Fire Crab is hands down one of my favorite spots for seafood boils! The sauce is perfectly seasoned, rich and flavorful without being overly salty. Unlike some places where I leave feeling bloated, I don't get that way here. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, which is harder to find than you'd think. A lot of seafood places tend to overcook shrimp, making it rubbery or soggy, but Fire Crab absolutely nailed it. And the garlic fries? Insane. They definitely do not hold back on the garlic, which I loved. The garlic noodles were also incredibly buttery, flavorful, and downright addictive. What really made our experience stand out was the service. We came with a large group, and the owner was so sweet, attentive, and welcoming throughout our meal. It's clear they genuinely care about their customers and making sure everyone has a great experience. Great food, amazing service, and consistently delicious flavors. A decent, fire 'boiling crab' type spot in the Garden Grove area when you're craving seafood boil or anything "fire-tastic." The seafood tasted really fresh overall, and the sauce was flavorful, and packed with seasoning. It was a little on the thin side since I like it thick and it couldve used a lot more garlic. We got crawfish, shrimp, and oysters. The crawfish were decently sized -- a few bigger pieces mixed in, but mostly medium-sized. Still, they tasted fresh and the flavor was really good The Kumomato oysters were just okay. I've definitely had fresher, colder oysters elsewhere, but honestly, I don't come to a shrimp and crawfish boil spot expecting right outta the water oyster bar quality. We got the oyster sampler half dozen. You could taste how fresh it was and it did not upset my stomach. We ordered a combo which had snow crab legs, peeled shrimp and crawfish. We also ordered garlic noodles but I felt like the garlic noodles were too sweet and not savory enough. We did have to remind them about your garlic noodles since they forgot but it worked out in the end. There's never a wait here and staff is very attentive. I decided to try this place out cuz it caught my eye. Prices are pretty decent and portions are huge for 2 people. My friend and I got a pound of shrimp each with fire sauce along with some Cajun garlic fries which were my favorite. We also got their garlic noodles that we couldn't finish. This is my favorite seafood boil restaurant in Orange County! Yes, more than Boiling Crab, Kickin' Crab, and other competitors. I think that Fire Crab has awesome service (shoutout Toan!!!!) and awesome, consistent food. I love the sauce here, which is abundant with fresh garlic and packed with the right amount of spices. There's also always very good attention to fresh seafood, especially the clams. OMG the clams here are always huge, fresh, and succulent. Huge lot with plenty of parking in the same plaza as Star Kbbq and Red Castle. I went yesterday on a Tuesday evening and there were plenty of seats. Only 1 big party seated and others came in as we ate. We ordered 2 of the combo #1s: (2 lbs fresh crawfish, 1 lb head on shrimp, fire sauce, spicy) (1lb fresh crawfish, 1 lb head on shrimp, 1 lb mussel, fire sauce, medium), garlic noodles, and jalapeno poppers. We wanted frozen crawfish in 1 of the combos and clams, but they were out of both which was a bummer but fine. So we settled for mussels and I was expecting the green shell but once I saw it was black shell I was content. The flavoring of both were the same besides the spice levels. I also ordered a side of fire sauce in x-spicy. The fire sauce flavor is fire! I loved it! Not watery, not sweet, and not salty! I loveee how they didn't fully chop their garlics so there were a bunch of huge chunks inside. The spice levels were nice and bearable and you can taste the different levels. They always have live crawfish when no one else does!! I drive all the way from RSM to come here, it's so delicious. The fries, soft shell crab, oysters, everything is perfect!! Also the sauce is so good, it's not oily it's actually saucy. Crawfish is also never over cooked. Some places have mushy crawfish if over cooked, this has never been the case. I've been coming here for a while and initially really loved it, which is why this is disappointing to write. Unfortunately, over my most recent visits, the quality has noticeably gone downhill. The lobster tail was overcooked, rubbery ,and had an extremely fishy taste. I also paid extra for live crawfish, but they did not taste fresh at all and had a bluish color to them. From what I understand, that can sometimes indicate they were previously frozen and then cooked, though I'm not 100% sure. Regardless, the quality was not what I expected, especially for the price. I've been in store and have ordered from them a handful of times. This recent order was for oysters and crawfish and it was not only delicious, but I was surprised at how large their oysters are! I got their dove oysters which I was surprised to find out were as large as my palms! The oysters were sweet and creamy which paired well with their hot sauce, lemon, and cocktail sauce. I was really impressed with how they packaged it for delivery. I also couldn't resist ordering a pound of their crawfish with all spices and extra spicy. I love how their crawfish retains so much flavor in the body and appreciate the savory and slight hint of sweetness in their sauce. I had frozen crawfish once many years ago, and will never have it again lol. Anyways - onto the experience. The Service: We were greeted as soon as we walked in. We got there around 3:30 or so, so not busy as it's not normal lunch or dinner time. Which was great for us! We were seated right away. We ordered a Diet Coke and water for both of us to start off. May I add that our server was so attentive. While we were eating, when he noticed our drinks were less than half way full, he would automatically come