This is not a safe environment. Over the weekend, my friend and I were already inside The Craic and preparing to leave after last call when we were physically handled by a bouncer while waiting to call our Uber. We were not being disruptive and did not want to wait outside in the cold (other patrons were still allowed to remain inside at this time). Physical force was used while we were actively preparing to leave and waiting for our ride. At no point were we asked to leave prior to physical contact. When I tried to report the incident, the bartender refused to provide a manager's name or the bouncer's name. I was then physically pushed out again, and we were threatened with trespassing, despite witnesses being present and inside. We made multiple attempts to contact management afterward and have yet to receive any response about how this will be addressed. An owner even scheduled a time to speak with me and did not show up. The official Instagram has now blocked me too. The lack of accountability and response to a serious safety issue is concerning. I'm sharing this so others can make informed decisions before visiting. read more

I am here for the happy hour, and our group of friends love the vibe here. The bar has dim light and lots of cool seating area. I would recommend grabbing mock tails here during happy hour. It is perfect spot if you re looking for a bar to catching up with friends but not too crowded by young college crowd. I have not tried the food here so I can't comment on it. read more

Popped in here for a drink after dinner. If you're in your 20s and really looking to hang, this is probably a great spot. But if you're not, it's a lot. Super crowded the early Saturday night we were there and a bit difficult to get the attention of the bartender, fine. The drinks themselves are fairly pricey for a neighborhood bar, which was surprising. We caught the tail end of live music, which could have been good had we gotten there earlier. Maybe I've been watching too many early oughts sitcoms, but this is exactly what I picture when I picture a classic NYC neighborhood bar. There are groups of boisterous drinkers who are chatting with each other and the bartenders, plenty of cozy seating both indoor and outdoor, and live music. 5 stars goes to the coolest bartender from Scotland! Man this cat laid some Guinness knowledge on me, afterwards I felt like Keanu in The Matrix: "I know Kung Fu" I walk into an empty pub at noon on Saturday. I say to the bartender, I see a Guinness tap calling me, lets do this. He starts telling me why The Craic has the best Guinness pour in Brooklyn 1 - The line to the tap has to be close. The longer it is, then it loses its effervescence. Think of the "Devils Cut", it can't be too long 2 - The actual pint glass. He showed me the dimple in a proper glass. When the Guinness hits the dimple, it creates a proper foam and balance. The American glasses have the a weird dimple and the shape is also wrong. America down for the count?? Dang. 3 - Temperature. If can't be too cold or the beer gets funky. I was going to ask to taste everything but instead I chill. I said this location is pretty much the hipster hive, I bet your best seller is IPAs. He says, sadly they are but real folks drinking Guinness know the real deal. Now we start talking Scotch. I ask him some of his favorites, he told me and I would have guessed differently for this guy. The Craic also has a varied selection of good blends of Scotches. If I lived closed to The Craic, I'd be here everyday. Sadly, I live in the burbs and I wanted to drink a pint and be on my way. I would rate the Craic four and a half stars. The bar has an outstanding whiskey selection. It one of the most impressive yet humble selections I've seen with around 40 to 50 options. The options are all moderately priced. There aren't any $50 or $100 glasses; the most expensive glasses peak around $20. They have various Irish whiskeys, scotches, and bourbons. There is some entertainment too including TVs, darts, and a billiards table. They are some lounging areas with some super comfortable couches. All in all, it's a homey and down to earth bar. Great spot to hang with a book or even do some work because they have free WiFi. Not like Scotland my friend. Settled in with a friend for a nice pre-dinner malt + beer on tap (two Scottish beers I'd never tried) including an Isle of Skye beer and another, Innis & Gunn, a sweet malty beer that was quite to my liking and pair nice with a 10 year. A solo guitar player that was actually pretty decent fired up about the time we departed. Finger sandwiches came out about the time he started playing. Cucumber and cheese--well, knock us out! RACIST! one of those for whites only establishments. Definitely not for black people. I went there with a few of my white friends and I noticed every time I went to the bathroom the some guy who worked there (maybe the manager) kept following me to the bathroom. At first I didn't realize it but the last time he introduced himself, said he was working there for 6 years, watched me use the bathroom, (held the door open and everything) and when I left the bathroom, he walked out too. Then he tells me "this isn't my first rodeo" and implies that I'm either there to do something malicious or scandalous. Meanwhile the white people there do coke and other drugs in the bathroom all night and nobody ever stops them. Then this guy proceeds to follow me back to my seat and whispers something to the bar tender and leaves. The next time I went to the bathroom the Bartender then follows me to the bathroom. I figure ok maybe he has to use that bathroom too, but no. He follows me to the bathroom and when I used the bathroom and leave, he also leaves. Never used the bathroom. It was very clear that I was not wanted. I looked like everyone else in there (dress wise), carried my self with more decorum than anyone in there, I didn't do any drugs, and the only thing different from me and the other customers was my skin color. It's a sad thing that we are still dealing with these types of establishments in 2023. Very disgusted and never going back. read more

This was a cool bar, had a really fun time here. Some of the sitting spots are very cozy making the overall atmosphere of the place highly enjoyable & cozy while maintaing a higher class presence all at the same time. Come here of you're fresh out of work and need a solid cocktail to wind down. There's lots of books to check out and even some games like pool to play with friends. A place we've all passed by a million times on our way to/from McCarren Park and looked inside at the hip interior. I finally stopped in, and then I stopped in again, and again, and again. Good vibes in this Williamsburg staple and omfg that watermelon margarita. Owner is a super nice Irish guy. The place is so packed with Irish people on a weekend night that you feel like you're in Dublin. I live in the neighborhood so I've been here a few times. It's generally fine, convenient, and a good whiskey selection, though I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. Tonight I was pretty horrified as I walked by though, and saw that while we're in the midst of and most crucial week of a global pandemic with social distancing and quarantine being urged, and restaurant/bars allowed to operate only at 50 percent capacity, this place was full to the brim with throngs of people totally smushed together on the dance floor and bar. This was definitely not 50 percent capacity. I know businesses are struggling right now, and my industry is suffering as well--I've lost almost all my work this month so I get it. But this is completely irresponsible and stupid in the face of what is going on right now. They should be shut down for allowing it to be this crowded. Putting people at risk is not worth squeezing some money out in this period. They also have some health violations on Yelp so I guess it's not shocking that they don't care! Shame on the owners/management/whatever. read more
