I came here for mother's day lunch with my boyfriend and his parents. It's a pub in (what felt like to me) the middle of nowhere surrey countryside. it's USP is that it has two (not very friendly, boo!) donkeys outside in the cute little outdoor garden, which would be delightful on a summer's day.
we were sat in the back conversatory, and although the service was friendly and fast, i think the actual conservatory felt a bit shabby and outdated. the food was okay, but nothing to rave about, and i felt it was quite overpriced for what it was. i shared a goats cheese and mushroom starter with my boyfriend, and then had salt and pepper squid for a main course. the portions are quite hearty. my boyfriend's parents both had the vension for mains and felt that it was tough, even though it was cooked to medium. we weren't displeased with our meals at all, and really the people working there were very friendly and appeared to want to go out of their way to provide good customer service, but i wasn't blown away. with a multitude of good pubs to explore in surrey, i'm not sure that we will be returning here anytime soon, but i certainly wouldn't discourage people from visiting and trying it out for themselves! read more
