We came here for lunch and we loved this place, gave a classic old school Korean restaurant vibe as well as the service which I personally love. Food was amazing and filling . And getting their cold noodles afterwards was super refreshing and filling especially in hot weather! Parking is available!

The Corner Place never misses. I've been coming here for years, and the quality has been consistently solid every single time. The meats are always on point. Tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned! Let's be clear: if you don't order the dongchimi noodles, you already messed up. Pair that with the short ribs and bulgogi and you're eating the way you're supposed to. The meat is tender, juicy, and so good it makes AYCE KBBQ feel like a bad life decision. Yes, it's not all-you-can-eat. Yes, it's pricey. And no, that's not a problem. This is where you go when you're done pretending quantity matters more than quality. No mystery cuts, no chewy nonsense. Just premium meat that actually melts in your mouth. If you're here looking for cheap and unlimited, keep walking. If you want real KBBQ done right, this place stays undefeated.

I have been coming here the past 20 years and it has always been delightful. The cold noodle soup should NOT be skipped!!

Late night dinner on the weekend, Sat night. We arrived around 8:30ish. Place is almost empty. Not sure what happened with the glory. We seated and ordered the package B. By 8:45 they told us for last order. By 9pm they told to pay first cause they need to close the cashier. The sign shows open till 10pm. Food taste was great. We have not been to this place for many years. It used to be packed and long queues. Now they even have empty space next door. More like storage with few extra tables for overflow. Just the weird experience of being rush out.

On Saturday, September 20th, we had a family lunch at Gilmok, a very long history Korean BBQ restaurant in LA. My Mom's friends -- a couple who run an oriental medicine clinic -- recently moved from LA to Bakersfield but since they were coming back to LA that day and this place is their absolute favorite restaurant. They really wanted to meet us at Gilmok restaurant. So, we decided to meet there for lunch. Their top favorite here is the beef tongue (especially the cut from underneath the tongue), which they say is amazing. But I personally can't eat tongue, so I just had brisket and pork belly (my brothers had already ordered them). Since I had a super filling late breakfast that morning, I couldn't eat much at lunch. Gilmok has been famous for its dongchimi cold noodles for a long time, and they're still refreshingly delicious even now. cf) At Gilmok, they charge extra for things like ssamjang, rice, and lettuce. (My Mom also bought some very expensive wild ginseng from that couple that day, but since that's not part of this restaurant review, I'll leave it out -- though I'll still share the photo.)

Corner Place is very much an OG Korean BBQ place and not if you're not accustomed to just slap mouth hardcore traditional KBBQ. While it's good, it's a bit too OG for me. For example, I like my meats unseasoned, but if you order the tongue or intestines, they pre-salt it for you. I can definitely see the appeal and why it's good to those that like their meats seasoned, but my preference is of a purist when it comes to KBBQ. However, the cold noodle in soup dish (dongchimigooksoo) was amazing. On a warm summer LA day (which is every day), the dongchimigooksoo, as the Gen Zers would say now a days, "slaps!" Parking may be tricky. The restaurant itself is well lite but more attention could be directed to the cleanliness? It seems like it's a place that if you speak Korean, you'll be just fine. If you don't, you'll need to probably point at the menu a lot. Still, servers were responsive and friendly.

A K-Town staple. My grandparents and parents have been going to Gilmok for decades and I grew up eating here. I wish there was a place in NorCal/SF similar to Gilmok. There's truly no place like it. Their Dongchimi Guksu is to die for and A MUST ORDER dish. You're doing yourself a disservice by not ordering it. I have never had Dongchimi Guksu at any other restaurant besides Gilmok because I know that other places won't compare. We also order the "Combo B" which has tripe, honeycomb, and bulgogi. The service is prompt and quick. The same staff have been there for decades, which I find to be a great sign reflecting the business. The ambiance is bustling and always busy, I recommend joining the waitlist. Be prepared for the Pa muchim (scallion salad) to make your breath stankyyy, but it's so worth it. The food is so yummy and I crave it all the time.

Superb mul-naengmyeon (Korean cold noodles) and very good Korean BBQ. I prefer to focus on the cold noodles here as they're so good, but friends always seem to get distracted by the kbbq, which to be fair is pretty damned good, both the brisket and the beef tongue. The latter in particular is cut thicker than most kbbq places and retains the quality of the old days. Beef bulgogi isn't bad either but not a favorite of the group I as with. Service is old school and friendly enough, interior is a bit dated but that fits the vibe perfectly, especially when you consider just how many decades The Corner Place has been open in Koreatown. Parking is a small shared lot that gets both tight and full - if you get there early you can probably snag a spot if your car isn't too big, but if you get there later or you drive a larger car/SUV, expect to street park.

