I truly love crab shack's food & service; however, RACISM made a presence. I had a seemingly RACIST interaction w/ a young Caucasian or Hispanic waitress with bold eyeliner makeup. The restaurant had a total of 4 customers plus me made 5. I decided to dine-in all by my lonesome & sat at a table w/ a bench seat. I asked the gentlemen at the front counter if it was ok, and his response was yes. Soon after, here she comes to tell me to move to another table, I did. I moved to another table w/ a bench seat. She sent the male waiter to tell me to move again. I politely told him no that I want to be comfortable and to please service me. At that time, there's only 3 other customers. Come here to crab shack often but recently found this location and we like it more since it's not as busy compared to other locations we've been to. Today tho my crab was mushy and had an extremely fishy smell to it. Told our waiter who was super cool (shout out to the dude with the ponytail) told me he would get the manager. I explained politely to the manager about my crab and he asked me if I wanted something else. I told him to change my snow crab to king crab and he said he could only exchange it to snow crab which was fine but why ask me and i wasn't expecting him to not charge me extra cause i was for sure willing to pay the difference since i was a little thrown off by the snow crab at this point. Anyways the fresh snow crab came out and it was legit fire like always. I understand sometimes food does go back and as long as they are willing to change it without hesitation I'm a happy camper so also a quick shout out to the manager. My only other complaint was our garlic bread could have been in the oven a bit longer. But again shout out to our waiter he's helped up a couple times and is extremely nice not sure his name but he's the dude with the ponytail. read more

I've been here a handful of times pre pandemic, but recently went this Saturday with my wife and family and to be honest the communication between server and bar and bar and server was below average. We ordered 200 dollars worth of food and only got 100 dollars worth of food and then we had to communicate that back to our server who only got competed a beer. Crab Shack is an underrated and under appreciated seafood spot in Gardena/La. Not sure how many locations they have but every time I've been here I'm never disappointed. Even tho I risk health with all the sodium I'm consuming doesn't stop me from gorging out on the seafood boil. The gumbo is solid too with the white rice, if it's your first time getting it I would go mild and then build up. The chicken wings are different but in a good way not a weird way. I'm not Keith Lee but if I were I would give this place a 9 outta 10. read more

I've tried every boil-in-a-bag seafood place in LA County. This place was not the best. The 'broth' was very watery and a bit greasy. The sausage seemed to be boiled and tossed in at the last minute, did not have the flavor of the broth at all. The garlic bread should not be called garlic bread at all. It was nothing more than a lightly warmed piece of French bread with a teensy bit of butter drizzled on it. It wasn't toasted and there was no garlic on it. I'd try a different location next time. The sauces have lots of flavors, a bit salty to me, though. I order a milder season to help that, but I generally just dont order from here. Portions are smaller as well, but not the price. Drinks were good. Customer service was pleasant. read more

Came back for a 2nd visit not too long after the first. We were greeted by our server, Epiphany. Immediately, I thought she was familiar. Then it dawned on me - she was our server when we had a family gig at the Western and Redondo Beach spot Crab Shack! And YES, we were all impressed and pleased with her service, so naturally, we welcomed having her once again! She did awesome, and although she had to leave early, our follow up server, Rudy, did good as well! I just want to point out one thing (which is really the main reason for this updated review.) The first thing I look for at a Cajun eatery is crawfish. I'm just a complete sucker for those yummies. HOWEVER. This place has trouble serving them clean. YEP - just like the last time, and just like the visit at their Western/RB location, these critters were served with MUD STILL ON THEM. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE TURN OFF. And it's not like there were improvements: they were at their dirtiest on this last visit. Common sense would dictate that when these mud bugs do not get cleaned properly AND you steam them with other seafood and goodies in the bag (potatoes, corn, sausage, etc...) EVERYTHING gets dirty. This is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING, I mean... who wants to eat dirt?! The only reason I haven't knocked off any stars is because the service has been phenomenal. I know - I should have said something, but I was with a few people and we were celebrating a special occasion. I didn't want to ruin it even in the most minute level. The good thing is no one else noticed since I was the only one who eat crawfish in our entire group. For the first time at a Cajun eatery, I passed on chowin' on them. They were just too gross. I will most likely visit one more time. Here's hoping they showcase the crawfish much MUCH better then. Otherwise, that next visit will be the last. read more

