These are pretty good lecture halls and are divided into lecture theatres A, B and C. They are huge and can seat hundreds, they are therefore generally used for introductory courses in the first and second years before students have to specialise into a certain area of what they are studying.
In the first couple of years I had to come to these lecture theatres quite a lot and it used to get quite confusing as to what lecture theatre I had to be in.
The problem with them being so big is that it can be quite embarrassing if you do something silly- me and my friend were in fits of laughter when we saw someone completely fail an attempt at sitting in a reclinable chair- falling on the floor in front of hundreds. Also my friend made the mistake of turning up at the wrong lecture theatre- turning up at a Maths lecture rather than an English one, he decided to leave 10 minutes when he clocked on algebraic formula was not being used a a metaphor for a theme in a book. read more
