Grew up in sunny California, Los Angeles to be exact. All those years my mother took me to pumpkin patches that were located in supermarket parking lots. Today, I experienced the real deal. A pumpkin patch at a real FARM! Took my 2 month old with my husband and as soon as we arrived we knew we were going to have a fun day. The entrance to the farm was a bit tricky since we were coming from Monterey, but we eventually found out of the Speckles exit. Parking was great. As soon as you walk up the farm you see a cute little store and the entrance to the pumpkin patch. Follow the trail and boom you are in pumpkin heaven! Big, small, fancy and even weird pumpkins filled the fields! After picking the right pumpkins we decided to check out the little store and there's organic fruit and vegetables and also lots of books for kids. We decided to get a berry/apple pie. By far the BEST pie I've had. Don't forget to take a pie home! We are definitely coming back next year when my daughter is a little bigger to try out the hay ride and cow train! read more

By far the best pumpkin patch I have every been to. This farm is family owned and operated. I bought my 2 year old son and we had a fantastic time. Free admission, free puppet show, and free tractor ride (before 2pm). There is local produce and homemade pies for purchase as well as you pick flowers and pumpkins. This is a must visit in the Monterey, Carmel, Salinas area! We will be back thank you!!! read more

I've been getting my produce here for 4-5 years now. What hooked me initially was being able to walk away while eating a peach that was ripe, sweet, juicy, and bore no resemblance to granite! What's kept me coming back have been mostly the strawberries and tomatoes. Most supermarket berries and tomatoes are picked way too early so they can survive being shipped to market then allowed to "ripen" in the store, which means they're generally irredeemably under-ripe and flavourless. The Farm grows their own organic strawberries and heirloom tomatoes (among other veggies, and some fruits). So nothing genetically modified, and they can pick them when they're actually ripe. The strawberries are red all the way through and they are, as many people have forgotten, a sweet fruit. (I took some of their berries to my parents' place one time and mom said, "Great! We can slice them and sprinkle some sugar on them..." I cut her off saying, "Mom, try one. They do *not* need sugar!" She agreed after tasting, but it was sad that that was her first thought, especially living here in a town whose main "industry" is agriculture.) The tomatoes are tender and have so incredibly much flavour! And so much difference between the varietals... From sweet to tart and everything in between. read more

Such a cute little farm! Sweet and simple, just like the name. My family and I spent a cozy afternoon on our way to Monterey and attended a fall event the farm was hosting. My 1.5 year old lost it when he saw the large bunnies and we spent some time cuddling and petting them. You can also use one of the many wagons to cart your kids around the perimeter of the farm and view the crops. They also have a really nice marketplace, with produce as well as rustic decor and gifts. I'm not exactly a person who envisions free time as hanging out with goats, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. Time goes by slowly here, and your stay will be peaceful! After driving past this for years, I finally discovered this gem of an organic farm right off of Highway 68 at the Spreckles exit. It's a working farm with a small petting zoo, a gift shop, picnic area and a fresh fruit/vegetable stand. It was beautiful and relaxing to walk around, with pretty flower gardens, pumpkins, goats, chicken and baby rabbits, all surrounded by fields and the mountains in the distance. I bought a big basket of fresh produce and was pleased with the price. I also found out that they sell fresh fruit pies which you order by any Wednesday, then pick up over the weekend. The woman working there was very helpful and nice, and she mentioned some cool events coming up around Thanksgiving like a bonfire and a hayride for kids. I think they plan events all year round. I'm looking forward to going back to enjoy the nice atmosphere, as well as to buy more organic fruits and veg. This is a really great place! read more

Spring 2011 has heralded the reopening of The Farm! There are some changes, and one makes me sad. Sarah, the manager for the last ten years is gone. I will miss her personalized customer service. The Farm has sparse inventory, but understandably, it's early in the season. What I scored were the last few containers of their delightful strawberries. If you haven't been here, I'm telling you that I much prefer these berries over those "famous" ones (name starts with a D and ends with two L's). These are organic berries, baby. Red all the way through. Sweet. Juicy. One of the owners (don't know his name) was fluttering about, and sharing with me hard times were, and that they had to let Sarah go as they were downsizing. Not sure if that was TMI, but I do hope that more folks come out and support this business. It's like having your own Farmer's Market open, six days a week (closed on Sundays). Let's hope that they will keep a good inventory of locally grown, organic product. They deserve to be supported-- much better produce than our big supermarkets. I've been there for Story Time on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and it so nice for kids and parents too. Songs, stories and fruity snack. Then go petting rabbits and goats. Buy some fresh products in the store. Also, we were there last Saturday for Puppets show, a free hayride and a cowtrain ride. It was so fun!! My little one and I enjoyed it so much. read more

I thought that this place was going to be geared more towards children but I was wrong. There are animals but we were not physically able to pet any of them. The only animals we had contact with was 2 cats. There were pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere! Squash too. The inside of the store was nice and I wish I lived here because I would seriously shop here weekly for all of my fruits and vegetables. I bought grapes, pears, and ripe bananas for $9.00. It's all organic and it tastes good. Maybe there wasn't much to do with the kids because it's December? I don't know, I'm from another state. read more

