All barbers are not created equal. My barber retired after two decades with her. I got the same haircut over and over. Very predictable and great quality. I tried Elite. They were friendly and prompt, but they are emphatic that there are no reservations and you just take the next barber that comes up. Fair enough, but I like predictability. If a different person cuts my hair every two weeks. I will get a different haircut every two weeks. If "good enough" mattered to me, I would definitely use these guys. They are who they say they are. I decided to take my son here because franchise salons just can't cut it. We went this morning (Saturday) and had to wait a while. No problem; it's Saturday. Finally JAMIE was ready, and my son told her what he wanted then relaxed in the chair. She did a great job, and he was really pleased with the final product. Unlike franchise salons, the price at this independent shop was a little higher ($25 cash). It's worth it, though, to get a quality experience and a great look. Besides, he liked the "bro-mosphere." Great place to get a haircut. The friendly, old fashioned barbers, accompanied by the antiqued environment make this place very pleasant. Barbers are all very skilled barbers. However, when I started going here 6 years ago, haircuts were at $15. They keep sneaking the price up here and there, and now it is $20 for a haircut. This is my go to haircut spot. They look like a place from the Old West mixed with the personal service from the Waltons. If you are a guy looking for a real haircut with pleasant people, this is the place for you. They will also give you a straight razor shave or any other manly hair treatment. There are three chairs up front that are always busy and one in the back that is overflow. All of the barbers have been here forever which means that they are good, personable and know their job. Make sure to give them a tip because they are definitely doing good service. The inside of the store has comfortable seating while you wait and is decorated like an old western saloon. I always enjoy the brief wait reading thru one of their many manly magazines. It ups my testosterone factor every time I come here. read more

Worst haircut I have ever gotten. I came in with pretty long hair probably 5-6 inches and told the lady that I would like to trim the top with scissors and then fade the sides. She started out fine on the sides but on the top she never stopped using the trimmers and ran a 3 over the top of my head. The guy did not cut my hair the way I asked him to and then charged me $20 for what I felt was a $10 effort. This is as old-school barbershop as one can get - just what my husband was looking for. After finding a true barbershop in Italy, where the chairs are other than your parents, my husband has been lamenting that everywhere else is too expensive or full of hipsters that just try too hard. This is not that kind of place. Coffee and a taco when you walk in, newspapers ready to be read, and a straight razor to clean up your neck. Appointments are are not required for hair cuts. Two days a week, they offer wet shaves, and appointments might be necessary for that. For under $20, this is the best place in the area to get your ears lowered! read more

Spanning my first haircut until my barber retired (23 years later) I found myself in that traditional style barber shop receiving a traditional style barber cut. Sadly, after he retired I spent the next 10 years trying to find a shop like his. I moved to New Braunfels, Tx and yelped Barber Shops near me.. Honestly, I was put off by the name, sounded like they were trying to hard. I ventured in, it's just a mile from my house.. I walked into the shop and was met my the lovely smell only a true barber shop offers, greeted by men and a woman, who were friendly and genuine in their hello followed by an offer for coffee. All dressed in the attire I had grown up seeing my barber in, I was put at ease.. All Barbers were busy, after about 5 minutes (perfect wait time) I was seated and cut to perfection! Being happy with a hair cut has been few and far between for me that last 10+years.. Oh.. Wait, you only accept cash? Err, uhhhh.. The barber kindly informed me of an ATM and allowed me to walk out without paying.. Haircut price was about what I expected $20 with a good tip. Boy was I surprised to have such a cool, old-fashioned barber shop experience. This place is a gem. Do not pass up an opportunity to try it! Just got my hair cut with the new owner Joshua. Although I had an appointment, he was busy on the phone as many people required his attention as the new owner. He apologized for being a few minutes late to start but did a great haircut anyway. He offered and insisted that the haircut should be on him as he spent much of the cutting time on the phone but what is right is right and I paid. I think the place looked a little worse for wear, ie. a large dirt spot under the coat rack, but I can overlook that for now. I want to give Josh some time to get this shop looking like it used to with the original owner Christine. It may never be the same but you can still get a great cut.
