Came here for a quick drink after dinner and I thought it was a nice experience. Look for the neon cat sign outside and follow the stairs down. When we went (Thursday around 9PM), it was pretty empty. There was a DJ spinning vinyl records which was cool! There's only one room with very few tables, so I would recommend you only come here late at night to dance & stand around. Service was fast and friendly. I cannot recommend the San Franpisco Punch enough-- it was the perfect blend of sweet and citrus!

Cocktails were made well and the bartenders were great. Very intimate setting, but still great for dancing. Limited seats. Tables available for reservations. Would def come here again!

I was very excited to try this bar out since they serve Asian-inspired cocktails, had cool mahjong tables, and is a speakeasy. But unfortunately my experience on a Friday night there was not what I was hoping to expect. Upon arriving, there is a tiny floor when you open the door, before you take the stairs down. On this tiny floor are 2 bouncers, one who checks your ID and one who collects cover. Cover is $20 per person after 10PM, which is quite ridiculous for what I will explain more of. Plus, they did not check our bags or have a handheld metal detector for security measures. That's not safe for a bar that hosts night events and more people than the capacity it should. As we got downstairs, the entire bar was nice but unexpectedly small. There was a DJ for the night, reserved tables, and a tiny dance floor. A lot of people crowd around the bar, so there's a line of people waiting to order drinks. As the night went on, more people came and crowded in. It made it hard to get to the bar to order more drinks and go to the restroom. A lot of people were unintentionally spilling drinks on others due to the dancing crowd and lack of space, which was not fun at all. The only positive thing I could say so far about this bar is that the drinks were not too bad. I ordered a Stray Cat cocktail for the first round, then a San Franpisco cocktail and Boba Cheeky for the second round. The Stray Cat is more spirit forward, the San Franpisco is more on the sweet side, and the Boba Cheeky shot was exactly like drinking boba which I liked. It seems like they just opened not too long ago, so I hope they improve in the future because I think it has potential. But I don't think it was worth a $20 cover charge

The security guards at the entrance were very friendly and welcoming, which set a great tone for the night. We didn't have any food this time, but the bartenders were friendly, attentive, and made great drinks. Prices felt pretty standard for SF nightlife -- shots around $6 and cocktails up to about $18. The DJ started up shortly after we arrived and added a fun vibe to the night. Overall, Felix is a great hidden spot with solid drinks, a cool atmosphere, and great service. We'll definitely be back!
I finally got to check out this speakeasy type bar after it has been on my list for a while! Stopped by early on a Saturday night and likely was still able to snag a table. There were only a few tables/seating areas because the space is pretty small, but not too cramped since there are so little tables LOL The stairs leading down to the establishment aren't lighted the best - so be careful on your way to and from the bar! The bar was lit up with a few neon signs and a lot of Asian inspired decor. A DJ booth was stationed in a corner right across from the bar. Since it's such a small space, things got loud fast, so I imagine this spot to be more of club-esque scene than a bar. For food, we ordered the Salt & Pepper tots, Bo Kho Bao buns and a Yamanashi highball. The Salt & Pepper tots were piping hot, but missed the mark on the taste (it 100% could have used more salt and pepper). The Bo Kho Bao buns were good though: the meat was soft and had great flavor, and the deep fried steamed buns was a great vessel for the meat. The Yamanashi highball was also just OK: I was missing the flavors advertised in the menu.
3.5 stars Judging from appearance and the cool secret passage, the Felix has so much promise to be one of the best bars in SF. As much as I wanted to love this spot, I think my experience was not the best. Being the sister bar to Bodega, I had high expectations, but the drinks were not doing it for me. Every drink was served up and they were very sweet and tasted like a cosmo. Almost every drink tasted like a cosmo to be honest. I tried the Tom Yum Chex mix and that was really tasty and the bartenders were really nice and quick. Additionally, the dj was good but the audio in this space is somewhat muffled. Overall, I would love to try this place again but think they need to improve on some things.
The opening theme around a certain cartoon cat is amusing. And the means of access certainly fits with how modern speakeasies want to create an aura of exclusiveness. I just wish there wasn't a door-person (for security in the neighborhood) who was so helpful to the clueless. The atmosphere inside is dark and glowing. A DJ keeps the mood energetic. No one will greet you but once you walk up to the bar you are treated well. The bartenders mix well thought out and crafted cocktails. The only thing missing is the food. It's hard to settle in and progress to two or three drinks with only a bao slider or chex mix as choices. Maybe it's an intentional choice. You want to eat some modern Vietnamese at Bodega but you have to waitlist - so you choose to head here instead of being put on ice waiting on the street? Maybe. Still, it's worth a visit.