Do yourself a favor and go here before you hit Nob Hill or Star Foods to get your produce. Just do it once and I bet you'll be hooked. It is nice to stop and look at the veggies growing, there is a cute picnic area in case you want to linger and the employees are very casual and helpful. And, although the produce looks fresh at local supermarkets, you KNOW it is fresh here. Spent $15 on two bags of all organic produce. Best deal: RIPE for the eating $0.99/lb organic heirloom tomatoes. They weren't the "I cant even tell that is a tomato" overly ripe or disfigured - I am betting mine last another 3 to 4 days... till I go back for more. Get it! Exit Sprekels Road, right at the stop and drive alongside your veggies towards the stand. read more

Seeing how Salinas is "The Salad Bowl of the World", it shouldn't be a shocker when it comes to finding great produce here. The Farm definitely keeps that expectation going when you see everything they have to offer. Besides...if you're named "The Farm" in this town, you have to represent. When you get into the store front, you immediately see the gorgeous, brightly colored produce in addition to other non fruit/ veggie goodness. Various types of honey, unique little items you can pick up if you're visiting from out of town, even baked goods which are out of this world. Overpriced, and all of my pumpkins a bought from here went rotten/molded very fast. I typically visit the small pumpkin patch off of river road however, this year 2020 they weren't there. Pretty disappointed all around. read more

I stopped by The Farm when we were passing near Salinas after hiking in Pinnacles National Park. Their produce was gorgeous, I suppose what you'd expect in the heart of the "salad bowl of the U.S." The strawberries were without question THE BEST I have ever tasted in my 60+ years of life: firm, sweet, and imparted the most divine fragrance, each bite heavenly. On top of that, the employees and owner were so attentive, wholesome, low key, and pleasant to interact with. What a refreshing experience. read more

My 2-year-old wanted to see "animals" yesterday so we headed over to the Farm. She got to pet the goats, see the bunnies & a little duck swimming in his drinking water. The Farm is more than a good place to go to get organic produce, which is fairly inexpensive in their store--I got an organic yam of all things for $.42! There is little picnic-type area on the front patio where you can sit & eat. We wandered through the store, which stocks all sorts of knick-knacks and even some toys. Through the side patio doors they have added a new (to us, anyway) garden patio. It's complete with seating, tranquil fountains and flowers-a great place to sit for a bit and take a deep breath! read more

My sons class went on a field trip to The Farm today. It is a wonderful place. They have excellent produce and the strawberries are the best that I have ever had. The visit to The Farm started out with the kids sitting down and having one of the ladies explain what fruits and vegetables they grow and the process. She also explained the difference between the two of them. (keep in mind this is a group of 2 and 3 year old, so this step was necessary). The kids enjoyed the demonstration and they got to sample some of their apples afterwards. Then they got to go out and pet the animals, they have goats, chickens, ducks and bunnies. This was the highlight of the field trip for the kids. Once they were done petting the animals they were taken on a ride around the fields on a trailer behind a tractor. After the tractor ride they were allowed to go out into the strawberry field and pick their own strawberries. My son had the best time and this is a great place to take your kids to explore and learn about fruits and vegetables. I will be going here again to purchase more strawberries and other produce instead of going into the supermarket. read more

We went here for a puppet show and that was really cute, my kids loved it. What really threw me off was the fact that I was charged $14 for a bag of grapes, there wasn't anything special about them, the bag was regular size and they tasted like grapes! I didn't realize how much they were until I was totally confused as to why I spent $23 when I bought a $1 bag of chips, small $8 toy and grapes. read more

Pros-cherries were delicious, and "stand" super clean with fresh displays. Customer service solid. Cons- I saw this place advertised under "things to do in Monterey" and took my 9 year old and dog. It's pretty out-of-the-way for an ordinary produce stand, and we arrived to a "no pets allowed" allowed sign. It would be super helpful if that was on their website. Rabbits and goats adorable, but no petting, so overall not someplace we'd go out of the way to stop unless for a special event like described in other posts. read more

Love The Farm. It's so wonderful to go there and get organic fruits and vegetables! This past summer their strawberries have been especially delicious. When you get out of your car, you are hit with the aroma of sweet strawberries. I have bought organic strawberries at Costco and Noble Hill and nothing compares to The Farm. I try and get our veggies for the week from The Farm, it's hard because they are closed on Sunday. (We are busy on Saturdays... gymnastics, soccer, kids birthday parties....) I usually have to go after work on a weekday, which is a bummer because my son LOVES to go. He loves all the animals. It's awesome that they have goats, sheep, chickens and rabbits there. He also loves the ducks... but they might just be guests. Overall, The Farm is Fantastic! You can't get all the fruits and veggies that you might want because they stock what's in season. But you know there organic, fresh and delicious!! read more

Easiest place around here to shop direct from the grower (for the most part). I prefer the farm stand in watsonville, as its smaller and you know everything is from the pajaro valley, but the farm has a better selection and has fun kids activities like the pumpkin patch and the bunnies. read more

I love taking my children here because they have organic strawberries and we can each pick the specific ones we want. When I get them from the store sometimes they aren't sweet or have rotting ones hidden in the basket but these have always been very sweet. We also like the activities they have and the animals. I look forward to visiting again! read more