So nostalgic and still sooo good but never realized how tender and delicious the beef tongue is here!! What a perfect lunch date with some old friends and absolutely delicious lunch!! Cold noodles and Korean bbq!!

My family and I have been coming regularly here for many years. I live far away, so I have been here for several years. My father wanted to celebrate his 89th birthday here, since we haven't eaten here in a while. My dad was disappointed with the Bulgogi, not in the taste but in the texture, he explained. But he loved the tongue, so did I. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating. I just hate parking in the area, but fortunately, we got there early, and parking was available.

Do they sell alcohol? Such as Soju during lunch hours?

    Yes, they sell alcohol

What happened to the Kalibi? It used to be $25ish and now it's $42!

Prices went up a few years ago.

Is cold noodles available for take out?

As of July 6th, our signature dish, Dong Chi Mi Gook Soo is available for take out. We look forward to serving you. Outside seating is available for take out customers.

Can you order the dongchimi gooksu to go?

Greetings to you from the Corner Place. Yes, you can have our signature dish Dong Chi Mi Gook Soo to go as of today, July 6th. Outside seating is available for take out customers. Thank you for your question and we look forward to serving you.

Is there a better time of the week or time of day to come here? Came here on a Tuesday 40 min before closing and the dongchimi tasted very bland.

At least one hour before closing is best

    Is this AYCE?

Nope! You order the meats a la carte or through one of their combo sets

I never thought to eat bibinka with savory foods because it's normally a dessert to me, but it is definitely the icing! All the meats were definitely tasty, but the star that made these proteins pop was the vinegar! My youngest said that's just me being Filipino because he said it didn't need the vinegar, but trust me... make sure to use that vinegar. I can probably drink the vinegar because it's that good! Such a nice option when you want something a little different without going across town. We ordered the coconut beef adobo, pork ribs, and the cornbread bibingka. The coconut beef adobo was definitely the standout for me. It kind of reminded me of Bicol express with a slight tanginess. Super flavorful and really good with steamed rice. The pork ribs were not your typical saucy, sweet, fall off the bone type. These were more dry style with a bark that can be a little tough, but the meat itself was still juicy underneath. The cornbread bibingka was also really good. It felt like the perfect mix of classic cornbread and bibingka, slightly sweet and soft, and the sugar on top was a nice touch. Portions were solid too. My husband and I had enough leftovers for the next day. Overall, really glad we finally got to try it, and we would definitely love to try more of their dishes someday.

Back in the day, you had to get there early because the place STAYED PACKED, and their ribs were THEE reason to go. They were hands down some of the best ribs I ever had as a kid. They put me on. Fast forward 15-20 years later, and today was my first time coming back since my teenage years. I tried calling ahead to place an order, but couldn't get through. Honestly, that didn't surprise me because Woody's was always busy. I figured it was still the same old Woody's. Then I pulled into the parking lot around 6 PM on a Thursday. Immediately, there was parking available. That alone felt odd. No line. Plenty of parking. Not a single customer inside. That should have been my first sign. We ordered beef ribs, sliced brisket, mac and cheese, and dessert. They were out of the banana pudding, so we settled for peach cobbler. The total was around $50, which isn't bad for dinner for two. The excitement really started to hit when we got home and opened everything up. Unfortunately, that's when reality set in. The mac and cheese was terrible. Completely flavorless, watery, and mushy. The pasta was so overcooked it practically fell apart and blended together like baby food. It tasted old and had absolutely no seasoning or richness whatsoever. First and last time ordering that. Next was the brisket. The slices were gray, dry, and looked like they'd been sitting around for a while. I took one bite and immediately said, "Absolutely not." Another disappointment. But I wasn't too worried yet because I came for one thing: THE RIBS. The flavor was actually still there. The sauce and seasoning reminded me of the Woody's I remembered. BUT THE TEXTURE... A completely different story. The ribs weren't tender, weren't juicy, and definitely weren't falling off the bone. They were tough enough that I found myself working for every bite. At that point, the empty parking lot, empty dining room, and lack of lines made a lot more sense. By the end of the meal, I ended up rinsing the remaining ribs off so my dog could enjoy them as a chew toy. What hurts most isn't the bad meal--it's seeing what was once a legendary BBQ spot become a shadow of what it used to be. I almost wish I hadn't come back because it tarnished some really great childhood memories for me. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I also believe in being honest. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but based on this experience, Woody's is not the Woody's I remember, and unfortunately, I won't be returning. If it's any consolation, the cobbler was okay. But not worth going out of my way for.
