The winery and grounds are stunning that is apparent. Austin was our server and he was so attentive and accommodating. They offer mocktails for people who want to take it easier on drinking and they were phenomenal! It's so wonderful to have an inclusive option like that. They were just as good as the wines! (Which are also amazing) Back to Austin and the service, he was kind, and helpful. He walked us through every wine and answered all of our questions with ease. Beautiful winery with gorgeous art. My dad is a member here so he likes to come do the ATV tour. I am not a wine lover so I was the reluctant participant on our most recent trip. I have to say I am so glad this is the winery he chose. First of all, the art is gorgeous. The main building is beautiful and I loved looking at the architecture. Our host, Don, was very knowledgeable and answered pretty much every random question we had. The art is all over the property, hence the need for the ATV. It was fun being outside and seeing the art in nature. After the whole tour we had a wine tasting by the lake. It was paired with light bites. The plates the bites were served on were beautiful. Donum really pays attention to the smallest detail which I really appreciated. I think what speaks volumes of the caliber of the tour is going into it my dad said he wasn't sure if he was going to keep this membership. He left purchasing so many bottles that he re-earned his membership. I would highly recommend coming here for a tour. If I'm forced to join the family again to wineries, I want it always to be this one. read more

Beautiful winery built in 2011. 200 acres where 100 of it displays Art installations and the other 100 dedicated vineyards for Chardonnay and Pinto Noir. We were able to experience a tasting paired with canapés. Ivy our guide toured us through the estate and explained the different art installations from various artists. This was our first time viewing and were amazed at the beauty of the estate. The wines we tasted were amazing as well and one of us even became a member! Came here for a tasting plus walking tour, and I had a great time. I ended up driving right by the entrance when I came, so just a heads up to be alert when driving there. You'll buzz in at the gate which will then open and you'll drive down a path that leads to the first piece of art you'll see - a giant white head. After we parked and headed into the main building, we were greeted immediately with glasses of rosé which was nice. I will say the building is incredibly beautiful. The bathrooms even have Le Labo soaps. There's a great amount of natural light, and I liked the artwork and furniture (the table where we had our final tastings had coasters and placemats made from sheep wool). We were a group of five, and we were joined by two couples for our tour. The walking tour was lovely, but I do wish we had a bit more time to pause at each sculpture. Rachel was a great guide and very informative about each piece. I really loved the installation which had music and mirrored pyramids. As we walked, Rachel poured us different wines, and I appreciate that our non-drinking friends got mocktails. At the end of the walking tour, we all had a couple more tastings back at the main building and got to chit chat with the other folks who joined us. We all received favors which were travel-size glass bottles of a rose-scented spray, which I thought was a lovely touch. I would recommend visiting Donum if you're in this area! read more

Getting into this place seems more and more like some kind of Area 51 thing, well ok so I exaggerate wtf. But there is a gatekeeper on hand, unarmed of course. I don't think you have to do yet another tour of the sculpture if you're a member, which one of us was. Needing only to pickup some allotment bottles we opted to not do the guided stroll around. Gabe served some quite fine older Pinot and in the end we did take a ride around with him to see a few new pieces as well as see closeup that huge silvery heart on the hill. Art museum under the guise of a winery This place is a literal art museum. Apparently, a wealthy couple needed a place to store their commissioned sculptures and created this place. They have all kinds of amazing sculptures from world famous artists like ai weiwei. Grounds are stunningly well kept and beautiful. Their wine was excellent as well. They don't really ship their wines out so you either have to come here or become a member to try it. A unique and fun wine tasting experience - definitely worth a visit. read more

Entering in, you witness the first massive art piece. Driving down you pass the Chardonnay on your left. We were greeted by our guide, John, for the next few hours, and he brought us sparking wine to start. John was honestly super professional and was excellent at reading our group. He kept the conversation at our level and discussed in depth things we wanted to discuss. He's very knowledgeable about the area and wine. Excellent wine, focused on pinot noirs. Absolutely tasty and delicious. High in complexity and ended up leaving with a few bottles because of how much depth is in these wines. He then took us for a walk to see all the art - which was super cool. I didn't take much pictures as I was just absorbing it all in. This is honestly one of the things that make this winery very different than others too - it's a very different landscape filled with gardens, lavender, and just really unique art. It was the perfect day with perfect weather, in perfect company. We made reservations weeks in advance. It's a lovely drive into Sonoma and as you pull up to their gate, they confirm your appointment, then buzz you in. Straight away, you'll see artistic sculptures and organized grape vines. As you get near the parking lot, you'll see a lovely section of fresh lavender growing. In a matter of steps, we were graciously greeted by Filipe, who started our tour with a lovely glass of chilled rose. He described all the art on display as we walked through the main building to our private cabana. Our table was set for me and the Birthday Girl. Four flights were paired with scrumptious bites. The flavors are unforgettable! The 2017 Anderson Valley Pinot North was paired with a mini crepe, roasted mushrooms, creme fraiche, and a sprinkle of herb salt. The 2016 Carneros Estate Pinot North was paired with butternut squash, carrot humus, and spiced onion relish. The 2017 Carneros Estate Pinot Noir was paired with paella roasted rice topped with a tomato and herb puree. Afterwards there was a tasting of 4 wines with some accompanying bites. They specialize in Pinot Noir and they range from light to full bodied. bottles cost between $80-150. Be sure to say hi to "Poncho", the resident dog. They had probably the most luxurious portapotty I've had the "privilege" of using. Overall, a great place to explore especially for art lovers. Afterward, a personal tour around the property of their world class, multi million dollar art collection. This is a very special place in Sonoma with museum-quality sculptures. I am frankly hard to please with Pinot Noirs, and they make the only Pinot Noir from Carneros that I like. I found their Russian River and Anderson Valley Pinot Noirs to be diverse, clean, age worthy, and high quality. I wanted to particularly recognize David for his exceptional hospitality. He came from one of wine country's most iconic 3 Michelin-starred restaurants that was tragically lost in the 2020 fires. Donum is quite lucky to have him. While great wines, luxury and beauty abound in Napa, when you experience that elusive fourth dimension of exceptional hospitality that is truly transporting, you never forget it, so thank you. read more

We tasted four wines with four small bites which lasted about 30 minutes and then we received a walk-in tour of the art around the facility. What an incredible experience. They don't let you in the gates if you don't hv a reservation and once in you are in paradise. The giant Plensa work of art with a tree lined drive is very pleasing to the eyes. Once out of yr cars they greet you with a welcome drink and then the experience begins. Two young women were our hosts for the visit, one for the tasting, the other for the art tour of the grounds. Both of them were superb, fun and knowledgeable, personable. They made the visit worthwhile. The private tasting room space is stunning, overlooking the gorgeous landscape. Our tasting focused on three Pinot Noirs from three different locations in their vineyards. Great information from our host and in the printed tasting note cards. We really learned a lot. The wines were good and we bought a couple of bottles to share that evening with friends. A leisurely and informative tasting experience. Then the sculpture art tour with our second personal guide. Enchanting! The sculptures have been placed in amazing spots around the vineyard and lavender gardens. They also give a lovely printed brochure on all the works. This was my first time in this section of the Napa-Sonoma region. We had read a SF Chronicle article about this estate and the art. We were very glad we pursued making a reservation and visited.