Came here for dinner on a Monday evening where parking was plentiful and was seated immediately. We were greeted by a kind young waiter who gave good recommendations and we opted for the combo #2 which consisted of a pound snow crab leg and a pound each of 3 other choices. We went with the shrimp, clams, and crawfish. It also came with corn, potatoes, and sausage. We also ordered a half dozen oysters. Food came out very quick and our waters and drinks were always topped off. Made small conversation with the friendly waiter who was very nice and attentive. I hope his first tattoo goes well! Food was average. The potatoes were hard and flavorless. The snow crab was not fresh. It had a not so fresh taste to it. The waiters were forgetful and had an avoidant attitude. Definitely didn't tip them. But most of all the so called manager was very confrontational. I wouldn't recommend going there if he's working there. Workers here really could care less. We came here and called beforehand about an allergy we had in our party and they told us they could accommodate us no issue. When we arrived and notified them of our issue they said they couldn't boil the shrimp separately....sounds to me like they are pre-preparing all their food for the day because there's no reason they can't clean out one pot and separate boil. They've done it at every other crab shack and boiling crab we've gone too. So it's pretty interesting, that they can't accommodate us suddenly. What's more likely is they don't want to take the time to separate boil it - I get It, I understand it's a hassle, but when someone has a serious allergy there's no reason not to -accommodate them. Needless to say we definitely will stick with the boiling crab from now on. They're elite in every way, no reason to downgrade. Doubt the owners are the type to look at reviews so this will largely go unnoticed Im sure. But hopefully I can steer away some customers and it sinks their ship slowly lol and the food was terribly bland. Got my same order I alway get and it's straight unrecognizable. Food is pretty decent here but service is not. I'm a regular who ordered over the phone during the pandemic and had to run into a bunch of obstacles like $100 limits on phone orders until it lowered to $75 and then not taking phone orders at all. (Note: tried offering my cc over the phone and wouldn't accept) I totally understand the precautions since a lot of people probably call and place orders and end up wasting food but it sucks that the rest of us have to suffer for it even if I showed up for my food all five times I ate here in the last couple of months. read more

Crab place WITHOUT crab crackers or metal mini forks. Gave us scissors and plastic forks instead. Excuse: people keep stealing them. As if scissors are less useful and therefore less of a target for theft than crab crackers? I haven't ever been a thief, maybe there's an underground market for stolen crackers? Take a wild guess how long full size plastic forks last when digging in crab legs for meat. And no soap in the restroom does not bode well for employees washing their hands in accordance with state law. If I had seen this first, I would have walked out. Our server said rice was still cooking and will be ready in 5 mins. 20 mins passed and we had to remind our server twice about it. Each time we asked, he said "let me check" but never followed up. So bad... I was just disappointed to begin the service was not very good, the server would not let me finish a sentence, made no eye contact. It was my first time so I asked out of two options which the waiter recommend. In which he responded with "Oh the Pan Roast that's like what everyone gets" with a hint of attitude. Now to the food... I ordered the Pan Roast, the flavor was good. However the pasta was so mushy it totally ruined the dish *I recommend getting it with rice not pasta*. First off, the restaurant has a nice ambience. It has large windows which allows for a lot of light to come in, and considering the days are a bit longer, the inside is quite pretty and clean. Regardless of whether I go to Boiling Crab or Kickin' Crab, we usually get two pounds of shrimp, sausages, corn, and fries. So I think it's safe to say that I can compare all three on a relatively apples-to-apples basis. First off, the seasoning. I did "The Crab Shack Style" at medium spice level, which is the everything sauce commonly found at other places too. The sauce here is a bit less salty and the spice level might be just a tad higher. It was slightly different, but not sure if this is any better or worse than the other ones. The sausages, however, are thicker cut slices than ones found at Kickin' Crab and Boiling Crab. Given that they're somewhat like kielbasa sausages, the thicker cut pieces really allows you to appreciate the casing of the sausages when you bite into them. The shrimp was great, but I think this place had a slightly higher market price at $14.99/lb, though that may be a timing/seasonal thing. We also got the Crab Shack Garlic Fries, which were absolutely phenomenal. Compared to the Cajun fries or the sweet potato fries I've tried at other places, these fries were LEAGUES better. They were super crispy, well seasoned without being overly covered in Cajun seasoning. They're so good dipped in ketchup or the actual sauce of the seafood. I think this is my favorite of the three so far. It's just a good combo of ambience and food. The other restaurants I've been to are much darker usually, and some make me feel like I'm in Squidward's sex dungeon. And I'm not always in my Spongebob costume or in the mood, so...yeah. read more