Stopped in here on a Wednesday night after eating at Bodega next door, and did not realize there was a free comedy show happening. There weren't that many people, but almost all the tables were filled. We grabbed some drinks at the bar and sat on one of the couches. Comedians were pretty decent and it definitely made for a fun date night. Drinks are DELICIOUS. Would highly recommend the lychee martini (Roses are Red, Violets are Blue) and milk tea shooter (Cheeky's). Genuinely some of the best drinks I've had.

I enjoyed The Felix - a new upscale "Asian" themed "Speakeasy" in the TL. Imagine mahjong tiles lined up as coffee tables and Chinese characters in neon lights on the walls. Really set the scene like you're in a romantic 1930s style Shanghai nightclub. To enter, press on a photo and the door opens to a stairwell that takes you down to the underground party. The downstairs however is NOT a speakeasy at all, it's basically a modern day night club/lounge, with a DJ, bar, bottle service, etc. Altho it caters to a more "grown up" clientele vs the likes of Temple or Yolo, it was still very lively and people were pretty "lit." So if you're looking for a date spot or more quiet place for deep conversations, I'd suggest going elsewhere. We came with a big group on a weekend and it was pretty packed. We reserved the two tables towards the back and ordered bottle service. The bottles were "reasonably" priced, there is a 2 bottle minimum per table, IIRC a bottle of Tito's was $300, champagne $100. If you are planning a bday party with a big group, this is a great place for it. The service is okay, they brought over the first bottle quickly but we had to repeatedly ask them for more glasses or make additional orders, they never proactively came back to the table to ask if we needed anything else or helped to pour drinks. Everything was on theme, even the cocktails came with an Asian flair. Each cocktail was about $20, expensive but standard prices for SF. They also have a kitchen in case you get hungry amidst the debauchery -- order the tots, they were pretty good. All in all, I liked The Felix and will likely come back. If you're ever in the mood for interesting cocktails and adventuring into a sexy and cozy club/speakeasy hidden in the TL, then come check this place out!

Love the classy ambiance of The Felix. Dark room downstairs that always books great djs. They got air conditioning down there which is nice. Their bartenders are kind and special drink menu is thought out and unique! read more

Visited The Felix Speakeasy while staying at Hilton Parc 55 and loved how convenient it was--just a quick two-minute walk. We decided to stop by for a round of drinks and ended up really enjoying the vibe. The cocktails were Asian-inspired, which made them feel unique and a little different from your typical bar menu. There was a DJ playing during our visit, spinning mostly R&B, which set a great mood for the night. It felt relaxed but still lively. By the time we were heading out, there was already a line forming outside, so it's definitely a popular spot. Great little find if you're in the area and looking for a fun night out with good music and creative drinks. read more

The ambiance is on point! Love the lounge vibes, and the DJ plays a lot of boppers. The mahjong table is very fun! The menu is a fusion of Chinese and Vietnamese flavors. The Felix is a speakeasy located under Bodega SF, and the entrance is the door to the right of Bodega. Upon entrance, you will be directed to press the picture, which opens the door to the basement. Very fin! I got the Bohemian Rhapsody, which caught my eye because it uses song cai, a Vietnamese gin. The gin is very floral, and you can really taste it in the cocktail. My friend ordered the Roses are Red, Violets are Blue cocktail, which was very fruity (lychee) and perfect for those who prefer sweet drinks. I saw a table near me order the Felix Swizzle, so I had to try it and it was very refreshing! As for the food, I loved snacking on the tom yum chex mix, and the soft shell crab pineapple bun sliders were very satisfying! Worth trying! The Felix is definitely the spot where all the cool kids hang out. read more
I have seen this cute speakeasy on social media and I was in the area so we stopped by. The decor and aesthetic of the place are on point. The entrance is interactive and decorative. I would describe it as upscale. The space is small but fun. We didn't order any bites this time. We sat at a table and a server came by to take our order. We ordered drinks and hung out. We got the mezzanine, San franpisco and espresso cheeky. Tasty, not too strong. DJ played good music. Wasn't too crowded. Next time I'm here I want to go to Bodega and the Felix. read more

