First time trying this place and loved everything about it! It's a really cute spot with indoor and outdoor seating. The service is so friendly, helpful and patient. The chai latte (with a shot of espresso added) was delicious and so were the huevos rancheros. The ingredients all seemed very fresh and we enjoyed our experience - can't wait to come back!

There are 3 small stairs down to the front door (I'm sure there is a handicap accessible ramp somewhere but just wanted to point it out). We dined for brunch at the outdoor patio (there's also a space heater if needed) and street dining. The inside looked beautiful and opens to bar top seating and then dining area. We had great service but expect really pricey coffee ($7-9) and entrees ($40pp after tip without coffee). We shared 2 dishes and both were very delicious! The eggs benedict ($27) was cooked perfectly with a rich hollandaise. I asked for the home fries cooked well done and they were absolutely crispy and lightly seasoned to perfection! The portion of the thick cooked bacon was generous. The macro Bowl ($35) was very filling with a creamy tahini dressing. The dish is presented deconstructed but forms a great bowl when mixed together! I would definitely come here if the dishes were just $10 less but a great experience overall!

hidden gem on the UES! downstairs, removed from the street, dimly lit romantic little joint. superrr cute and cozy bar right when you walk in. tables in the back. coat check was great because there's not much room to put a jacket at the table. croquettes were a special- little cold on the inside but still yummy. burger was solid! kale caesar is always good (with bacon, crunchy croutons, anchovies and a runny egg)

I recently attended a private 30th birthday celebration at The East Pole, and it was a fantastic experience. The venue is beautifully designed with a cozy yet upscale vibe, perfect for an intimate gathering. The upstairs party room does have a very narrow staircase and only one bathroom as well. Which wasn't an issue until the end of the evening where you'd have to go downstairs to use the other restroom. The location is great, tucked away on the Upper East Side, making it accessible but not too touristy. The staff were attentive, and the food was delicious. We had a dinner party menu which was delicious. Upon arrival was standing cocktails and appetizers. Their mini crab cakes were phenomenal. I'm convinced I ate an entire tray myself. I ordered the black angus skirt steak which was cooked to my rare preference of temperature. The servers took note and did great with my food allergy as some places don't always take you serious. They brought out separate of the sides for just me as I couldn't eat many things with a mushroom/truffle allergy. The private dining space was ideal for our group, offering just the right amount of privacy while still being part of the overall ambiance. However I would say it's definitely a tight space when everyone is up and standing. I would definitely recommend The East Pole for anyone looking to host a special event or celebration. Only reason for 4 stars is that it did get a bit tight and the limited bathroom design.

Great Sunday brunch in this cosy eatery. Pumpkin bread was fresh, warm and tasty. Enjoyed their special andouille omelette. The eggs Benedict came with delicious thick slices of bacon. Frittata was a tad bland. Definitely worth a visit. The service was excellent. Our host Pete was wonderful and we enjoyed a special experience.

Lovely drinks, food, and wine and a local legend hosts at the door. You may rent private spaces for undisturbed dining. But beware, pay only cash. Recently, our drinks took very long to arrive. It was late at night and not crowded. It was odd because the service is usually speedy. My friend left her credit card with the bartender as they requested us to run a tab. Unfortunately, someone there tried to use the credit card at that time in another country for thousands of dollars. Luckily, she doesn't use the card much so the charges were denied. Hopefully it's just one employee who after we reported it was asked to leave. We will try again, and this time bring cash. Details will follow if we return.

Gorgeous place with amazing drinks and menu. Rashid our bartender and Brian the manager were both amazing- when they found out it was a special day for me they sent my friend and I a glass of champagne in addition to our drink order. The perfect place for a special occasion or a dinner with loved ones definitely will be back!

Moscow mules - AMAZING and a must try!

Literally rating this restaurant 10 / 10. Everything start to finish was incredible. The Moscow mules were probably one of the best I've had in a while (would literally come back just for them!). As starters we had the burrata, salmon tartare, oysters and kale Cesar. Each appetizer was better then the last. Highly recommend all of them! For dinner we shared the pappardelle with lamb which was absolutely out of this world. The ambiance also made the experience that much better. If you sit towards the back (which I highly recommend), there are beautiful sky lights which give amazing natural light. Also fun fact: the outside of the restaurant (which has great outdoor seating) is featured in sex and the city when Carrie is wondering around UES :-)

I brought my 2 kids and my husband there on my birthday. The Food there is ok, but the service is .... Eh... well, not so good. I reserved my table on OpenTable, and when I arrived, I just asked if I can sit at a more private table at the end corner, as I have kids, I don't want to disturb other ppl. But the lady said no, and told me those table are for reservations only. Well I reserved, what's the point? And they put us at the middle entrance (first table where everyone : the customers and waitresses can pass by) Whatever Put in a good way, they have special attitude or "Arrogant" in an elegant way you can say, but if only you are non white ppl you might experience that, And to be honest, I don't want to think that way, but I felt that way. I'm Sorry if I'm wrong. But you can go and feel it by yourself, at least their EGGS BENEDICT in brunch manu is quite tasty.

