I was pleasantly surprised by the food...as you will see below. Atmosphere: Hip-hop, R&B and rap music, and pretty loud inside once you walk in. There's a jazz band on some days of the week, so I can imagine it being even louder. And it is highly decorated in themes of the sea, which is cool, but almost over saturation. Service: Our server was trying hard. Almost way too hard. Came out multiple times and just gave us extra waters 'just in case'... wanted to retrieve one of the plates of a companion who went to the restroom... but he did make two grave mistakes: 1) told us a special that they no longer had available (fried softshell crab), and 2) told us a dessert (cheesecake) that they no longer had available. This is a must-do in restaurant service! Check your stock! Otherwise, I was very very impressed with the food. I got the Seafood salad, which had perfectly cooked/marinated salmon, scallops, and shrimp, over a bed of mixed greens, with a side of strawberries, cantaloupe, and tomatoes. deelicious. My husband and I eat here all the time we haven't been here in a while. Our server was Krystalyn and when we first got there we have not sit down yet. Krystalyn ask what we want to drink and my husband knows what he wants but I don't know what I want yet. I pick the sangria. What can I say about this local hangout? The ambiance is very social and the live band is awesome. The drinks are stiff and priced well, but the food (on a busy night) takes a long time. They used to do all you can eat crab legs and shrimp, on certain nights, but I'm not sure if that is still a thing. It is usually packed, wall to wall, with all of my uncles friends who couldn't wait until I turned 18. Saying things like "you shole done grown up gal"... For a good local mature place to hang out and have unproblematic fun, The Fishmarket is it! There's free parking, good enough food (plates are sized really well), it fills up quick, so on a busy night you may find yourself without a table or even a place to comfortably stand. Ordered lunch for an office from here because they requested it. Went in through the restaurant, was greeted by a nice lady. She mentioned the carryout orders are on the other side. I'm assuming someone named Tae, is who puts the order together because as he was walking by, she said Tae, she's here for a carryout order. He straight up ignored her and walked right past me. I've never been blatantly ignored like this at any "reputable" establishment. Fortunate for him I need this food for my lunch otherwise I would walk out of here (they don't have my credit card info.). In the end, Tae ended up being a nice guy and he packed my food well, including finding me a box and offering to help carry it to my car. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE SERVICE. Order was never put in. Waited 30-40 more minutes only to watch the waiter talk with other coworkers over our food. Needless to say, we watched him do that twice to others and finally my husband got up and asked him if that was our food in his hand and to take it straight to our table. Literally, he was talking over with possible spit and germs from both parties flying out in their conversation. Argument pursues...the end, we walk out. Management had an issue with another party with us that did get to eat and literally mess their bill situation up. Honestly, the service was terrible and note to waiter: if you messed up and didn't put the order in, it is your personal responsibility to ensure that the order is expedited and rushed out. Loligagging and making excuses is not a way to fix your wrong and oh, you can't go anywhere in life until you can own up to your mistakes. Waiter's excuse: I have other things to do. Incredible. Lo and behold, they granted us a free dinner after this hooplah. The dinners were a total of almost $50 of the Broiled Combo Platter and Fisherman's platter. I really didn't have high expectations of this place, but was invited for a double date by a couple who raved about it. When we pulled up, the parking lot was packed! We were seated behind where the band was setting up and I was already preparing myself for the worst (fun fact: I don't really love gogo music. Can you blame me? I'm from Baltimore) Anyway, looks can be deceiving because our server was amazing and remembered all of our special tweaks and needs to our dishes. Everything the table ordered was DELICIOUS and my Hennessey and coke was so strong I had to ask for an additional side of coke! Then the band started playing and... I ENJOYED THEM! They were playing all the old school and not-so-old school R&B classics and people got on the floor and started dancing. The owner was on the drums and he knew half of the patrons in the restaurant. So I went to this restaurant Saturday. I heard that the food was okay and they had a live band. When my girlfriend and I entered, there was no hostess at the door to greet us or give further instructions so we waited by an inside counter for around 5 to 10 minutes. Finally a lady appeared. I asked for a table for 2 for dinner. My response caught me off guard. "There are 4 parties ahead of you", she spat out As she walked away. Where's the greeting? Where's the list to put our name on? She did it but there was no warm, fuzzy feeling. There was a lively crowd, dancing and enjoying the band. We were finally seated and placed our order. Waited way to long for the food and drink to come. The food was okay but the drinks were 99 percent alcohol. Horrible! People have to get behind the wheel. What's this place thinking? Checked this place out with my mom and sister this past Sunday the day after my 22nd for brunch. The place had a dive-bar like interior, not the best but it wasn't too shabby. It was early (around 1pm) so there wasn't a lot of people in there, so service was fairly quick. I liked our waiter, he was a pretty enthusiastic and spontaneous person. I didn't catch his name but he's quite the traveler and I kept thinking that