I finally made it to this bar after hearing about it for years. This is a nice spacious neighborhood bar with good cocktails. I really like their outside area, it's build around redwood trees and feels super cozy. There's covered seating out there so that you can sit and chat with your friend group, and then there's uncovered seating closer to the trees. They don't serve food, but they do allow you to bring outside food in.

Quite a nice find, that's for sure. Jamie W. and I were walking on Telegraph intent on downing a mangonada slushie at the Telegraph Beer Garden (review: https://yelp.to/CQT7tqXoZI). However, it was jam-packed with rowdy drinkers who had trouble setting their volume controls. So I developed a case of small-mouth, so we took an about-face and decided to stop here for the first time. Beyond thirst obviously, what motivated us was my recollection from their Yelp listing that they make a Pimms Cup. I've been surprised how relatively few carry a bottle of Pimms in their inventory, so I was happy with my $12 Pimms Cup. They mixed it with strawberry-infused gin, cucumber, ginger, lemon, and soda, and the effect was quite refreshing (photo: https://yelp.to/iqp443RzbH). Jamie took advantage of their own slushie machine and had the $13 Pineapple Passionfruit Margarita, a not overly sweet treat just heavy enough on the tequila to titillate the palate (photo: https://yelp.to/0kr3BHSYet). As satisfying as the libations were, the highlight was the expansive back patio which features three massive redwood trees and an inviting deck with couches. We came back a couple of weeks later and went for the slushies again, a repeat of the Pineapple Passionfruit as well as the $13 Blue Hawaiian complete with rum, pineapple, coconut cream, and blue curaçao (photo: https://yelp.to/n9p7Jw0u9f). It's been relatively empty when we visit in the late afternoon, which makes coming here and sitting in the patio all the more attractive. DRINKS - 5 stars...between a Pimms Cup and a Blue Hawaiian lies obsession AMBIANCE - 5 stars...one of the best back patios ever SERVICE - 4.5 stars...pretty attentive bartenders TOTAL - 5 stars...not sure what double standard they're referring to but I'll abide by both RELATED - Exploring Oakland? Came here for the Christmas decor as part of Miracle on Telegraph and loved my drink! My party of 4 came on a Sunday night around 6 pm and it wasn't too crowded. They have a lot of Christmas decorations up right now, so I had been wanting to come and check it out for a while. Both the indoor area and the outdoor patio were decked out. Lots of lights everywhere and walls inside were plastered with wrapping paper. Loved the festive vibes! They have a special Christmas cocktail menu right now, with prices ranging from $14 to $18. I got the Christmas Cricket ($16), which has tequila, vanilla liqueur, minty amaro, coco pandan, cream, and mole bitters. This drink was SO good if you like a minty, chocolate-y drink. Highly recommend! I assume it's a riff of the grasshopper cocktail, which is another one of my favorites. The only disappointment was that it wasn't served in a cute Christmas-themed glass. My other friends got the Krampus ($18), which is a strong drink with both tequila and mezcal, among other alcohol, and they really liked it. Again, the choice of cup was a bit questionable though... Would love to come back for drinks from their regular menu after the Christmas pop up is over.

A friend found this place in her search for holiday cocktails, so we had to try it out. We found holiday cocktails and then some. There were plenty of people here on a Wednesday night dressed in festive costumes or bike shorts (no in between). It took a while to reach the front but eventually placed our orders for 3 holiday cocktails: Hot Buttered Rum, Jingle Balls Nog, and Christmas Cricket. The drinks came in the cutest mugs which were for sale and they held our credit card until we finished our drinks and returned them. The drinks were tasty and although on the pricier side, it was worth it for the Christmas cheer and vibes. All the drinks were pretty typical for the holiday season except the Christmas Cricket which we liked the least (tequila didn't go super well with all the other ingredients). Bartenders were friendly and quick at their job, might come again when it's not in holiday mode

Drinks = excellent Christmas Vibes = fire Outdoor Area with Games = priceless Such a great experience, the ambiance was so fun and a great way to get in on the Christmas Spirit. Went a bit early and it wasn't too crowded which is preferable for my husband and I. We got to play jenga and connect 4 in the beautifully painted patio area covered in Christmas. 11/10 recommend.

The Stomper -- current special. Gin, cucumber, lime, bubbles. Delicious.

This place has been one of the go-to's for YEARS. Never fails. My dog loves it here, too.

Haven't been here in a while but so glad to be back! I went for the East Bay Beer Running group on a Tuesday so I was there for the beer. But they had super cute holiday cocktails on their menu that I have to go back to try! They have both indoors and outdoor space and both were super cute, we sat outside. The servers were really nice and going as fast as they could while still making sure each patron got their full attention. And just like everywhere else in uptown Oakland, give yourself ample time for parking.

