    Halifax Donair Pizza

Conveniently located at then side of the Market Road Antiques, Crazy Canuck offers an assortment of burger, pizza and poutine dishes to go. When we were there early August, there was no indoor dine in options but plenty of picnic tables or booths under the overhang. A minor annoyance was the amount of flies that patrol the area, so we got our food to go instead of fighting the black swarm at every bite. We ordered the Everyday Special, which is the Halifax Donair pizza and Garlic Fingers for $20. The pizza was a deep dish pizza with a roasted garlic puree base, pepperoni, and donair meat topped with lettuce, tomato, and onion. Great crust and bottom on the pizza! Loved the extra touch of raw onions to give a bright note to an otherwise heavy slice. The garlic fingers was basically another deep dish pizza but with a generous portion of cheese on top and slices into strips. Both came with a side of garlic donair sauce which was more sweet than garlicy, but it worked well as a crust dip. Next time I will probably go for something with more variety, as two pizzas are a little much for me.

This was our first time trying Canuck ribs. While it wasn't my favorite style, the meat was incredible quality! These ribs were one of the best quality I've had across the US and Canada. I would definitely suggest trying them.

Took 25 minutes to get this pizza... decent pizza... not sure if wait for this one again. But there is an antique place attached to this, so you can stroll around

Ordered the hot dog with poutine fries. Lots of food but it was just ok.

Not really what we were expecting. Order at a window and only a few tables inside. The girl taking orders wasn't very friendly and the food was just ok. Worst part about the experience were the flies. We couldn't seem to get them to leave us alone the entire time we were there.

Plenty of food and great service. We got the pulled pork with Caesar salad, baked hot dog with po boy poutine and also burger with regular poutine. Everything was good. Would recommend.

I had supper this evening at The Crazy Canuck (on Weber Street N). It's at the end of a big antique market. Some of the tables have themes ... mine was the Tragic Hip. I ordered the pasta special ... baked tortellini. I love baked pasta! This was a hearty meal and I couldn't finish the garlic baguette. It was cheesy and the sausage was a bit spicy. I'd get this again. Courtney was the server. She was very friendly and chatty.

What a fantastic place for social distancing eats. The food is fresh, you don't have to order too far ahead, the price is right with large portions, and best of all, the burgers and poutine have been delicious. I had the Best Burger in Town last time I got takeout which is misnamed... because today's Crazy Canuck Burger should hold that title. The kids loved their burgers too. Standard poutine was a hit.

Condiments and cutlery. I'm number 3!

I did some research before heading over to Waterloo for a brief weekend stay. This place was across from my hotel and had rave reviews. I headed over there for dinner. Traffic heading westbound to Waterloo on a Saturday afternoon was horrendous. I had worked up and appetite, and headed here upon my arrival. I ordered the baked hot dog with fries. It came with dipping sauce. So good! It was filling, cheesy, tasty, and perfect. You can either dine inside the restaurant, which is attached to the antique mall, or you can sit outside at wooden tables with benches. I went with the former, which has retro albums (records, some of which I own!) as part of the decor. I'd come back here for a hot dog and sample more more food goodness. (211)

Slooow "Fast" Food. Based on the timestamp on my receipt, a Standard Burger + upgraded to Classic Poutine took 30mins to arrive after ordering! To me, that's waaay too long of a wait for something so simple. Burger patty itself was pretty small. It's supposed to be 6oz, but it was closer to a 4-5oz. Bun was bigger than patty. As per the other reviewers, based on the portion, prices are on the high-side. Standard Burger was $12 + change, it included either fries/soup/salad. To upgrade to Classic Poutine, it was +$4 and there was barely any cheese curds. Somewhat of a tourist trap as there is no food available on the Antique side of St. Jacob's Market. And yes, you will smell like oil when you leave. :)

We had their hamburgers & pulled pork and was great. Fries and grilled chicken were "OK".

Delicious lunch: foot long hot dog, Caesar salad, pulled pork sandwich and a poutine.