Love Crab Shack! I generally don't like chain restaurants, but this one is better than Boiling Crab IMHO. The seasoning is sweeter and less salty than Boiling Crab, which I like. The service is always great and my seafood comes out pretty promptly. No issues here, other than I wish the lines were shorter sometimes. Went for fathers day, the server was horrible not attentive. We waited 15-20 minutes for each request and she still would forget. Our total was 400$ and fhe service was horrible. I also got gratuity added for 18% and when I asked why if 1. The server was never there and was bot helpful. 2. Our party was 5 adults who ate the rest were children under 1 who never ate only to be told "its a law we have to charge" I did some research and found out it is actually illegal to say someone has to pay gratuity and as a customer they had to remove it if asked. Good food. I always get 1 lb of shrimp head on crab shack style mild with potatoes & a side of rice! Usually the food is 9/10 however sometimes they've messed up the taste a bit. Overall the service is pretty good. The best person I've come in contact with while there is Alex! She is dope & always remembers me, super kind, and always has a smile. The shrimp was easy to peel and delicious when dipped again in the sauce. *The corn was definitely noteworthy too! Honorable mention for sur Dessert: For my mom's birthday she got a complimentary strawberry funnel cake! It came with vanilla ice cream on top and was absolutely delicious! The funnel cake was moist, but slightly crunchy with the strawberry glaze. It was complimented perfectly by the vanilla ice cream, and a great end to an awesome meal. She was not disappointed! Service: Wonderful! The servers were so kind and attentive to what we needed, even taking pictures for our party. The owner, Tony, introduced himself and was extremely hospitable and kind to us as well! We're so thankful to Tony and the team for providing us with such great food and a warm atmosphere to celebrate a wonderful woman. Please change your hours, I showed up around 9:05pm seeing that it closes at 10pm online. The not very nice lady at front said that they close at 9:30pm and not taking any more orders no matter what. I would kindly like to ask that either if they close at 9:30pm to put it online or to stick to their 10pm closing time. I also went to the one down the street also saying 10pm closing time. I went to this place last night to celebrate my fiance's heavenly birthday who passed away last October. I had all my children with me and my little brother. The food was absolutely delicious and came out in a timely manner. However the service we received from our hostess was horrible. Thankfully a couple other team members assisted our table and were nice. I asked the young lady for the manager to report the behavior of the other lady and I was told she was the manager. I said ok well Yelp it is!!! The rude one came back to the table and I told her how rude she was and I didn't think I should have to pay $58 gratuity for her behavior. She said she was sorry and it was automatic because we were a party of 7. I asked her for her name and she said it was Kimberly. I let Kimberly know that she needs to learn how to talk to the customers and treat them well. My bill came up to $382 and some change and at the end of my visit I felt robbed because of the service. She said she apologized but they were short staff. I told her being short staff had nothing to do with her behavior towards her customers. So because of that I will never be returning to that establishment!!! read more

Closing time is at 10 o'clock which is advertised. We went to two separate Crab Shack. One in Gardena arrived at 9:30. They told us it was closed because they were short staffed. We then proceed to drive to the second location in Carson California got there at 9:45pm. They said that they were closed because the kitchen was closed. Does the Crab Shack owners aware of this matter. Do the really knows that they are losing money? There were several customers that they turned away because they were either short-staffed or the kitchen closed early because they wanted to go home. SAD!!! read more

I love this location! Pre and post covid. The $50 order limit over the phone is inconvenient and sucks, but you're an asshole to leave a bad review over it if you can't see where they're coming from. Anyway, pre-covid I used to dine-in at this restaurant every now and then as a splurge with my mom and we never had bad service or bad food. Even once when they were super understaffed with only 2 waiters and a line out the door they were still making sure all the tables had what they needed to the best of their ability while offering their apologies. I've gone a few times in person to order food at the start of quarantine but since we don't want to leave the house anymore unless we really need to I just suck it up and pay the Postmates fee to get it delivered. The food always comes hot (I live 20/30 mins away) and to this day I've never had a problem with missing items or condiments. This review is long overdue but thank you so much to the staff at this location for always getting it right and working through this nightmare so that me and my family can still have a nice dinner and something good to look forward to on special occasions. read more

Picked up a Combo #1 with double shrimp, clams, sausage and potatoes, medium spicy. It was really good but the spices got to me later that night and I got crazy indigestion. I think I wasn't used to indulging in that much seafood with that much spice. I haven't had Boiling Crab so I can't compare the two. Next time I'm going to order mild and have the corn put on the side (not in the bag with the seafood and spices). Also, that combo is quite large for 2 people (a regular sized male & petite female). My daughter LOVED their chicken tenders which is listed as a starter but was really quite a large order with fries. Don't think I would dine in as the music is LOUD and there was an annoying fly bothering us a the table while we were waiting for our order to go. I expected to see the shrimp and other food drenched in sauce, but not so. The shrimp seemed to be refrozen that when I opened the shell it was mushy and falling apart... We've been to other Cajun-style seafood restaurants in the city, but have been disappointed with every one. Until we came here. We decided to try it out on a Friday evening - probably the busiest day of the week. We were immediately greeted at the door and decided to eat at the bar. So glad we did! Judith was such a pleasant waitress and all of her teammates were to. Each of them was attentive and checked in to make sure we were okay - from the time we ordered to the time we left. The food was great! My husband had the peeled shrimp and I had the snow crab legs. We shared the Cajun fries and were STUFFED.