The atmosphere was lit good music and everyone was so friendly and having a good time. We got there at a pretty good time because a few hours later the tables started to fill up but we had a good time and were able to have good conversation over drinks. I forgot the names but everything is ordered was so strong, bartenders are sweethearts and I couldn't even tell the place was so big from outside looking in. Definitely a must if you haven't already. Cheers!

I normally don't consume alcohol! I come here annually during Yule Tide season to do just that! OMG I have no alcohol tolerance so yippeee! Also, you can buy cute little cups and stuff for which they donate to non-profits. This year, 2022, they are donating to the Seva Foundation!

We had just an amazing time! The place was cozy, people were nice and friendly, and bartender (Eddy) really knew how to make the BEST drinks. I highly suggest everyone to give this place a try, won't be disappointed, I'll promise.

DATE: 08/20/2022 I don't know what drink I got since my friend ordered it for me, but I think it was fairly priced. This place is honestly such a vibe! I spontaneously went here with a friend during a Saturday evening and surprisingly, there was not a lot of people. They have a big outdoor seating area which was nicely decorated. My friend and I had a great time catching up. I looked into their Yelp before making this review and I saw a menu of their holiday cocktails and I could just imagine how nicely decorated this place would be during the holidays! I really suggest this place for a nice vibe to have a chat with friends. It was not too packed and the outdoor seating area just had a really pleasant atmosphere. This is definitely one of the better options around the area for a chill bar place.

Tallboy's martini menu is well-executed. While I didn't personally try one of the slushies, a friend ordered the espresso martini version and gave it a solid thumbs-up. Unfortunately, the experience falls apart when it comes to food and service. Waiting 30+ minutes for two hot dogs (after paying) is hard to justify. When I checked in with a server, she was curt and dismissive. She was quick to explain there was only one person in the kitchen, with no effort to offer a solution, timeline, or even basic courtesy. I understand staffing issues happen. However, customer service is a close second to concept. How an issue is communicated and addressed is what separates good service from bad. What's more frustrating is that these aren't customer problems to absorb. If the kitchen is understaffed, if tables aren't being cleared in a timely manner at a seat-yourself spot, those are management problems. Guests should not have to choose to leave without the food we paid for. There's a lot of competition out there, and concepts alone aren't enough to bring people back. I genuinely wanted that hot dog. That's probably the most disappointing part of the whole experience. Great drinks, solid ambiance, but the service needs serious attention.

Technically, we got to try it out the week after, but they extended their menu for the week after. We came that Sunday evening. Parking can be a bit of a hassle because it is indeed Downtown Oakland. Your whole party has to get the Restaurant Week Menu. So we all got their: Aperitif Cocktail - Tomato Beef or Purely Passion (Non Alcoholic) I got the Purely Passion. Good, nothing to write home about. Umami Tots This was really good! Very Crispy. Chili Cucumbers This one was actually really good. Szechuan Salt and Pepper Wings Good, but maybe too crispy? Wings are always good but this one didn't stand out for me. Mango Sorbet (They changed this from the Apple Sorbet that day) My favorite of the whole night. I usually don't like sorbet but this one was soft and easy to eat and has like a creamy like texture? Trying this made me want to try their other dessert item. We also ordered 2 add ons - the Hojicha Miso Tiramisu and the Korean Mapo Tofu. Hojicha Miso Tiramisu was OK. It contained too much alcohol for all of us and was bitter. Disappointing. I liked the Mapo Tofu! I liked that it was Crispy and that it came with rice. Drinks wise, my friends also got to try the Tomato Beef and White Rabbit. I don't really drink alcohol so I just sipped a bit. Tomato Beef was too alcoholic for me, couldn't really taste the tomato or the beef, but I could see what White Rabbit was going for. Overall, I'm really impressed by the food. I usually think Bar Food isn't very good, but this blew me away. Drinks are OK.

The sketchy part about it was the hostess at the front door said they're not accepting cash for the cover fee and they are only accepting Zelle . We search the email to pay but it asked for first and last name and at that point she said never mind you guys can go sit down . so that was weird number one ! Especially because I would assume as a business your Zelle handle would have something about the business and not a personal persons Zelle . number two I know that their menu always changes depending on seasonal products so that's not a big deal , but I know they usually always have oysters . when I went to go place my order the waitress said that they do not have oysters and explained to me that it's a party tonight so they only have certain items .... but luckily for me one of the cooks from the back was standing behind her so I assume when I walked away, he corrected her because she came back and said oh we do have oysters ?! very interesting to me .