New speakeasy, with an awesome ambiance, great food and drinks, amazing art, and great music! They literally JUST opened! Stay tuned for their hours of operation. The owners, Matt and Eugene, do a great job combining their Asian backgrounds and culinary experience into their drinks, food, and style of the place. They worked with their SF community to make it happen! I was here in their soft opening, where they had these Banh Mi-like soft shell crab sliders on Chinese pineapple buns -- to die for! There was furikake chex mix, with that salty/sweet mix we like! Come by and see for yourself! read more
I was really excited to try this place! But sadly I feel like my experience was a miss :( We came to eat dinner at Bodega and there was a bit of a wait, so I thought it was the perfect time to try out The Felix since it's right next door. Pros: - Servers are very nice. There are some more experienced bartenders who know more than others. - The front of house at Bodega is connected, so he personally came to grab our group when our table was ready, and took our drinks directly to our table. - I liked some of the decor! Like the neon sign. The lighting was a good vibe. Cons: - The space feels weirdly laid out, like it's not being used effectively. There were only about 8 people inside and all the tables were basically taken, so we stood at the bar. This feels like a big limiting factor for popularity. - The "secret entrance" felt kinda cheap and not well decorated. They kinda just slapped some frames on the wall and called it a day. - My friends weren't really a fan of their drinks, and both cost $17-18 (pretty small). The bites were the soft shell crab buns ($16) and chex mix ($5). The shooters were also $8-9 each. - The space was oddly super cold, not helping it feel cozy. Personally I don't think I'd come back specifically for the Felix, only if I was going to Bodega. read more
Like another Yelper said, there is not enough seating and layout is slightly limited. Come early or else you won't have a place to sit and crowd the bar area. Music was cool. Vibes were nice. Lots of neon signs and unique drawings for decor. Drinks were alright. Very limited menu. I wished there were more enticing items to order from. Also, didn't help that it was slightly on the pricer. Soft shell crab baos were good but don't think it's worth. But I needed some food with my alcohol soooo. P.S. I just ate at Bodega beforehand. Don't get me wrong.. service and hospitality was on point. Everything else was just ok. Would suggest coming just to check it out at least once to form your own thoughts and opinions. read more
Such a vibe! Ordered the Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue; the lychee flavor was yummy. Kinda tasted like a Ramune! There was a live DJ playing house-ish music and remixes of fun, throwback songs. Had to stand but there are a decent amount of seating areas. Highly recommend! read more
This place is so cute! Came here for a girls night and got here around 9 so we managed to snag a table. The security guard checking our ID's was so sweet and even helped us get a good video of the door opening which we appreciated. The drinks were pretty good and we ordered their Asian chex mix to snack on. We really wanted to try the soft shell crab baos but they didn't have them anymore. I would honestly skip on the food unless you really want a snack. The drinks were better. DJ arrived around 10 and the vibes were good as people started to flow in. read more

This new speakeasy style bar just popped up! Came here around 8p on a friday with some friends. Glad we came early. The way you get in is to figure out which photograph on the way to push. Once you push it in, the door will open. You walk downstairs and it leads to a small open space. If you don't get here early, good luck finding a place to sit. The decor is really awesome but I think they could have done a lot better with their space. They have nice seating all along the wall, but then 3 randomly placed small round tables with stools. One of the small tables had 1 stool because it was taken by larger groups. We got lucky and managed to snag a table along the wall! They also had a DJ playing some edm and some old school hip hop & r&b. By the time it was around 9P, there were a lot of people, mostly standing in the middle of the room, waiting for people at the tables to leave. To order, you have to go up to the bar. They won't bring you your drinks. They only have 2 different kinds of snacks. We weren't going to order anything but then we saw tom yum chex mix, so we just HAD to try it. I have to admit, it tasted just like tom yum soup! At first I didn't know what to think, but then I found my self liking it more and more! We ordered 2 two drinks: San Franpisco: This was a fruity drink, but I thought it was a little TOO sweet. But still tasty. I had to sip it slowly because by the time I got near the bottom, I needed a sweetness break. Espresso: I'm not saying we ordered an espresso. This is one of their drinks, but it's small. It's put into a glass sllightly bigger than a shot glass. It was SOOOOOO GOOD! Flavor was perfectly balanced. 10/10 recommend. read more
New speakeasy that just opened up next to Bodega SF! The speakeasy itself had a very fun entrance and the interior was beautifully decorated. Seats are limited though so I would come earlier to snag a seat... otherwise, standing at the bar is also not a bad option!! We got the mezzanine, felix swizzle, and roses are red violets are blue. Of them all, the felix swizzle was my favorite with more of a tropical flair. The mezzanine was way too strong and bitter... I wish it was a bit more refreshing! Roses are red, too let's are blue had a sweet lychee flavor and came with lychee fruit, so this one deserves an honorable mention. I will say that in general though, all the drinks tend towards the stronger side. They also have some small bites as well -- sliders and tom yum chex mix! Nice ambiance and great decor, although I do wish the drinks were a bit less strong and bitter, and slightly more smooth. read more

