I've had cupcakes at this Cupcake Lounge in Westboro and also at the one in the Byward Market (which was the original location (opened in 2011), the Westboro one is the second location - it opened in 2013) and I have to say that I like the cupcakes at the one in the Byward Market better. The cake seems to be softer and fluffier there. My main complaint about both locations (although some might find this a positive instead of a negative) is that there is way too much icing on the cupcakes, lol. The icing is like half of the cupcake! And it's so rich and buttery! Again, many people may like this, me not so much. I don't enjoy cakes that are too sweet nor frosting that is too buttery. So take this review for what it is, haha! I do find the more "creative" flavours (e.g. coconut key lime pie, apple dulce de leche, lemon raspberry, etc.) to be tastier than the more generic flavours (chocolate, vanilla, birthday cake, etc.). Admittedly, the last time I actually bought cupcakes from The Cupcake Lounge was way back when they first opened. Ever since then, I've just had their cupcakes when colleagues bring them into work or family/friends bring them to parties or other events. Very special and well-crafted cupcakes, OMG! Delicious!!! All natural ingredients, no preservatives, only the finest ingredients used and baked fresh daily! This is exactly the kind of cupcake I'm looking for if I'm going to actually indulge in something so decadent as a cupcake. Their red velvet cupcake is superb, with that perfect tasty cream cheese frosting that makes a red velvet what it is! The lady who served us was just a delightful sweetheart. They have a sit-in café-esque area if you feel like taking a moment to enjoy your treat right then and there, or get it to go if you can wait that long! This cake shop it's a must if you visit Ottawa,, Coffee is ok but the cupcakes it's so yummy soft , fluffy and fresh. You can order different flavors all is good but the most delicious one is the Pumpkin , lemon , peanut butter and definitely the red velvet can't stop Highly recommended. read more

OMG, they have gluten-free everyone!!! I can hardly believe it! The cupcakes are divine, and the coffee wasn't too shabby either. This location is new, and all of the staff were very bubbly and happy. It was a nice dessert after my lunch next door at The Works. read more

I don't normally write negative reviews. My experience is based on the four cupcakes in my photo. My wife brought them home from a promotion this store was doing in a mall. They were very light and fluffy but to me that was the problem. It was a like a baking mix from your local grocery store and the icing was just sickly sweet sugar, not cream. What bothers me is the price, at several dollars each! These were not quality to me. I usually avoid this specialized "cupcake" things in favor of a real bakery. I ordered a gift pack for my husband for valentines this year (2017). The cost for this pack was 48$ and delivery another 30$, pretty pricey, but well worth it had the cupcakes been fresh. They were delivered before noon on Valentine's Day and we each had one that evening after supper. They were at least 2-3 days old, they weren't nice and moist and melt in your mouth yummy. We were both completely disappointed, me more so as I am now out almost 100$ and have gotten pretty much nothing for it. This one star is strictly for the service I encountered. Normally It is great service but this last time left a terrible taste in my mouth. My partner and I needed somewhere to keep warm while our power was out. We just wanted to sit with a cup of coffee and maybe a treat. When we walked up the young girl working gave us a strange look and when we proceeded to walk in she seemed frustrated and put her mop down and said in an anxious tone "If we could please stay on the carpet, she does not want to have to mop again." This made us feel unwelcome to sit down or to even order. She also claimed they closed far earlier then stated online.. I had checked prior to going for the closing time and it was open for 3 hours. I work in the service industry and you never make a customer feel awkward coming to spend money, especially with 3 hours till close. This evening did not make us feel good. read more

Its a small lovely cupcake place! The cakes were moist and delicious. The guy who served me was polite and friendly. There are lots of bars and restaurants in the area so its a great treat to pick up after your meal. I tried the red velvet, vanilla chocolate, raspberry almond and coconut. All were fabulous. You can get a nice take out box for a $1 if you want to take it to someone (or your self) as a gift. read more

This is a great little spot in Westboro. The staff was super friendly and a pleasure to interact with. The cupcakes were amazing, especially the marshmallow ganache...it's a must try...Oh and they also serve great coffee too! To be honest I did expect a little bit of a higher quality cupcake. I am a bit of a cupcake snob. I love them and used to make them a lot and eat them a lot. Pretty much if you catch me at any point on a trip, or when I'm hungry I have a cupcake in hand. I got a vanilla cupcake as well as a gluten free cupcake and I was so sadly disappointed. The icing was amazing, I must say but I found the cupcake really dry. It literally crumbled and I was confused, the gluten free one was actually less dry which was surprising because I usually find gluten free products to be quite Dry. I have heard nothing but good things so I was really disappointed. It's hard to find a good gluten free cupcake so I might have to keep looking. I felt like it was quite expensive for the quality I received. I think I might try it again sometime in the future because maybe I got a bad batch and I don't want to give up on them yet! read more
