This is an odd review for me. I've never been to this location. Nor would I have ever thought to go to this shop as I'm not big on candy. I do have a sweet tooth, but sugary candy is not my go-to choice. However, my wife is a teacher and one of her student's mother has gotten her candy from this shop a few times this year. My wife doesn't have a sweet tooth at all, so I'm stuck eating these candy gifts... I mean, I don't want them to go to waste or anything! With all of that said? Holy cow! These are amazing. Every bite I take, I have to stop and think about how good these things are. They're amazing. They're so good that even my wife would eventually try them and comment with a "woh... that's so good." I felt like we walked into a Hallmark Movie "local store". This quaint store is filled with many items that are local to Murfreesboro. We bought a Christmas ornament! The owners are just like out of the Hallmark movies, where they welcome you and give you a brief history of the store. What they offer, and then gave us "pointers" as to where we should go explore in the "Square". They brag about the "best chocolate" in town! And let me tell you! I'm not a sweets person but when I bit into the "all chocolates" it took me back to Belgium when I lived in the Netherlands and frequented Belgium! Delicious! The taste of Belgium chocolate has my tastebuds become a chocolate snob! LOL If I were to recommend a "mom and pop" store, I highly recommend to take a quick peek, even if you don't buy anything, the feeling of "I belong, I'm home, I feel welcomed." And I come back just to browse to see what new things they have. read more

We received a moldy valentines chocolate strawberry. We were super excited to eat chocolate strawberries and after seeing the sign out front, we decided quickly to stop by. Bad call. One was moldy so we were hesitant to eat the rest. We took the container back and expressed our concerns and were not refunded. Instead we were given two more chocolate strawberries and who we think is the owner took down his sign outside. We have not eaten any of them because of the concerns of mold and the bizarre brown gunk accumulating at the bottom of our container. It seems as if the chocolates are not refrigerated up front and the strawberries are a great example of poor food control. Nice people but they weren't very attentive to the situation. I'm sure the packaged food is much better. read more

The Country Gourmet has become part of our weekly routine. Every Tuesday my son and I stop in to pick out a few chocolates while my daughter is at her dance class. They have such a variety to pick from but the fan fave has been the chocolate graham cracker for my daughter and the triple chocolate truffle for my son. Last week he spotted freeze dried candy so I'm sure that will be next weeks purchase. They have always been super friendly and helpful and we can't wait to try more of their products. read more

While I strive to support local business and appreciate the items and variety stocked by this store, I cannot in good conscience support them anymore. Last Christmas I went the first night the annual Murfreesboro Christmas ornament was released, I inquired about locating an earlier one, and was essentially advised I couldn't afford it. Nine months later I return with a family member to show her the store and inquired again about the ornament being sought , and the exact same thing happened. No independent shop owner should exhibit that type of behavior towards customers. I came home and bought the exact item on eBay....sans judgement. read more

When we moved back to Tennessee after living out of state, we were excited to explore our new town. The Country Gourmet was the first local business we stepped foot into after putting the offer in on our home in Murfreesboro 3 years ago. We were greeted immediately by the friendly staff, and they were super helpful and knowledgeable while sharing about their local products. The Country Gourmet was not only our first impression of how amazing the people and local businesses are, but they have also been the first stop I take friends and family to when they visit us! Every chocolate we have had was amazing, but my favorite thing are all the TN and Murfreesboro specific merchandise for gifts. My son and daughter in law moved here from out of state a week after their wedding and I went to The Country Gourmet to purchase locally sourced products for a housewarming gift basket (which they LOVED)! When traveling to other states or countries, I like to bring my hosts gifts made in Middle Tennessee. The Country Gourmet is my go-to spot for these items. They make it very easy to find items produced in the area with a special made in TN section of the store. I've purchased Olive & Sinclair chocolates, including coffee bean dark chocolate, which is excellent. Olive & Sinclair also has a bourbon-infused peanut brittle, making it even more TN-themed. The Country Gourmet offers a variety of specialty coffees and baking mixes for cornbread, biscuits and muffins. I'm always able to put together a nice gift bag that thrills every recipient. The Country Gourmet also offers a wide variety of beautiful truffles and chocolates. I usually tend to avoid that counter so I'm not too tempted. They have nice gift items like funky cookie cutters, super soft stuffed animals for kids, cookbooks and aprons - just to name a few. Additionally, they gift wrap at no charge in cute bags with tissue paper. I've always had excellent service at this store, often staying a bit to chat. With yet another out of state trip on the horizon, I will be visiting again this weekend for another "Made in Middle" gift bag! read more

Selfishly, I ate the yummy sweet thing that was meant for John. Because the gift box of chocolates was compromised by missing a piece I choose to eat it all, and John didn't get his BD treat. Sad. But I'm happy I got all the Country Gourmet chocolates with the few bills I had that MTSU visit. This Murfreesboro shop can build a gift box of sweets and more for your friends and colleagues. I love the Country Gourmet! The people here are always friendly and helpful. I came here the other day especially for their o-so-decadent truffles. From Peanut Butter Cayenne to Jalapeno to Cinnamon Ganache, they have one for every tastebud. Besides the yummy treats, they have unique gifts for any type of chef. On my trip to get the truffles, I noticed some kitchy-cute wallets - for $14 it made a great gift card holder that the recipient will love and no gift wrap necessary. What a great shop full of self indulgent gifts for yourself or unselfish gifts if you pay them forward. I kept mine, lovely Christmas China mugs, dish towels, a guitar tea infuser and of course some chocolates. The chocolate counter is varied and I got dulche de leche, bananas foster and a caramel or two. They were not really my taste but chocolate is very personal, I would definitely stop by again for gifts if travelling through the 'borough, would even make a detour. read more
