Went here for lunch with a friend and ordered the fish and chips. Not traditional pieces of fish. One big fried piece. Fries were ok and not too crisp. The fish was quite good and house made tartar sauce was delicious. My friend had one of their many pies. She had the chicken pot pie and ate it all up so she enjoyed it. If I could give 0 stars I really wish I could and I am not usually one of those people, but after the second back to back bad experience I just refuse to keep spending my money on a bad food. I recently came into the pub and decided to bring a few of the frozen pot pies home and to my surprise there's literally a chunk of chicken and nothing else inside; like where are the vegetables and the filling. Solid all around experience. We didn't see the back areas, as we sat at the bar. Quant atmosphere that didn't overwhelm. Wait staff was courteous. Food was solid, with lots of options on draft. They gave free samples which was nice. The food itself was pretty good. The portions were decent sized, albeit a little expensive. There's a lot of good options to choose from. We were regulars at this pub most of last year while traveling for work. When we heard that they added Gluten Free Fish and Chips to the menu, we drove the 300 miles back here to try it. Well, this was a disappointment. I have had better fish and fries at Captain D's fast food chain. As soon as I forked into the fish the whole portion slid right out of the battered shell. I couldn't even slip a small portion of the fish into the tartar sauce without it disintegrating into the tiny little bowl. I don't know about you but I like to taste the crunch along with the fish. The batter itself was rather tasteless. Nothing special about the chips (slightly narrower) steak fries. The only item I enjoyed was the mushy peas. Oh! the ice tea was so weak, I should have had them bring some tea bags so I could enhance it at the table. I won't write them off just yet for just this one particular menu item. So, we're in Savannah for a few days and saw this place on yelp. The place is set up as a English pub and the menu reflects that. We ordered the fish and chips and OMG! the fish was an entire side filet and get this! It was over an 1" thick. It came with the obligatory French fries ( chips) and mushy peas, my favorite. First impressions: large interior, very well appointed and spacious. Massive bar with room to sit. A couple of nice TVs for sports and plenty of parking outside. I was greeted immediately once I planted my seat on a barred stool and offered a nice black and tan along with the menus. I stuck with the British appetizer, sampler platter or whatever and did not know what to expect. Probably the best onion rings and potato wedges I've ever had in any restaurant. The sausage rolls were definitely top tier and so was a scotch egg but then again it was the first time I've had one so I will keep trying on that one. Was here yesterday (November 23rd) to buy baked goods next door at the Pie Society. As this place is a fair distance from home thought I would get the fried breakfast, they don't serve it on a Saturday :( Also there was a waitress sitting on the side of the bar on her phone but apparently you have to have a bar person serve you at the bar !! Little wait for the right person even though they weren't that busy as I was there just after 11am. Oh well the butties as they were excellent last time. So got them to go, so I could shop next door while they were being made. $10 a butty, quite expensive but hey ho I got two :). One bacon and one sausage. I asked for brown sauce to be put on both. First thing is that I got two containers of brown sauce but no knife to spread it on the rolls and no knapkins. Asked for a knife so I could put my sauce on the rolls, small amount and 2 nearly full containers of brown sauce wastage :( Rolls / Baps were excellent, slightly toasted. Bacon butty was excellent. Sausage butty - what the heeeel has happened here. The sausages were cocktail wheeny sausages. Didn't taste nice at all. I was like I didn't get these last time, I was convinced I didn't. Looked at my last picture I took and yes they were proper pork sausages sliced in half last time. This time cocktail sausages, it was such a shame and it wasn't cheap $10 :( Oh well at least the bacon butty was good. Will I be back - oh yeah, baked goods are fantastic. read more

