Salmon and sweet potato cake - delish!
    Mel P.

This cafe is awesome. Located in the perfect spot opposite the Sun Theatre, you can pull up a chair at the window to get a view of the cute green strip, or set up out the back in their courtyard. The coffee is Coffee Supreme and my long black hit the spot. Their menu is fantastic and I loved the smoked salmon on sweet potato cake - lovely to look at, delicious, and a perfect not-too-carby option. I love a cafe that offers more than just bread and eggs. For coffee nerds - they also had the Small Batch Kenyan on iced filter as an option on this particular occasion (another big tick in my books!) so if you're after something speciality, might be worth asking. Coming here after 9am on a Thursday morning, I obviously didn't experience this cafe in peak-time crazy, so it was popular but not nuts. I guess judging by other reviews you need to pick your moments! On the way out, I spied a nice little craft beer selection by the bottle - this means I'm definitely going to need to come back for a laid back and casual pre-movie bite to eat. Honestly I couldn't fault the place and will be back for sure.

Apple and blueberry muffin so delicious!

Espresso love! The hotcakes and pibble and squeak are delicious and I firmly believe they have THE BEST COFFEE IN YARRAVILLE. The staff didn't seem as friendly at first, but you keep going in and they learn your name and don't roll their eyes as much when your toddler gets crumbs all over their floor, or rubs his hands all over the glass door. I had Ricotta Hotcakes this morning and they were GORGEOUS! Trendy little spot with a menu that tastes even better than it sounds.

Cornershop is a great little cafe and brunch spot in the heart of Yarraville. It's consistently busy with a line out the front, but get there early and you won't have a problem. I suggest getting a table inside or in the courtyard though, the ones outside are a little squishy and extremely busy when a line starts to form. This was our second visit. One the first visit I had the scrambled eggs with cavolo nero with parmesan. This was absolutely delicious! This time however I opted for the ricotta hotcakes with mascarpone and blueberry compote. It was a little too light on the mascarpone but the flavours were amazing. My partner ordered the shakshuka and could not stop raving. Coffees were great and the staff were extremely friendly. Team all of this with the beautiful decor and perfect atmosphere and you have a place that's a permanent on our regular list.

I'm of the humble opinion that Cornershop single-handedly defies all the stale beliefs Melbournians seem to have about the west of the city. It's got all the things a great brunch spot should have. Consistently good coffee, interesting but accessible menu (my personal favourites are the black rice w/ yoghurt, berries and coconut and the quinoa porridge with rhubarb... arrrrrrrggggghhhhh) and on the whole pretty great service. The only bummer is that it's often busy, irrespective of the day of the week or the time of day, it seems to only trade in varying degrees of popular. At $35ish for breakfast and two rounds of coffee for two people the price is right too. What're you waiting for?

I'd never been to Yarraville before, and reports from friends had led me to believe it was twee, full of cupcakes and white lacework. There is a bit of that, but there's also a vintage industrial edge that the whole city of Melbourne is famous for. Cornershop is in one of these converted factory buildings, with exposed brick walls set off by bulbs hung in fantastic wire shades created from old lamp fittings. There's a heavy recycled wood table for communal dining and several smaller spots around it, making for a casual space. I was blown away by how genuinely charming the staff at Cornershop were, cheekily encouraging us to have a "tiny splash" of Grey Goose after a wine-fuelled Sunday lunch. And what a lunch! My boyfriend had the meatballs, which were so damn meaty I'm sure they'd packed an entire cow into the single serve. I stole one - it was seriously rich, but in a very satisfying way. My lamb pide was equally fantastic, with ultra-tender meat, lots of onion and some kind of unidentifiable but amazing sauce. We also enjoyed coffee, wine and cake (we don't do lunch by halves) which were all up to the same high standard. And the best part was at the end of it, it all came to less than sixty bucks. I'll be going back soon.

This cosy little local cafe across from the Sun Theatre will keep me coming back time and again with it's consistently good coffee (memorable even), great desserts and tasty lunchtime fare. Staff are always friendly and unpretentious (so refreshing). My girlfriend swears by their breakfast. Great spot to meet a friend anytime of the day or night.

This is a great little cafe opposite the sun cinema in lovely yarraville. I went with a friend who is a local and a foodie and this is her place. There is seating outside back and front and very friendly staff. Good coffee of course! We went for breakfast. I had the baked beans with battered eggs and she had the smashed avocado on toast. Delicious and a great spot!

    Big breakfast! FTW!

The breads are sourdough leavened which means they are not coeliac friendly. My favourites are the whole grain sourdough, baguettes, Pain de Mie (brioche loaf), chocolate Viennoise and the garlic sourdough that has whole cloves of sweet roasted garlic. Noisette in my opinion make the best and most authentic, flaky, buttery croissant and Pain au Chocolat. Also on offer are hand made chocolates, beautiful patisserie: cakes - individual and occasion sized - macarons, danish, tarts, sable breton, brownies and more. Something that makes Noisette unique is speciality items made for French festive calendar events like Galette des Rois and Buche de Noel. David was one of the Patissier/ Boulangeres that came to Australia to start up Laurent, so you may see a similarity in the sandwiches, filled baguettes and Croque Monsieur. But I think they are much better value here plus half portions are available. You can practice your French on the cheery staff and they happen to make a decent coffee too. Is it any wonder I've been a regular since they opened?

As delicious as everything looked, we ultimately ended up splitting a BBQ platter for 1 with some pork ribs added on... and it was still sooooo much food that we left stuffed! All the meat was great, but we both agreed the pork ribs were our favorite. Outside of that, the beef rib and oink ball also stood out. One other thing that really stood out to us, was their sauces. They were fantastic! Not just what they use to cook their meats, but the side sauces. Nuclear wave was a nice habanero sauce with great smokiness and solid heat that paired perfectly with the meats. Such a blunt but exceptional approach worthy of the rating I gave it. Onion rings were crunchy and impressive. Wings were beuitiful. The sauce, in multiple occasions was at the perfect level, they didn't make it too strong. The big stuff was the most impressive. Despite its immense, Headstrong appearance the food was actually easy and enjoyable to eat and handle. Every single item was impressive apart from the bread, the buns. Which were boring. So you gotta use it to make a sandwich or something and make the most out of it. Wish I could of given the bubblegum milk shake a chance. Great atmosphere as well. Worthy of 5 stars. Worthy of paying the price that we paid. Excellent customer service. A wonderful experience from third wave Cafe overall.
