Ordered a Cappucino and tea they were ok but dint like the fact they served it in To-Go cup straight away with out asking. Food and atmosphere was good but watched the "barista" throw an elderly woman out for having a bottle of water and a graham cracker for a low blood sugar. He was extremely rude and followed her out into the courtyard telling her to Keep it moving even as she was apologetic. Our group questioned " Seriously?" at which time he scolded us and told us our dollar bagels and we do not matter. Very odd interaction. Definitely will not be back. read more

A group of us visited flushing and walked around. It's a nice little town. There was this coffee sign lit up so bright. Everyone that was with got excited and headed towards it. But come to find out it was closed in the middle of the day on a Thursday. It seems like this place is closed 90% of the time. Don't waste your time or excitement on this place. read more

Once I saw that this cute downtown coffee shop was connected to a bakery, my day got a little better. My aunt has lived in Flushing for years, and she's in here nearly every morning getting her mocha fix. Since she's so hung up on it, that's what I ordered when I stopped in a few weeks ago. Keep in mind, I'm not a coffee expert nor do I react strongly to caffeine, but what I can tell you is that it was very tasty! While waiting for our order (mom and grandma were with me), we walked over and bought some fresh scones from the bakery (I recommend blueberry!). We sat at one of the tables near the window and people watched and chatted while enjoying our morning snack. A very nice spot right in the heart of downtown. read more

Disappointing. Sat down inside to drink my coffee I bought and eat my granola bar only to be approached by someone who works there and told that everything I ate AND drank inside had to be purchased there- even water. What kind of public place won't even let you bring in your own WATER? Let me answer that for you, the Elbow Room! Trust me don't come here. It's overpriced anyways. read more

This place has a really cool set up. Old Victorian style building with beautiful woodwork and nice wall art and tables. The only thing holding them back is the fact they have absolutely no idea how to make coffee. I go here out of pure coffee desperation and end up regretting it every time. The staff is friendly, but obviously poorly trained. I can say out of the four times I've come here, my order has ended up being wrong every time. Depending on who's working, you could see your coffee made incorrectly in several different ways. If the owner ends up reading this, please do yourself and your patrons a favor and get your baristas some damn proper training. This place has potential, but if you're going to do something, it's best to do it correctly or why even bother? read more

Looks better than it really is... The last time I checked (within this past year), they still didn't accept credit cards. Seriously? They instruct guests to "go hit the ATM" up the street! Is that really a way to do business in the year 2015? It's not like their coffee or pastries are that great, anyway, to make up for the inconvenience. They don't have signage indicating the fact that they don't allow credit card transactions and they don't have an indoor ATM (not that people care for that, either, because I know that I certainly don't). The last time that I stopped in, (I only stopped in because I had an appointment with my now former CPA down the street to pick up some documents) the girl behind the counter was rude and told me I could go to the ATM down the street- in the middle of a massive rainstorm! Yeah, sure! Beyond all that nonsense, I find it odd that you can just walk into the bakery next door while it's closed as well. That's just weird. The few times I've ordered something here, my drinks were just okay, but nothing outstanding and the pastry was dry, like it had been sitting around awhile, perhaps for a couple days. So, rock hard scones and muffins paired with weak coffee. Yeah, not really what I was hoping for. On one occasion, I had a cocoa that wasn't bad, but I had to keep reminding the barista that I wanted whip crème on it! Why did I have to keep reminding her? During a different visit, I had to basically talk the barista through the step by step process of making a Café Mocha- she really didn't have a clue! Wow. It's a cute little coffee shop, very charming and inviting, but not worth the while. They need to invest in training their staff and stop the "cash only" method of payment. Nice little gem of a place right downtown to get a good cup of joe and relax, do some work or have a quiet meeting. So many coffeehouses have the music blasting which means everyone talks louder but you won't find that here. Could use some soft background music. Light and bright setting in an old Victorian type location w/ lots of real wood trim and doors. And they're open every evening until nine or ten. Nice patio out back w/ umbrellas. Be sure to pop next door to the adjoining bakery, all fresh and run by the owner. read more

The coffee is fantastic. It's very cozy and quiet, which is probably why I almost always see someone working on something when I walk in! The interior is very interesting and appealing. There is a patio outside that also adds more character and comfort. The only reason I won't give five stars is because they only accept cash and they are a bit overpriced. read more

Elbow Room's perfect for Flushing. We need a place like this when we come in from Chicago. The espressos and Americanos are great, and the pastries from the bakery next door (which connects to the cafe on the inside) are unbelievably great. I wish places like this were back in the city -- which is saying a lot because Chicago is silly with great bakeries and cafes, and, as someone who works at home and loves cafes generally, I go to them daily. read more

Very nice, relaxing spot to have a coffee, play a game or read a book (they have a lot of interesting books to lead through), and chat. We have been here twice and really enjoyed it. The building is old and could use some upkeep but I did find it clean. The bakery is connected and has some delicious offerings. We have tried the raspberry scones and Pasteur. We were able to bring our dogs in the coffee shop, which is always a bonus. read more

I love the atmosphere of this place! It's a little on the smaller side but it makes it feel personal and cozy. It gets a bit tight in the morning when all the older men are there enjoying their coffees and newspapers. They have a nice patio in the back as well as a bakery connected to it that is owned by the same person as the coffee shop. My coffee order is a little complicated but the barista was super nice, friendly, and willing to learn about the drink. The coffee is delicious, as well as the espresso. Flavoring was perfect. They have a lot of different options for flavor, coffee, and milk as well. They have soy too! Awesome prices, great tasting coffee, and a great experience!
