Downtown (or "uptown" as the locals call it) is as bustling as this town gets, but it's still a bit corporate. Enter the feel good store, located right beneath the town's yoga studio, and my secret hippie ass felt right at home amongst the supplements, loose leaf tea and scented candles. There's a little outpost to get tea and cookies in the back, with an incredibly warm proprietress. A cup of tea before yoga is just enough and feels totally perfect. read more

I LOVE THIS STORE! I am so happy to see that it has continued to thrive over the years with a loyal customer base and an incredibly sweet natured and knowledgeable owner. There is quite the selection for whatever your heart could desire, whether it be incense, "gentle wake" zen alarm clocks, yoga supplies, chemical/preservative free toiletries, alternative literature, luna pads, and of course a lot of organic this-and-that. The owner knows her stuff inside and out and is warm and bubbly. She is I feel one of the biggest draws to the store too. She feels like the kind of person you want to get to know over a cup of tea... and lo and behold, she has a tea room out back! Would you like a cookie...? They have those too. Prices range from surprisingly cheap to moderate to "omg-I-can't-believe-I-just-spent-$300-on-a-whim" splurges, depending on what you're looking for. Hours tend to be the average 9-to-5-er that you see in so many shops in the uptown area, which can make it hard to get there during the day but she is open on Saturday also until 4pm. Just echoing the other reviews - the name of the store says it all, and the owner of the store is fabulous! She is extremely helpful, upbeat, positive and outgoing. I was trying to decide which of the numerous, beautiful, wonderfully fragrant and colorful handmade glycerine soaps to buy, and I was clearly having a difficult time (in a good way!) trying to decide which one I liked the best. She very kindly offered to help, which I fully appreciated, as it can take me forever sometimes to make a decision. As she was handing me soap after soap while providing very helpful details of each fragrance, she could not help but notice that I kept hanging onto / would not put down the Amber one. She lightly brought it to my attention with a nod to the soap and commented, "I think that one is calling you!" and I burst out laughing because it was true! I decided to buy the Amber soap. She wrapped it up for me, and the soap is now a delightful souvenir of my husband's and my visit to Saint John. read more
