Breakfast one morning with friends while in town. A busy old school place thats popular with locals. Parking lot is in the back of the property. It was busy upon our arrival. We were greeted within a couple minutes and seated in under five. I ordered some eggs and they were okay, its hard to mess up eggs. However, what ensued next is why my review is as such. Messed up my partners order so badly it was beyond sad. It was late in the morning and she ordered a chicken salad sandwich on rye. When it arrived it was the wrong bread so she sent it back, what returned from the kitchen was a joke. Literally nothing but lettuce between two slices of rye bread. She did not eat it. What happened next was even more ridiculous, we said something to our server about it and they did not want to remove this lettuce sandwich from our bill? After several minutes of my friends (who are in the restaurant business) arguing with our server over the uneaten lettuce sandwich it did finally get removed, but they charged for the fries... seriously a real wow moment for me That interaction alone was enough to make the whole experience an unpleasant one. 2.5 Stars it is what it is but won't return and as such cannot recommend. 01185 read more

The staff at Cottage Too are friendly and efficient, and the place has a cozy, and welcoming, but old-school, wood paneled country decor. The sausage patty was excellent -- big, flavorful, and cooked just right along with eggs over medium -- and the house-made salsa added a nice, fresh touch. Unfortunately, the rest of breakfast missed the mark. The "extra crispy" bacon was extra burnt, both of the English muffin pieces were absolutely flat, and the gravy smothered the tiny biscuit so much it should be called "2 dumplings and gravy soup!"(Sorry. I'm a southerner and while the gravy is up to par, slicing the biscuit in half is not how you serve this dish.) The pancake was slightly overdone, and the fruit cup wasn't very fresh. Nice people, but the food we tried was just not up to par. Really surprised by the high ratings. Either folks have very different standards or we just had a bad batch that day. Time won't tell! This place is really yummy. We really enjoyed our food! This place was packed so it's obviously a popular place to go in town. Service was great and everyone working there is very nice. The ambiance is cute and quaint and I would come here again for sure!! Have to say, the presentation of the food could be a bit better. Eggs on top of the pancake? Feels a bit lazy and it's not like I'm going to eat the eggs and pancake together. Maybe just put them on another plate? The square of cheese also looks just a little bit lazy. Both my husband and I wait 15 minutes to order and we ordered the cottage special... it took 45 minutes for it to come out and my toast was cold. They didn't check on us once the entire time. The portion sizes are smaller. The food was unseasoned and undercooked. The biscuits and gravy tasted flashed in a microwave. The food sucks, the service sucks. Such a throwback to old school diners. The place certainly has a lot of charm. Service was fantastic and super friendly. It's hard to differentiate breakfast orders across diners, but The Cottage Too certainly stood out for it's quality and quantity. Eggs were done nicely, and their biscuit and gravy were delicious. Please AVOID this place at all cost! If I had to skip a meal because there was nothing else, I'd rather do that than EVER return here. If there were zero stars, that's what I'd give this place. I don't understand how they are in business, especially given Palm Springs is 20 minutes away. I don't even know where to start... went there for breakfast and ordered a mushroom-cheese omelet, a breakfast sandwich combo (eggs, bacon and pancakes). After half an hour wait (!) after placing the order, finally breakfast came! That is... only one order. My husband's combo plate... BUT everything except the pancakes were cold and I was told that unfortunately another waiter picked up my meal, so I'd have to wait till they make it again. When we dared to mention that my husband's meal was COLD, the waitress scooped up the scrambled eggs from his plate with another plate and took it away. My husband thought they would remake his eggs... I laughed and told him "wait, the eggs will come back on the same plate, in the same layout!" I said "they would probably microwave it for you!" LOL.... Guess what? 30 seconds later the same plate with the same eggs, in the same layout came back, the plate being sizzling hot and the eggs sweating! LMAO! They indeed microwaved his eggs and brought them back! My food was still nowhere at this point.... SO.... I dared to ask for the manager regarding the microwaved eggs, who, was shocked that I had an issue and grabbed the eggs and said "we'll remake those for you " without showing ANY understanding or apologizing. In the meantime my food arrived as well... I have no clue how old the mushrooms were but they had a smell that we couldn't tolerate. And YES, I eat a lot of mushrooms, all kinds, probably multiple times a week. I am not talking about that typical, earthy mushrooms smell. This was something else. I figured I'd at least eat the potatoes that came with my omelet. Boy, there was absolutely zero seasonings on them. Just bland potatoes and probably the lard taste that they were cooked on. When we called the manager back, she said "she'd let the kitchen know about the mushrooms" and then she proceeded to talk super condescending to my husband as: "we don't put any seasonings, that's why we have salt and pepper on the table, HONEY!" . We pretended we didn't hear that part, but again, zero apologies, just down-talking, as in "why are you guys even here?" I then mentioned that I needed to send my food back to the kitchen regardless, because it was inedible, regardless of zero seasonings. She said "she'd let the kitchen know about our issues!" . So we proceeded to pay and noticed there were zero adjustments on our bill. The cashier yelled back to the manger who yelled back "I am not taking off anything ". . Went paid $31 for 2 slices of toast and butter that came with our food and we ate those two slices within the first 30 minutes while we were waiting. This place shouldn't be in business or at least definitely not with this type of "management"... (management?!? WHAT management. LOL ). We will never return and discourage anyone to do so. I also noticed that the place has over 9 health safety violations. No wonder. The place is old, sticky and my wet dog's bed smells nicer than this place. read more

