Went to The Deli for the first time today as it was recommended by a friend. The food was amazing--the quality of the meat is fantastic and the portions are generous. We got The Hog and The Madd Italian, and both were delicious. The tiramisu we got for dessert was some of the best I've had. I could not recommend it more! read more

The owner has ridiculous rules. I ordered $34 worth of subs through yelp and paid online. When I went to pick up the subs I had forgotten to order potato chips so I tried to buy a bag of potato chips with my debit card and I was given the excuse that I can't buy the chips by themselves because the owners only making $.35 profit and they're paying $.45 on the credit card transaction. I truly felt bad for the employee that had to reiterate this to me three or four times because I just couldn't believe that after spending $34 on subs I would be denied chips because the owner wouldn't be making enough profit. Clearly the owner has told that to his employees so I do not fault the employees they are awesome it was clearly the owner what a fool. The subs and the customer service I received was really good for stars but I'm only giving it two stars because I want people to understand that the owner cares more about profit on every item then letting a customer who spent $34 get a bag of chips and he loses a dime read more

I heard a lot of great things about this deli located in the hidden shopping center off of 29 that somehow still exists. I was excited to see the large menu with deli meats you can't get at most places and the cool combinations. That alone makes this a unique option in Fairfax. I was a little surprised that the sandwiches cost $10 for the small (8 inch). But you get a nice chunk of meat on there and it is very filling. And while the sandwich was good, it didn't really drag me in, "just a sandwich". The bread was very plain which made the whole thing taste ordinary. If I had come here first I think I'd like it more but I've been spoiled by the Italian store...and even Wawa hoagies. The location is kind of unfortunate, I believe it moved here from somewhere else down the street, but people don't even know the shopping center or this place is there. So I definitely recommend visiting this place. Surrounded by generic chain restaurants in Fairfax it is nice to have a unique little shop. Try out the cool menu. My husband has ordered from here before, but first time for me. I thought the subs were expensive, but tasty. The sub roll was soft except for the ends that were a little hard. The meat on "the Smokey" a little salty for my taste buds, but I did like that I can taste the smoked flavors of both the roast beef and turkey. I've been coming to the deli since I was a child back in the 1980s. The food is absolutely amazing. You walk in and the smell of bread and yeast it's just overwhelmingly delicious. Lost a few years in between when I moved away but I came back recently and I found to my delight that they had moved locations but were still in business. Walked in one day, and the smell took me right back to when I was a child. They recommended a sandwich for me and it was amazing. I would recommend this to anyone wanting deli sandwiches or real authentic Italian meats. Absolutely amazing store and amazing service. Personally, if you're looking for a good Italian hoagie, then this place is among the best places in Fairfax County that I've found. My personal favorite is the 'Mad Italian." It hits all the right ratios, from cold cuts to bread, and toppings. The rolls used are of good quality and always taste fresh, they use soft rolls that have a good texture/chew, very similar to Philadelphia's Amoroso's rolls. The cold cuts used seem to be of fine quality. Also, the thing that I like is that they have sliced hot cherry peppers, and sweet sliced cherry peppers available as a topping on your sandwich. If you're familiar with the famed 'The Italian Store' in Arlington, this is what they use on their hoagies as well (and pretty much any real Italian deli from here to New Jersey). Now, is it as good as 'The Italian Store'? Probably not. However, if they offered a hard roll as an option, it might get pretty close. read more

I came here solely on a mission to get cannolis, but unfortunately I was not impressed. I love cannolis and have tried many different ones. The establishment says they sell Vaccaros cannolis, which is an Italian Pastry shop in Baltimore. I used to live in Baltimore and have visited that place many many times, with my last visit being Valentine's Day 2020. I can say that these cannolis are no where near the same. I am not sure if it is because they make the cannoli dip there, or if the cannoli dip is not fresh. I asked the worker how often they get products from Vaccaros and he said once per month, which is not often at all to keep things fresh. I did give two stars instead of one though because the man behind the counter was really nice. All in all, thank you for serving me. read more

Tried here for the first time. I really enjoyed my Mad Italian. I do wish they would have asked if I wanted peppers as I don't really like them. It is hard to find a good hoagie in NOVA and this might be my go to spot from now on. My husband had a different experience. He ordered the New Yorker and it came with mustard which he despises. They have fresh cut deli meats and their sandwiches are huge. My favorite is the "Mad Italian". It was Mad good. And it tasted Italian. How fitting! I do have to admit that this place is on the pricey side with most 8 inch sandwiches priced at or above $8, but they fill you up for sure. Moved to Fairfax two years ago and tried the deli, once I tried their steak and cheese and Italian sub I was hooked and never looked back.

The Deli serves a better-than-average sandwich. I wish that was all I had to say about them, but my overall experience docks them a couple stars for me. First, I enjoyed the sandwich. I was eating with a couple friends, who said their sandwiches were too salty -- and after a second, I realized mine was too. It could just be that we were unaccustomed to the saltiness of the meat combinations (I ordered a Mad Italian, which had a least three different meats), but that's what we tasted. I still enjoyed it. The upside is that the portions were above average. The flavor combinations were good. The bread was not significantly above average in taste and texture. The price, which is more expensive than your average sandwich, was appropriate, given the portion size and general quality. On the other hand, there was clearly some sort of tension between the two cooks who acted as both cashiers and chefs. One of the cooks was berating the younger cook for preparing a sandwich the wrong way, and seemed annoyed and rushed. The younger chef apologized to the customers in front of me for the behavior of the older chef. This happened again, as I waited in line. It wouldn't have bothered me if there was an attempt to keep the conflict under wraps and seem professional. None of this needed to happen in full view of the clientele. On more than one occasion told her that we wanted the sandwiches to be heated, only to be chastised for not telling her that we wanted them heated.