The food is always amazing and the ambience is great. We went for brunch and the amazing bartender Michaela made me a kombucha drink that was amazing.

As we had our cocktails we discussed going somewhere else as the vibe was flat. But my husband convinced me to stay as it's already 8:30. We head upstairs to our table, only to be greeted by another less enthusiastic server. He never told us his name or offered up any menu highlights. I was excited to have bone marrow and escargot. Both failed epically. The bone marrow was inedible as it was like cold custard. Escargot had zero flavor and a real lack of garlic and good butter. Tasted more like vegetable oil than good butter. We shared the lobster pasta entree. Tasted more like Mexican goulash. No Italian flavors to be found in the sauce. Never once did the nameless waiter stop and inquire about our meal. Just all around a poor experience and a disappointing Friday night. There are far better places that appreciate your patronage. We will not be coming back. Not worth it.

The host came across as indifferent / borderline rude, which set the tone from the start. During dinner, when our second round of drinks arrived, the server seemed unsure where they belonged~even though the original glasses were still clearly on the table. The food itself was fine. The standout dish was the lamb tartare, which was excellent, and to be fair, everyone's meat was cooked exactly as requested. Overall, it was an okay meal, but based on our experience, it didn't quite match the level of praise suggested by the reviews.

The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

The bartender knew the drinks inside and out and was able to make some good recommendations. We had the Profunda and two of us had the Imprimatura. Creative, thoughtful, balanced! We also ordered spiced nuts and half a dozen oysters, which were fresh and tender. The bar area was modern and lovely so we were almost reluctant to depart when our table was ready! However, that reluctance dissipated when we entered the bright and airy dining room. It felt like we were eating in a very upscale greenhouse! Great natural light made for a relaxing atmosphere. We opted for the 3-course menu as we had plans to tour the museum afterwards and couldn't fathom doing so after the 8-course tasting menu! We also did the add-on wine pairing. Initially, we were going to order a bottle of wine but the wine list is 150 pages long, and why tie yourself to one varietal? Before the meal even began, we enjoyed 2 amuse bouche offerings; a fish confection and jamon serrano on crackers We started with the eggs on eggs on eggs - completely worth the supplement; unctuous, umamai, decadent. A symphony of flavors and textures. Since there were 3 of us, the server thoughtfully brought out 3 toasts so we could easily share. Before the "real" food started arriving, we were also brought a marble loaf and light, airy butter. Two of us started with the chilled lobster starter; one had the white bean cappelletti. The white beans were the standout! The garlic flavor was a beautiful compliment to the meaty morels without being overpowering, and we were very glad for the marble loaf to soak up the sauce! While the lobster was super fresh and the dish executed perfectly, the lemon was a tad overpowering. The bartender highly recommended the chicken; however, two of us opted for the sea trout and one had the pork. I didn't sample the pork, but the sea trout was velvety and rich, with a beautifully scented saffron broth. To finish, we had the dark chocolate cremeux (complex, adult, DANGEROUS!), the yuzu gelato (fresh and tart!) and the deconstructed carrot cake (cozy and familiar). A note about the wine - Isabelle the sommelier was a true standout! She chose some unusual pairings that worked perfectly with our meals and explained in good detail about each wine and why she selected it. In addition to having a perfect pairing, we also got some good educational enrichment. Isabelle is clearly passionate about wine and her selections and service really added to the meal. The food, for me, is a bit more mixed. There are a few standout touches I really enjoy, especially the butter service and the bagel service, which always feel fun and well done. The French onion soup was memorable the first time I had it, though I've since had an even better version elsewhere that raised the bar for me. Some dishes land better than others. The Caesar salad is fine but not particularly memorable, the pasta dishes are generally okay, and I didn't love the artichoke dish, which felt a bit tough and underwhelming. The mac and cheese also didn't quite hit for me and felt a bit heavy without much payoff. That said, I can absolutely see the appeal of this restaurant--especially the experience, the atmosphere, and the service. My friend particularly loves the fries, which seem to be a consistent favorite.