Came here during a meeting . The food is okay, and prices are okay. I unfortunately did not enjoy my experience due to a few things: My cups and silverware were dirty The service was aggressive and the server was annoyed with any questions that I had. The cheese on my omelet was a Kraft single (Insert vomiting sounds) and the avocado was cooked into the omelet instead of freshly sliced on top *I was unable to ask different questions due to the server being annoyed, so my meal was a surprise once the plate was slammed down in front of me* I tried to send my food back and the server kept saying, "what is it that you don't like about this omelette, it's EXACTLY what you asked for" and "okay well this is what you ordered I don't see the problem." I eventually was able to get her to give me another breakfast however I truly didn't trust eating what I was given the second time. At any rate, I did call after I got home to see if there was something I specifically did to make the server behave that way towards me, and only me. (She was syrupy sweet to all other people in the meeting.) To which she said no; she just speaks that way and people sometimes confuses what she means. Welp! We were looking for a good place for a full breakfast before heading out to the outlets, and this place sounded like (based on yelp reviews) a decent bet for a very good breakfast nearby where we were staying. As soon as we arrived and pulled into the parking lot, we immediately had our doubts as the building's exterior looked like such an old and run-down dive of a joint....BUT, we braved it out and walked right in and, Wow!.....such a cool little cozy diner style interior with lots of classic photos and memorabilia all over the walls. Our hopes had suddenly been raised and we had very high hopes for this place. We were immediately greeted by one of the servers and told to seat ourselves.....we chose a nice cozy booth in the corner. It was still around 10.30am brunch time so the place was only half filled with diners....I can definitely imagine this place getting pretty packed during regular meal hours with lines out the door. Anyway, we went ahead and ordered the 2-egg with burger patty with fries, fresh mushroom and cheese omelet with hash browns (my order), and the veggie omelet with a side of fresh fruit (not on the main menu). Hmmm, ok, let's start off by saying that I expected better for a place that specialized in breakfasts. Perhaps the cook was having an off day, but my mushroom omelet was very dry.....it tasted good with that cheese on top, but was just dry...most likely overcooked. My hash browns tasted not too bad, but were also kind of dry and all in little pieces. I did somewhat enjoy the sourdough toast that came my breakfast though. The other disappointment was the beef patty with the two eggs and side of fries.....the patty was so dry it really couldn't be eaten, so it was just left on the plate. The fries that came with it were not even hot and fresh.... less than lukewarm actually. The only decent part of this plate were the eggs and English muffins. The last breakfast was the veggie omelet which, we were told, was pretty good.....so I'll just take their word for it. It looked rather dry to me. Other than the service being pretty decent, I was rather disappointed with our breakfast here as I had expected much better for a place that specialized in breakfasts. However, since there are so many positive reviews on this place, we are willing to give it a try again in the future......perhaps the cook had an off day, the place was short staffed, or something......who knows. read more

Great tasty breakfast options with large portions of hash browns! They play football games in main dining area and side dining area which we love when the Steelers are playing. I loved the Canadian bacon omelet with avocado and B my man loved his fish and chips. Service was sweet and fast. This place was packed when we walked in. This is definitely a well known neighborhood hot spot. It's got charm and is covered with old hollywood starlets like Marilyn Monroe on the walls.
