I was in Waterloo for an annual volleyball tournament and based on reviews I was ecstatic to try it. Unfortunately, our games started at 8 and we needed to be at the venue by 7, so we didn't get to try it for the first two days, since it opens at 7. On Sunday, I finally came here, and ordered the breakfast special they have, two eggs, toast, home fries, bacon/sausage/ham, etc. Scrambled eggs tasted delicious, toast was nice and soft, sausage was honestly to die for and fries tasted good. However, since I had a game later, I decided not to eat all the fries which was a mistake because they were quite good. Recommend this place for people that want a quick bite to eat or a good breakfast to start the day. read more

This is our "go to" breakfast and brunch place when we are in the waterloo area. I am a breakfast nut and I tend to be quite picky. I have been here a number of times and I recommend this place. It has a great menu. Everything is cooked properly. Good size portions. And, although they get busy at times, things move quickly. The service is also very good. Small tip: While they list espresso based coffee's on their menu, they come from a push a single button machine. If you are picky about your espresso based coffee's skip these items as they are not the same. Their regular breakfast blend is actually very good and I recommend you stick with that. read more

Our 'go to' breakfast spot in Waterloo for a classic breakfast. I really love the typical breakfast (eggs, bacon, toast, home fries) and they do it really well here. Everything is well cooked, great home fries and delicious crispy bacon. They also have great servers and they always treat kids well. Deducted one star because the management is sometimes a bit overly bossy and disrespectful with the waitstaff. Has left a bad taste in my mouth a few times. read more

Food was fine, nothing to write home about. I found it odd that the Benedict was with ham rather than peameal. Service was also decent, no real interaction with the server but she did her job. What I really disliked was that the manager/cashier was yelling across the restaurant to the servers and bussers about where to seat the guests.Every time someone would come in to the restaurant the employee would try to greet them and this manager would just yell over the staff member to re-greet the customer and ask the number of people. We were seated right by the door and the cash area so I found it quite hard to enjoy my meal whilst watching this micro manager stand with his arms crossed barking orders for the duration of my breakfast. I saw him leave his position maybe once to go tell some employee what to do. I wanted to tell him to just do it himself. You could see the unimpressed looks on the employees faces. This manager/cashier pretty much ruined anything good about the meal.The best part of this experience is when I guess this managers shift finished and an older much quieter man came out to do the cash. read more

Simple fare, all of it good. The breakfast is better than average. No real juice, but the coffee is bottomless and good. If you want dinner, go for the homestyle burger. It's probably the best in town. I love Togo have it in the winter when the BBQ is packed away. read more

I've only had breakfast here once but I was quite impressed. The standard breakfast special is your typical 2 eggs, meat, hashbrowns and toast. Decent portion size and bottomless coffee. I paid 4 dollars plus tip and my food was brought out less than 5 minutes after ordering. The food was delicious and the wait staff was friendly. If you are looking for a classic breakfast for 5 bucks in 5 minutes then I highly recommend. read more

Not good. Maybe breakfast is the way to go. Other reviewers seemed to like the breakfast. I stopped in for a cheeseburger and it had to be one of the worst burgers I've ever had in my life. The patty was thin like a McDonald's burger. Not sure if it was even real meat - it didn't look right and tasted bad. Fries were ok, but nothing special. Nothing looked fresh. Service was very friendly and prompt, so I added a star for that. I don't recommend for dinner. read more

This is such an awesome place to come for a good breakfast and a good value. Breakfast for 2 of us is usually about $15.00 including tax and tip and they get you in and out in no time which is great if you have a lot to do that day. I have tried most of the breakfast places around my place in the Kitchener Area but nothing ever surpasses The Daily Grill so we always wind up driving to the far end of Waterloo to get a good breakfast. Also it seems to be a family run business which is great, they are always SO friendly and efficient. Love The Daily Grill! read more

Arrived to a mostly empty restaurant, was seated quickly. Ordered schnitzel, which was to come with soup, vegetables and mashed potato. The food came fairly quickly. The soup was hot and relatively good, although it tasted like canned soup with various vegetables added. The mashed potato and cooked vegetables tasted somewhat bland. The potatoes had lumps and the vegetables looked like they came out of a frozen bag and had some random herbs and butter added to them. The schnitzel was covered in a layer of sauerkraut. It was to have come with lemon on the side, but instead it came with an orange slice. A sharp steak knife was provided. I went to cut into it, and literally had to work physically at it to cut it - in fact I thought I wouldn't be able to cut it at all at first. It was the consistency of thick shoe leather with breading. After finally getting a piece off, I tasted it. Simply put, this was the worst piece of food I have ever had at a restaurant, ever, in my entire life. It tasted like freezer burnt cardboard. I do not even know if it was pork or veal. It was definitely old. I was unable to eat more than two bites before losing my appetite completely. I now feel sick and hope I will not get food poisoning. I pushed the plate aside, having only eaten the soup, some of the vegetables and potato and virtually none of the so-called "schnitzel". My spouse had a hamburger and fries. It was acceptable but nothing that couldn't be made with supermarket frozen patties and potatoes cooked in oil at home. After serving, the waitress never approached again to check and see if everything was to our liking (a practice that is done in pretty much every restaurant, short of fast food, in which we have ever eaten). She finally came, collected dishes without a word, and put the bill on our table. No questions, nothing. Feeling sick, I paid and left. The Daily Grill has lost a customer. I would advise against eating at any establishment that would serve this type of garbage to its customers. read more

Best breakfast in town. Can't speak to lunch (unless it is breakfast-for-lunch) or dinner but breakfast is consistently excellent. Upgrade to the polish sausage and you'll be happy. Keep in mind I always order the same thing - The Daily Requisite (typical breakfast - 2 eggs, meat, toast, potato) so I'm reviewing that breakfast more than the menu as a whole. But so many places put their twist on the standard breakfast or fail to execute the basics properly. The Daily Grill executes perfectly and excels at the standards. Plus with the fairly recent renovation looks pretty darn nice on the inside as well. read more

Went here hoping to get some half decent food, but neither myself or my friend were able to finish our food. I had eggs and ham, both very greasy and the eggs tasted like rubber. My friend had the pancakes and couldn't cut through them easily, they tasted like starch mixed with rubber. The two stars are for the service only, we will not be going here again. read more

Went there for supper and ordered spaghetti and meat sauce with a garden salad. My 6 yr old had fish and chips. The spaghetti was overcooked and meat sauce mediocre. The salad, I barely touched as it was mostly iceberg lettuce and some shredded carrots, but hey if you want to spend your $2.50 on it, go for it. The fish and chips were alright though, the fries were of the frozen variety. Wait staff was attentive but overheard a server 'playing' telling the dishwasher to 'f-off.' There were too many flies to enjoy my meal so I took out the rest. Maybe its ok for breakfast. read more
