Once we got out to the middle of the sound, it was NON STOP. There were four of us, and we must have reeled in at least 20 bluefish each. Didn't get any stripers, they are pretty outnumbered. The captain and mate do most of the work, all you really have to do is reel the fish in. I think you can take turns driving or preparing bait if you want. $550 for a half day (5 hours or so). Four of us was perfect. Bring beer, snacks, etc! Boat was great too, good condition, and the captain and mate know there stuff. Highly recommended!

My mom and I had intended to go to a place in Branford but unfortunately they were sold out so we trekked to Clinton based on previous reviews. I am so glad we did! The Branford place was not as aesthetically nice, nor was the staff as helpful. The ambience, location and crew at Indian River were fantastic. I actually live south on the shoreline in CT, and none of the places in Fairfield county even compare to this. As a matter of fact - I had gone to a place in Norwalk the week before and the staff were a bunch of teenagers who a) only took cash (suspicious), making me drive 10 min out of the way to get cash b/c they didn't have an ATM and b) didn't help me in or out of the water and c) had dirty and gross (literally wet from the last person) lifejackets. This place was the total opposite. Very professional. They provided maps, clear directions and explanations on where to go. The lifejackets were clean. The guys helped us into and out of the water. There was a changing facility and also a little shop (and restrooms) right on premises. Norwalk on the other hand (can't help but compare) gave me wrong/confusing directions and had sent me out to islands that had nowhere to get out of the kayak. The water there was choppier and I was competing with boats who left us in their wake the whole time. This place had a very nice, calm, waterway to kayak in. There was one small area where you had to watch out for boats but it was a small area. Love this place and will be driving the hour and a half whenever I want to kayak - even though I life in a beach town in Fairfield county!

My girls (9 and 12) were able to paddle board and kayak on their own. They never paddle boarded before but caught on quick. I used an inflatable paddle board at another location in CT but found the non-inflatables at Black Hall to be much easier to stand. The price is very reasonable here. I believe it was $40 per person for 2 hours on the paddle board. I was in the tandem kayak with my 9 year old. We were paddling out of sync at first but got into a nice rhythm in no time. Some bickering at first but all in good fun. 2 hours was plenty of time for us. They're also very friendly here! Paul mentioned that they are open pretty much all year round though you probably don't want to kayak or paddle board when the weather gets bad in the winter. The store sells a lot of fishing equipment and bait. We saw someone purchasing eels. Yikes! Restroom inside. Love this place.

Despite the weather not being the best, May 2025, the islands were not crowded which is why it was arranged to go at this time! Greek cuisine deserves its own spotlight. Whether dining at a seaside taverna or exploring bustling markets, I was treated to flavors that celebrated freshness and tradition. Imagine biting into tomatoes so sweet they taste like candy, or savoring seafood caught hours before it landed on your plate. I will always savor the Feta cheese and the Ouzo! Joy recommended several high quality restaurants and we weren't disappointed! Joy did her very best to give us many options of activities or to go it alone! I did not know that we had this small treasure by the beach…read more My daughter saw it during the school trip and wanted to stop and investigate. So nice to visit a small animal Nature Center and watch live a bird nest. There was CPR training being conducted so one of the rooms was closed but for the first time ever I got to see a blue jay bird up close. So Neat