he looked Dominican or multiracial lol. It looks like they have late-night music performances on the regular and my mom said that it can be a real full house at times whenever she went. As for the food, I started with lemonade (it was okay, nothing spectacular) and I ordered the Seafood Platter (I believe that was the name) and I had the one with fried oysters, crab cake, hushpuppies, and Cole slaw. It was pretty good, most especially the crab cake! For appetizers, I would really recommend getting the crab dip for the baguette slices and tortilla chips. My sister ordered it and it tasted like HEAVEN!!! It was almost as good as the crab dip served at Jarry's Seafood! She didn't really liked her Sprite though, the waiter/owner informed us that something was going on with the Sprite but he gave her a different drink per her request. Overall, it definitely seemed like the kind of place you may or may not make a repeat patronage, but it was pretty decent. I would definitely come back whenever I want to keep my late-night dining options within the Clinton-Brandywine-Camp Springs area and not opt for fast food. I checked this spot out for the first time on 10/25/14 and from the looks of the parking lot it seemed as though it was packed but upon entering its actually very spacious. The waitress was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed considering we were a party of about 20. I must say if you go make sure you try the crab dip!! Its so delicious. If you're ever up for an adventure, skip the original Fishmarket in Old Town, cross the river, and after about 7 miles you'll be at the OTHER Fishmarket in Clinton, Maryland. It's owned by Mr. Ray's (the original Old Town Fishmarket proprietor) son, Rick. When Mr. Ray died, he left the original Fishmarket to the employees, so Rick went and opened another. This place is fantastic for people watching. It's even attached to a drive-thru liquor store. Where else can you drink giant schooners of beer, play Keno and hear an awesome funk band (the owner plays the drums). Appropriately, they're called "The House Band" and are incredible. This place got even better when Maryland went smoke free. The food is the same as the Old Town spot. But, on Wednesdays they do all you can eat crab legs for $30 and on Thursdays it's all you can eat shrimp. Come here with an open mind and be ready for some people watching. Jay, the bartender, is awesome and very funny. Ask for his namesake drink: Sex with Jay. It will F you up. Also, get the wings double-dipped... they're fantastic. Today, seeking some good lunch, I discovered it is in fact a sit down restaurant and bar. I was directed by the hostess to place my carryout order in the (connected) liquor store. Strange, but whatevs. Had the Captains Platter: 2 fried shrimp+2 huge fried scallops+5 fried oysters+a crab cake+large piece of fish+ plentiful red skin potatoes+2 delish hush puppies+ homemade cole slaw, tartar and cocktail sauce with kick=yessir! The shrimp are large and fried in FLOUR (thank GOD none of that god-awful batter DMV carryouts bred their shrimp in. Why???) Scallops and Oysters are grade A. Crabcake is a C+, but made better by the yummo homemade tartar (and I aint a condiment-ish type chick). (I'm not going to hate b/c I wasn't in love with the crabby patty. I'm not a huge fan of crab in cake form and prefer just lump sauteed....) Four stars because this is probably the best fried seafood dinner (carryout-style) I've had in the area and I WILL be back! My father has been bringing me here since i was little, and have always had good experiences. The food is solid here, as you would expect from a family owned restaurant, that has been established for three generations. They have a band that plays here like 4 nights a week. It gets really busy during the night the band plays. The menu has allot of typical seafood offerings. Nothing special enough for me to mention. The food quality is OK but not awesome. The bar and eating area are not really separated so during happy hours the sit down area can get noisy. Allot of people come here just to drink. its not really a dive bar type crowd, more of an older 35-50 year old crowd. My last visit i had raw oysters, crab cake sandwich and seafood linguine and a 40 oz miller lite. Yes I'm a fatty. Everything was good. The oysters should have been a little colder, but pretty fresh. And the linguine was oily as hell, but really flavorful. The happy hour beer specials are pretty good. You get this massive beer cup for $2.50. I got pretty buzzed off one beer. I will return. Decided to stop into the Fish Market in Oxon Hill Maryland on my way home since traffic was so heavy. I was kindly greeted by a bartender by the name of Jay (make sure you ask for him). Like most confused commuters I had no idea what I wanted, not to worry, Jay mixed the perfect after 5 drink that got me settled. Make sure you ask for the "sex with Jay". As I listen to the constant variety of the latest music, I quickly forgot about the bumper to bumper traffic that the other commuters were dealing with. I don't get how people pay good money for this crappy food and worse for wear service. It's a shit hole! Food was 1.5* worthy only because we didn't get sick. And service sucked but that's because tables of 4 are automatically charged gratuity. We couldn't get an extra plate for the shared platter, which was incredibly small for dinner portions and we had to hunt her down for basic drink refills. The ambiance, what little there is can probably be found under a layer of dirt in this establishment. It's clear the owners could careless about it. Our group of 4 wanted to go to the Fish Market in Old Town Alexandria but this location was closer. Ughhh talk about that detour being a horrible choice. For 86$ 1 basic burger - no cheese upgrade 1 dinner pasta dish 1 seafood platter of random fried fishes n such 1 water 1 glass of house wine 2 ice teas - (1 free refill allowed on each) ------ All that cost 86$.