by and offer to refill our drinks. He did also check on us to see if we needed anything and asked how the food was multiple times throughout our meal which I liked. We felt like our business was appreciated. Too bad I didn't get our server's name. The Food: We didn't order the Cajun fries, but the table next to us did. And when the server brought it to their table - ugh. It smelled so good! We were craving crawfish last night and have been wanting to try this spot so we stopped by last night. They have a great selection of drinks that includes sake, soju, beers and alcoholic teas which I don't often see at crawfish places. We had their medium level crawfish and shrimp boil, hammersley, Fanny Bay and Kumamoto oysters, and Cajun garlic fries. We also had the Dynamite oysters. Unfortunately, I was too busy being in the moment and didn't get pictures of the food but they were delicious. The oysters were fresh and the house sauce for the crawfish/shrimp delivered just enough kick for my liking. I only stopped and took a picture of the oyster shooters because they were amazing! Often times places that do oyster shooters put the oysters in the shot glass itself. This place separates them which gives you an opportunity to enjoy the fresh oyster first before washing it down with the sake. I'm surprised we haven't previously had a chance to try this gem. Cajun Garlic Fries: 3/5 Came out fresh and crispy but honestly bland. I didn't taste the cajun seasoning and wouldn't order again if I came back. Combo 1: 3 lbs of crawfish, Fire Sauce, Spicy. The spice level was about a 6/10 for me. I had to ask for the extra spicy sauce on the side ($3), which added a bit of a kick but was more of a nose burn than a flavorful heat. One of the corns didn't taste as fresh as the other one but they made up for it by giving us an extra sausage haha Freshness: 5/5. I ordered 2 pounds of fresh crawfish, and fresh crab legs. Oh, besides the enormous raw oysters we had that were the freshest and sweetest we've ever had. The crawfish were soooo delicious, I was going to take some home, but ate every single one of them. I can't even tell you how amazing they were! Soooo good & fresh. My husband had the fried soft shelled, crab and sweet potato fries. Delish!! I kept stealing his fries and I don't even like sweet potato fries. This truly is one of the best seafood restaurants I've ever been to. We live in Calabasas and that's quite a drive to this restaurant, we will absolutely be back. We've been loyal customers of this restaurant for quite some time and have always enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, and the overall experience--until our most recent visit. Unfortunately, this time was completely overshadowed by a very loud and intoxicated guest who appeared to know the owner or staff quite well. From the moment we sat down, her voice and laughter were overwhelmingly loud--so much so that we could barely hear each other at the table. Her laugh was especially piercing, and the volume genuinely made it uncomfortable to sit through our meal. As the evening went on, more and more people showed up that she seemed to know, and with each new arrival, her volume increased. At one point, a group of women were seated at the booth directly behind us, and she brought her wine glass over to them and stood right next to our table, carrying on an extremely loud conversation. What shocked us most was that no one on staff said anything or made any effort to address the disruption. It was hard to believe, especially considering how many great experiences we've had here before. We were honestly baffled that her behavior was allowed to continue unchecked for the entire duration of our visit. In hindsight, we wish we had asked to be moved to a quieter section of the restaurant, but we were also hoping someone from the staff would intervene. We're sharing this because we genuinely like this place, but this experience really took away from what is usually a relaxing and enjoyable evening. The sauce on the shrimp was supposed to be a combination of all their sauces, but lacked flavor in every aspect except for the chunks of whole garlic in it. I was looking for a shrimp boil and saw this place. I chose this place because they have a convenient online ordering where I can pick up my order. The difference between this restaurant and other similar restaurants is that you do not order by pound and the corn and sausages are add ons with additional cost. I ordered shrimp and corn and it cost me $27 which is not bad. I was able to turn it into 3 meals which is a plus. Also I had ordered my food and they gave me a time range but then text me 15 minutes earlier saying that my order was ready for pick up. I ordered my shrimp with all of the seasonings and medium for the spice level. Medium was a little too spicy for me but I enjoyed it. Next time I will try mild and see if there is much of a difference. The shrimp was tasty. There was big chunks of garlic in the bag. The corn was tasty as well. I saw the ad on instagram and being from houston texas (where viet Cajun cuisine is extremely popular!!) I had to try. i'm extremely homesick missing crawfish season and looking for that flavor im used to. I decided to order on uber eats and i loved it ! I believe it was a tad overdone but i think that's just due to getting seafood boil delivered but I have had other places in the area where they came nice and soft (but don't get me wrong, the flavor did not compare to The Fire Crab). Even so I really enjoyed it, it's probably the closest place so far to flavors from home. I definitely want to come and sit down in the restaurant to try next time. This place is also the most reasonably priced for live crawfish compared to many I tried here in california, even though what i'm used to is usually around $9 a pound but that will never happen in California so i'll take what i can get! read more
