    Fish burger - 8 NZD

Great little joint, a short drive from the main downtown of Taupo. Cheap & delicious. The fish was clearly very fresh, and fried to perfection. The fries were thick cut & delicious as well! We ordered the fish burger (awesome), and an order of battered red snapper and a full size of chips, as well as a side of tartar sauce. Enjoyed everything very much. Heads up you have to pay extra for all sauces, but it's not that big a deal as the baseline prices for the food are already a great deal. Super popular with locals, there was a nonstop stream of people coming through, lots of them had ordered ahead of time. They have WiFi, and two sets of tables out front, though you could also drive up the road and post up at any of the numerous picnic tables with a lake view!

Family operated restaurant, a literal child brought some of our food out. Food was good, relatively speaking. Veggies were super fresh. My tummy was happy.

I was visiting New Zealand with my Mom and just rolled into Rotorua, extremely hungry…read more.. practically starving. I was recommended Eat Street for a variety of restaurants, so I check it out. There was a good selection of restaurants there, and definitely lots of happy hour choices, but nothing intrigued us. My Mom was after veggies, so I Yelped for Chinese food. There was only a few selections (only a handful of people use Yelp here). The one we chose was closed for a month for family holiday. Luckily, while I was driving to check out another spot, I came across an entire street of Chinese restaurants (Amohau St, Rotorua). There was 3 to be exact and we wandered into each one to have a peek at their menu. We chose to eat at Golden BBQ Seafood Restaurant and I'm super gad we did! The restaurant was well lit and spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful. The dishes were a good sized proportion. We ordered 2 dishes with a bowl of rice and were super stuffed after. 1. Four Season Green Beans w/ Beef & Mushrooms 2. House Special Deep Fried Tofu w/ Green Onions Everything was DELICIOUS!! Being Cantonese myself, I must say, they had their flavors on point! Bravo. It's rare to find good traditional Chinese food when on vacation. Overall, we were very happy with it dinner experience here :).

After checking out Kerosene Creek, we were looking for a place to eat lunch. My dad wanted fish and…read morechips so we decided to drop by Devon Sea Foods. We dropped in on a Sunday afternoon (around noon). Quite a few people were getting takeout, including us. The inside is cramped with only a couple chairs and no tables so it's strictly a to go place. The menu has quite the selection including a mix of seafood, sweets, burgers, toasted sandwiches and miscellaneous. There's also a few different combo options (ranges from $12.00 to 35.00 NZD). The $3.00 to 5.00 chips is an extra cost but only if you want an additional scoop. The combo no. 1 to 5 are smaller options ($7.00 to 10.00 NZD). One lame thing is you have to pay for the sauces. It's $0.50 NZD each for ketchup, tartare and aioli sauces. They're of the squeezed variety. - $20.00 combo - 3 fish, 2 sausages, 2 crabsticks, 6 battered mussels and chips. This was more than enough to share between the three of us. It's nicely packaged up but man, it's greasy. Fish was okay but a tad dry; it needed to be dipped in the tartar sauce. The best was the battered mussels; big and fresh. Next best was the sausages. Chips weren't crispy enough and not well seasoned. Cheap place but greasy. I don't get why fish & chips is so popular here.