This place most certainly serves the best burger in town. Can't go wrong with a burger and Greek salad on the side.

The pulled pork had too much sauce and this place loses a full star for the number of flies! It was unsanitary and disgusting!

We went on a Friday for dinner and drinks assuming it would be a good time. My friend and I ordered the shrimp hush puppies. We waited extremely long for our order only for the waitress to come out and tell us our food had been burned so we had to wait for a new batch. We received our shrimp hush puppies which had virtually no shrimp in them. Just tasted like fried cornmeal that we payed way too much for. On top of that, I found a shrimp tail in my hush puppies. We also ordered a side of fries. Our fries were soggy and looked old. Definitely not fresh. On top of that, we found half a potato in the fries. Not cut up or cooked or anything. Just a potato in our fries. We all also ordered whiskey sours which were not good. We've had whiskey sours before but Kentucky somehow managed to mess those up to. We also noticed that most of the bartenders and cooks and waiters were not wearing masks even though mask mandates are still in place. Our waitress wasn't really attentive and we had to wait long before getting her attention each time. Only go for the vibes but the food and drinks are not worth the price at all.

It is still a good bar with great bar foods and meat dishes. I love the options of the smaller sides especially when drinking with friends. The parking lots is usually full, but there is free street parking across the road. Just drive around and see where everyone is parking. The smokehouse has large seating on the ground floor and event space on the upper. There are lots of tables and booths to seat any party size, they also take reservations. We went with 6 people and all around us were groups. The main area seems to be able to sit 50+ at least. Service staff are great, they refill and provide all the containers you'll need to get going. We ordered the Family Deal and couldn't finish. Most people have take out bags when they leave. It's that type of place. - we got the 1 lb pulled pork, 6 smoked chicken wings, beef brisket, and full rack of ribs - mac & cheese, red beans & rice, dilly coleslaw - sweet potato fries, and tater tots It took about 30+ mins for the food to come out since they needed to put everything together. We finished maybe 40% of it. The rest were another two meals at home. Over the years, the price has gone up considerably, but the quality and quantity is still a great value. Definitely bring a group and any visitors from out of town. From previous visits their pig tails, sausage are also great. My favorite is the ribs, mac & cheese, red beans & rice, and the tater tots though. Definitely will need to try their fried chicken and Back of House pizza (attached outside for takeout only) next time.

It wasn't a full house but there were a decent amount of customers dining in for lunch service. All the other locations I've been to in Toronto, their service is quick and efficient and we would receive everything we ordered in a timely manner. The Waterloo location - the service is slow, we are constantly trying to get servers attention to order, our items would either be missing or delayed for a while before coming, and some of our orders would come out in very small portions. For example, we would order 5 orders of a miso marinated beef plate but only 1 order would come out. Or we would order sushi but it would not come out until after we placed a few more orders ~30-40 minutes. We would ask and follow up about it but our server would say the chef probably forgot and then re-order for us. We would end up getting both the first and second order, so double the sushi when we only wanted 1. This not only happened once, but twice and we had to eat more sushi than we wanted. For the small meat portions, we asked why the portion is so small for 5 orders, the servers would respond that the kitchen only gives out one order at a time and we need to keep flagging our server to enter more later. But this was not how other Gyubee locations do it, we would receive all 5 orders at once. Also, it is a hassle for us customers having to call our servers constantly to order more - one at a time. Very inefficient for the servers. Our other servers didn't even inform us about this when we would say 5 orders of the item. Until we confronted a different server, they told us that's how the system works at their location. Our group was thinking maybe this location does it so that customers would end up eating less because they are waiting around for their order to come out more than cooking their meats. When changing the grills, they looked inexperienced as they were struggling to hold the old dirty one. Oils would drip down into our waters and food during the change. The food was decent but we did notice the quality went down - less sauce on the meats and the thicker cut beef was a bit tough. After our poor experience here, I'm not sure if we would go back to this location. Hoping they can improve on their service to provide customers and servers a better experience.
