I stopped in for a haircut on my way to work. I've been here before, and the quality of the haircut has always been good. This visit was no exception--the barber did a solid job. However, at checkout I was informed that their payment system was down and was asked to pay $40 via Apple Pay. The price caught me by surprise, especially since there were no prices posted and the cost wasn't discussed before the haircut. While I had already received the service and paid without issue, I felt the charge was significantly higher than I expected for the haircut provided. The haircut itself was good, but in my opinion it did not justify the $40 price. Had I known the cost in advance, I likely would have chosen a different barber. Because of the lack of pricing transparency, I don't plan to return. I hope this review helps future customers ask about pricing beforehand to avoid any surprises. read more

One of the many new stores in the recently opened Gainesville Square retail complex in Gainesville, VA! I went in here the other day for some help. I recently had surgery on my left elbow and due to the fact that I have to restrict movement of my arm and be very careful with it - it's hard to do mundane, everyday tasks - such as shaving, trimming the beard and mustache - and so forth. So I stopped in for a beard and mustache trim - and a face and neck shave. I've never had my face shaved with a straight razor before. The whole process is enjoyable - they tilt you back in a chair, slap some substance on your skin, then place a very hot towel on your neck and face for a minute or so, then lather you up - then shave time. I did not catch the names of the two gentleman and the one woman working the shop that day - the woman trimmed my beard and mustache and shaved the back of my neck, then transferred me to one of the guys for the main shave. Both guys sounded like they had Western European/Mediterannean accents - but I could be wrong! :-) Nice little shop! Check it out! read more

I have been to this barber shop several times and now coordinate my visits to this area with when I need a haircut. They are organized and have plenty of barbers and chairs available. In addition, during peak times they have a ticket system and also have free popcorn. They are cash only, but do have an ATM in case you forgot to stop by the bank. In addition, most barbers shops cut too much hair but their staff actually listen to me and when I say "trim the tips" they actually do that instead of just cutting away. we've been going here since it opened after finding it via coupon in the local paper. One of the barbers used to work at the American Barber Shop at Atlas Walk. $10 for kids, $12 for adults, free soda/juice/water, popcorn, and lollipops for the kids. Straight razor trim and a hot towel for the dads. This is now our regular place for cuts. read more

Came in as a new walk-in to fix mistakes from a haircut from another barber shop; my buzz cut was crowned and not straight up as I had requested. I sat down but another customer was already waiting but insisted that he'd wait for Ha. I sat down in Nguyen's chair and stated that I just needed to straighten/tighten buzz cut on the sides and back. When she was about done, she hands me a hand mirror and asks me if everything is ok. Looked and clearly see my left side has horizontal ripples and right side was faded at a different angle. Told her the mistakes that I see and she did try to fix them. After having to point out mistakes twice to her, I simply accepted that this was a bad haircut. Nguyen even stated that is all she could do. What? The owner is one of the barbers named HA. I have been following her around for 6 years now when she worked for other people. She does an amazing job and takes true pride in what she does. When she opened this location herself I was very proud her and have enjoyed going there on a regular basis. My wife and I moved to Tyson's Corner, VA from Manassas and I still drive all the way out here just to have her cut my hair. It is worth the traffic and congestion just to have her handle it. My wife and I are now moving to Texas with my work so I will no longer get to have this outstanding barber cut my hair. Which BTW I have a flat top and she is the best on the east coast. She can cut a flat top free hand perfectly!!! We will miss visiting and if I am ever back in the area for business I will absolutely take the drive out to see HA and her shop. Some of the pictures and reviews on this listing are not from this location. People are confusing this shop with another local shop located in the shopping center with Wegmans. That being said my son and I have been coming here for years. Sometimes there can be a wait but generally nothing too unreasonable. Cash or check only so come prepared. Currently $15 for an adult and $13 for a child. They have free popcorn while you wait and lollipops for the kids after. We usually go to Nguyen or Ha and they always do a great job. read more

Worst haircut ever. It's one thing to take 50 minutes to do a men's haircut, it's another to chop off parts of both sides of the hair and give it a round shape. Who does that? I showed the picture of my last hair cut multiple times. Most hair stylists generally LEAVE those sides alone. If I wanted her to touch that part, I would have asked for it or I would not have bothered to show her my old haircut. read more

Best $10 haircuts in the Gainesville area, staff is friendly and nice, I've been three times and had a haircut by each barber since they opened. They have all done a great job cutting my hair to my request and spend the time to do a nice job, not just a rush cut like so many other places. On the tail end of a bad customer service experience at a different barbershop, I headed to the Famous Barber Shop about 10 minutes before they closed on a Saturday evening. The lady was locking the door, but had customers inside in the barber chairs. She saw me and I asked her if she was closed, and she said yes, but "come in". That was the great customer service indication that I needed. Since then (October) I've been a loyal customer. My haircuts have always been good, but I'm rating them as very good because of their customer service, combined with their cuts, and their price, which is better than average. read more

Hot towel what rub down is a nice touch. I went when it wasn't busty so barber spent some time doing a really fine job. Very small place but it works for me. I stopped going to Haymarket barber shop for now, because not too happy with some of the barbers there. read more

I've been a regular customer since the week they opened several years ago. Ha and Gino have been there since day one and they are always pleasant. They're located close to where I live, they do a good job, the price is reasonable and I'm in and out in about 20 minutes ... what's not to love?
