomato tart marinara sauce topped with a melted mozzarella. I plan on becoming something of a regular and working through the menu. Have you ever built an event up in your mind so much that when you finally get a chance to experience it, there was no way the experience can meet the expectations? Like when you see the Mona Lisa for the first time. Did you expect it to be the size of a postcard? Of course not. How about riding around in a Tesla? Somehow wanted more. Well I can say without a doubt that this experience not only did not meet expectations, it was so terribly disappointing. When I started seeing their posts on Facebook, I was totally into it. It looked like a spot built for my personality and interests: sports and alcohol. Walking in I was never greeted but ok, so I just grabbed a seat at the bar. And here I sat, and I sat, and I sat. Finally a bar tender approached me and I was able to order a drink. She handed me a menu and told me they have great food. Well who would know? Not me. No one ever came back to me again. Not to offer me another drink, not take my food order, not for any reason. I was there from 4:48-5:26 and one interaction from the wait staff. There were three of them and I watched them take care of many new customers that came in. In this day and age I can't imagine why a bar wouldn't want business. Maybe they didn't want an Indian man's business. If that's the message you were trying to send, considered it received. I will make sure I skip you every time in Marshall from now on. The one positive I will say is that my drink was fantastic. It was a gin and soda, but it was well priced and delicious. It's too bad they didn't want my business. read more

The bartender took the absolute best care of us when we stopped by late on a Sunday while traveling home from out of town. He gave us a heads up we just had a few minutes to order food, which we greatly appreciated. Most of the food here is made from scratch and you can tell. They have a well curated tap list and fun drink specials (the night we were there was Snopp's Dogg's Olympic Punch! ). The place has charm - long, dark wood bar and a cute brick storefront location right downtown, but not too far off the highway. All around great stop. We promised this review about a month ago but here it is. We've been to Coppers a few times and it never disappoints. A fun little bar in Marshall, MI with a great vibe. Get there early because it gets busy! The drinks are good and had a decent bourbon selection. Wouldn't be upset if they picked up a few more bottles the next time through. They made the strongest Long Island I've had and I actually had to ask for a little more coke but that's how it should be. Last time around we ordered chicken wings and the crunch. was. incredible. Definitely the best spot we've found for wings so far and believe me, I order them anywhere I go. I ordered them with the Parmesan garlic sauce. To compare to Bdubs would be an insult. Much fresher tasting, not super thick and saucy and way better flavor. Rob got a couple different sauces to try and enjoyed both. Service was great too, I believe our bartender was Matt. As we drove into beautiful Marshall, Michigan, we hurriedly passed the unique, sparkling Marshall Fountain as we were anxious to savor sandwiches at Pastrami Joe's deli. Our moods soured when we found that the shop was closed for the holiday. Opening our trusty Yelp app, we found a few favorable reviews for The Copper Athletic Club and so we parked on Michigan Ave and made our way inside. We were greeted by a great old-fashioned heavy wooden bar with seating aligned by the east wall. Many framed historic newspaper front pages exclaimed great victories by both college and pro sports teams and sport souvenirs. Our waitress greeted us and we explored the menu. We decided on a Copper burger and a Whiskey burger with sides of fries and a house salad. The salad was exceptional for a bar joint with great greens and cheeses. The burgers were pretty standard fare with oversized buns. The French fries were decent but could have used some crisping. Very very good food and staff. It's a small place and is usually packed, for a reason. I believe this is the best restaurant in town. We ordered the tacos and I was shocked at how good they were. I was not expecting tacos at all brewery to be super good but they were frickin amazing. The tortilla itself was so good. Thin and slightly crispy. So delicious. I came across this place a couple months ago~ it's one of my favorite brunch finds in Marshall! For brunch today, I had a Gouda BLT and was it "gouda"! I paired it with two different beermosa's and they are a new favorite of mine. The owner made them and the first was a blood orange and orange juice mix and will be my go to on my next visit. The second was grapefruit juice with an IPA. They were refreshing and a nice change from champagne, so these are definitely a new brunch favorite! I also highly recommend the fried bologna sandwich.... It might take you back to your childhood. Stop in, have a cocktail and check out the copper bar and food selection anytime of the day and you'll be glad you did! Copper Athletic has got good beer at $5 on the regular, which means happy hour pints were $2.50. How do they even make money?! I ordered a set of wings with honey siracha and they were delicious -- spicy and delicious. The staff there was attentive and friendly. The bathrooms were clean. The onion rings are out of this world. Strongly suggest you try. After eating the rings I was almost too full to eat my nachos. The nacho's were lacking cheese. Hot Sauce bottle was almost empty. We had a larger party reservation for 15 people, spoke with the manager Matthew 3x about this and he reassured me that my party will have their seats at requested time. Once my party got there, Matt was NO WHERE to be found and his staff did not have a clue about this party or conversations we had. Will not recommend for larger parties, and their management definitely needs improvement. I wanted to speak with Matt but he never returned my call after the incident.