Popped in for a slice of key lime pie to go. The server was kind, went to the kitchen, packed my slice of pie... They have the best key lime pie! We went back and tried the food. I will say that to me, I would go here for drinks and not food. The fish and chips weren't bad, but I prefer fried fish to taste more than batter. And the burger came out on what seemed like to be a large English muffin which ended up falling apart. Not terrible, but I do expect a better flavor profile for the price point, and I understand it's British cuisine (which I've had abroad), so I totally get it. I just wasn't wowed. One of top 3 restaurants in Pooler! Food is outstanding, including items you won't find elsewhere. Pie Society was already a top spot in Pooler but it was takeout. You can find a table or bar seat here and menu is much larger! Note: My review is based on two visits, on back to back nights. I liked it so much that I took a workgroup the second night. FOOD The British are stereotypically not known for their food but this is delicious! That said, one of my coworkers is from England and he didn't think the food is spot on. It may remain an American fusion but tasted super delicious to this American! Bangers and Mash is a classic English dish and they make their sausage in house! It is super tender and tastes phenomenal! The mashed potatoes are no joke English potatoes and come with a thick gravy with pieces of roast beef swimming inside. OMG! My British friend didn't think the sausage was authentic, nor the gravy. I don't care, as I will order this again! Peking Duck French Fries This is not traditional English but is crave worthy good! Fries come with Peking duck meat, drizzle of Peking sauce and chopped green onions. Order this for your appetizer! Spicy Fish and Chips Their fish and chips has already been established as a winner by Pie Society. I tried the spicy version this time which is covered completely in a spicy sauce. It isn't overly hot, rather more of a flavored pepper sauce. It was really good. Be forewarned that the full plate is a HUGE serving. I ordered the half plate which was more than enough. Meat Pies Of course you can order a meat pie, the food that made Pie Society famous. They are rated in top 10 English Pie spots in the US. ENVIRONMENT I had hoped it would feel like you were in an England pub, with wood paneled walls, sticky floors, but it does not. They have large modern looking bar that takes up half the seating area and a large fish tank in back. You feel like you are in a strip mall restaurant...which you are. It is a cozy space which is a British characteristic. I expect this place will become super popular and run out of space for seating. Private room for large parties: They have a private room for large parties and events with wall madeup of the large fish tank with exotic fish. The private room is the most English space and feels like you are in an old English house. It seats about 14 people. SERVICE They haven't even been open a week so are still working things out. We had long wait times while we saw staff just standing around. I had to go up to bar to pickup a beer that had been forgotten about and not delivered. I'll give them time to improve. The food quality is worth putting up with a few service glitches. read more

I visited during a recent business trip. The restaurant was only 1 exit from my hotel. Upon walking in, you notice the horseshoe shaped bar which is the centerpiece and focal point. I decided to sit there since I was dining solo. I looked at the basic menu and decided on the shrimp cocktail and cottage pie. Shrimp cocktail - this is just like the menu indicates, the shrimp are tiny, but the sauce they are sitting in is tasty Cottage pie - a nicely sized platter made using ground beef and pretty filling. This is a good example of one of my favorite dishes. The fries are decent too and they bring out a bottle of malt vinegar for you. Overall, I didn't stay very long since I had to catch a show that was coming on, but I would certainly return if I was ever in the area again. read more

I came here for lunch and had to try the fish and chips. I didn't scrimp and went full size. I'm glad I did. The cod was wonderfully cooked, white flaky and wonderful mild flavor with a fantastic crispy batter that took me back to England. The fries .... The CHIPS ... were also authentic tasting. Very pleased that there is a very good English pub near where I live! First and foremost, for me, an English restaurant needs to get Bangers and Mash down pay, and this place makes them better than my old favorite place! My wife's favorite was the fish and chips, which is another British standard, and they were delicious! Great beer selection, and a British store and pie shop right there. Another of my personal favorites, was that sticky hot toffee pudding with ice cream, which I would have never tried it it weren't for the other Yelp reviewers here. Though this might not be for everyone, it certainly blew me away! I also had scotch eggs here twice, but they weren't the best I've had, but the sweet chili wings are great, and I also had the steak pie, which was okay. Conclusion... Didn't send it back because it was very busy. The shepherds pie was good, a bit too much blue cheese which overwhelmed the flavor and was not hot as well. This is one of the best restaurants in Pooler Georgia. I am a local, as well as a regular. The food is amazing, my favorite is the cottage pie and also the sgt pepper steak fries. One of the reasons I'm a regular is because of the awesome staff, Kianna and Quinn make the best drinks in town! Hands down. If one of them are behind the bar or serving you, you're going to be taken care of. I really appreciate that I can sit at the bar with my little tablet, writing away having my Hemingway moment and they make sure I'm taken care of. I never feel rushed, but I'm never waiting around for my food or drinks either. it's a very friendly environment, a lot of people here are regulars as well as tourists. read more

Traveling from Atlanta to Brunswick, checked out Yelp to find a restaurant in Pooler. The reviews were enticing, so we stopped in. Everyone was very friendly and the food was very good. The menu has lots of interesting things to try. We shared fish and chips and the coq au vin pie. Honestly I didn't love the pie. The wine they use tastes like sherry, which I don't care for, but a lot of people do. The mashed potatoes and gravy was excellent. The serving of fish was a tad smaller than we're used to, but it was excellent. We substituted onion rings for the chips, and they were very good. We'll be back soon. read more
