The main problem with the restaurant however, is that it is too popular for the space - so make sure you book in advance. They turned several people away whilst I was there. The decor inside is slightly bizarre, with Salvador Dali-style murals on the walls, but this does not detract from the atmosphere. If anything, it prevents the place from being too posh and stuffy. Where Coffee Club excels is in its food. The menu, for a start, is a thing of wonder. It's impossible not to find anything you like, because it's so varied. Seafood, Chinese & Thai stir fries, pasta, pizza, burgers. Even fish & chips, jacket potatoes or omelettes at lunchtime. While it's easy to assume that it ends up in the category of "Jack of all trades, master of none", this is simply not the case. We all ordered different things and were impressed by how great it was. The starter was a Mediterranean-style mezze, with what must have been homemade hummus, greek yoghurt, olives, halloumi and pitta. For a main course, I had a Thai chicken pasta, which was rather a strange-sounding combination but worked brilliantly. Cooked to perfection, and with just the right amount of spice. I skipped straight to a cup of tea after that, but my boyfriend had a rather tasty looking fudge brownie. While the prices are a little more than you would pay for the average meal, the portions are absolutely huge, so you won't be going hungry. Dinner for 6 plus wine and drinks cost £135. The Poole extension of Rockets and Rascals has taken the baton handed over by the flagship Plymouth branch and run with it. I'll be honest, I'm biased. I was a regular at the Plymouth store and will be here in Poole now I'm local. They are friendly, helpful, community minded, independent and generally pretty darned good. They brew coffee and build good bikes. They cater to mummies and pushchairs, tourists and hardcore cyclists looking for a caffeine fix. They are not cheap, but they are inexpensive. There is a subtle difference, and one which is worth the extra few pennies. If you are looking for an eclectic cafe with good music, excellent food and outstanding coffee look no further. They even have regular rideouts and a loyalty card scheme. Bonus!

I loved the bright, clean…read moreinterior and was surprised to see such a wide range of fresh fish, shellfish and frozen fish. I was especially delighted to find locally caught lobster and crab. The guys were super helpful and very knowledgable. They gave me tips on how to cook my lobster which I have to say was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be going back.