We came here last night after watching the MJ musical at the Orpheum - it was not what we expected, based on the reviews, but we liked it none the less. Pros: excellent cocktails and good music/DJ (including many hits from the early 2000s). I loved my Felix Swizzle! Cons: cover charge to enter, pricey drinks, took a long while to get a drink at the bar, very loud, somewhere in between a club and bar, and NOT what you expect when you hear "speakeasy." read more

I highly recommend The Felix for anyone looking for a casual date night or catch up with friends because the ambience was laid back and the music wasn't too loud. The bartenders were knowledgeable and friendly in recommending and servicing speciality cocktails. Seating was a bit limited so I recommend avoiding peak hours but they had a good mix of bar seating and sofa booths. The cocktails were delicious, well-prepared, and reasonably priced at $16. The Little Buddha Lager beer bottle was relatively unique and they had a selection of Asian beers. The mahjong tabletop was also very unique. read more

Fun little speakeasy in the heart of union square. There's one dj and around 4 tables--small and intimate space. The crowd was pretty young until 11:30 and it cleared out a bit. I loved their drinks! They are so unique. The red roses lychee vodka was fantastic, certainly on the sweeter side. The San Francisco pisco sour was an interesting combination of strawberry, blueberry, and hints of dark chocolate. We tried a good 6 drinks on the menu and they were all very well made. It was pretty busy when we got there around 11, so it took a while to order and get the drinks. However, the staff was very accommodating and very thoughtful. read more

Nice little bar/speakeasy! Asian themed, cool vibes/ live dj (a bit on the louder side for a speakeasy in my opinion) and casual, cozy seating for small groups. Ordered the lychee martinis which were pretty good. One of the newer spots in SF, worth a try! read more

I heard this was a speakeasy so I went to the bar before a concert. It's under the restaurant Bodega. You press a picture on the wall and a door opens. You walk underground to the dim lit bar. A DJ was playing and the drinks were pouring. I didn't get to check out the art closely but you can see them just by glancing around the area. I also met the friendly owner and we took a shot together. I tried the lychee cocktail and the crab buns. All were really good. I would definitely come back. read more
I've been waiting to check out this new speakeasy. They are same owners as Bodega SF which is right next door. I'm loving the continuation of Asian inspired flavors in their cocktails. They serve a soft shell crab sandwich with bo lo bao (pineapple bun) and it is very good. If you're thinking about ordering it, just do it! I like to order the highballs, I've tried them all. They've managed to collaborate w/ some well known DJs which has the space feeling like a club at times, but i'm not mad about it. If you're looking for a new place to check out or can't think of a place to go I highly recommend. Saw this place a couple times on social media and my friends and I wanted to try it out. I always wanted to go to a speakeasy and this was a cool experience! It was definitely the Chinese-Viet inspired drinks and food that got us pulled into this place. They have a really unique menu of drinks and food. One downside about this place was a small food menu. I tried both things on the menu (bao and Chex mix) and they were both good and really unique. If you go you should definitely have some of their food. Great vibes overall. They have a DJ playing music, mini booths and a few tables. It got more crowded as the night went on so if you want a table, definitely go earlier. It might be easy to miss but it's underneath a restaurant called Bodega. read more
