Really enjoyed eating a late morning breakfast here. The staff were helpful and friendly. My breakfast entree was delicious. The bacon was crisp, and eggs were perfectly cooked. Liked the potatoes too. The coffee was hot and tasted very fresh. Fun place to really enjoy breakfast while sipping on coffee. Relaxing atmosphere! Portions are large so come hungry. I appreciated that I could order gluten free toast with my breakfast.

Excellent breakfast at the Eye Opener! I especially loved the pancakes! Service was good despite the fact that we had a bigger group.

Red Eye Hash. So delicious with a little spice. If you like corn beef you must try this.

The food was delicious and the service was great. Me and my family loved this place. We definitely be back.

Eggs Benedict with fresh tomatoes and spinach added and well done cheese covered home fries.

I have been eating here for years. Never have I ever had bad food or service. Always above average. Today I ordered my usual eggs Benedict add tomato and spinach with cheese on well done home fries and Irish coffee. I kid you not Shayla on the window made the best eggs Benedict I've ever had from the eye opener. Gary was amazing with our coffees and service. You are missing out if your not here. I have a picture but need to post.

Atmosphere: I really liked the style of this place. A lot of seating, cool decoration with art of Akron and such on the walls. They even had some pretty nice merch for sale. Seemed very clean and everyone was having fun and enjoying their food. Food: I ordered the "Spot On" which is their title for sausage gravy over biscuits. I also got two eggs in the side as well (I like scrambled eggs in my sausage gravy and biscuits but there was no option to add them) and lastly, I got a mimosa. Kayla ordered the Red Eye Hash and a Bloody Mary. When the Bloody Mary and mimosa came out, I was instantly impressed with how big the mimosa was (although I thought it was silly to charge $1 for a single slice of bacon in any Bloody Mary). My food came out and my eggs were steaming hot but unfortunately, my sausage gravy was cold. You can definitely tell the sausage gravy is not home made and likely comes out of a bladder that is just heated up but I also wasn't expecting grandma back there making gravy from scratch either, just wish it would have been heated properly in the first place as to help me keep my mind off the fact it comes in a bag. To be honest, I wasn't mad at it. It satisfied the craving until I can make some at home. Kayla said her Red Eye Hash was incredible. She said the corn beef was super tender and wow! It was huge! Overall we were very full and very pleased at the end of it and definitely will return to try another menu item. Not a bad meal for $33!

We found this great little spot today for breakfast and some killer Bloody Mary's.

It's less than a 10 minute drive from downtown Akron but it's off the beaten path. All locals (except me) in here. When I went (10AM Friday) the place was almost full, and I was dining alone, so I sat at the counter, happily next to the kitchen. To look at the kitchen was like looking inside a bee hive, bustling with activity but barely a sound. I could just make out what was being calmly stated "2 Silver Dollar, Salmon, Country Fried, 2 Over Easy..." It was fun to watch, but what was important was the output. It took just over 6 minutes from the time I order until it was sitting in front of me, and everything was perfect! The waitresses were so efficient. I saw my order hit the window and in about 12 seconds it was delivered. They were so customer focused, they were (jokingly) fighting over refilling my tea. When I was done and paid for I waited outside for Uber to pick me up (3 min). I looked back on what I'd just experienced, and snapped a picture of the two parking lots of cars for Fred's Diner. I counted and there were 32 cars at Fred's. OK maybe 10 were staff so 22 cars for customers, let's say on average there were 2 customers per car (remember I walked here so no car for me). By my calculation, Fred's was feeding 44 people every 30 minutes or so. No wonder they're only open 4 days a week and only for breakfast - lunch. I calculate they might serve 3200 meals in those 4 days, and then take 3 days off to get ready for the next week. I love this place. Wish I lived here so I could come more often.

I particularly appreciate that they use real potatoes for their hashbrowns, not the frozen/freeze dried crap most places serve up these days. The service was great, coffee was strong, and our bellies are fullllll.

Took a chance as we had never heard of it but the open 24 hours a day sign beckoned is in. What a surprise! A cute retro diner vibe. Something led me to order the gyro and it was phenomenal, not Greece level, but they griddled both the gyro meat and the pita so it was piping hot and then layered with cold tzatziki, lettuce, onion and tomato.... Sooo good. Fries were crispy, hot, and plentiful on everyone's plate. The kids chicken strip meal was unbelievably crispy and juicy and flavorful. Two burgers were ordered and both were loved. And even at the late hour service was friendly and attentive. The only thing keeping that 5th star is the whole place and all the condiments etc on the table need wiped down and the floors swept and mopped. I tried not to look too closely at anything as I enjoyed my delish dinner. But if you've never been you should try it!
