Nobody has egos and the staff is personable. I take the Muay Thai classes with Coach Dom and Caine. I like how very detailed they are in explaining and how they correct everyone's technique. I've also learned a lot from my PT sessions with Coach Aaron and Coach Dom. Highly recommend checking out Coach Danny P.'s power boxing classes. I have fun coming here with my workouts because everyone is friendly. The jujitsu mat is the center of the gym so I enjoy watching the students roll. Everyone motivates each other here! This training center is SOOOO clean. They clean the floors, mats, equipment daily. They even have a "living room" area where your kids can play while you're working out, 10/10 Totally recommend! Glad I joined!

My personal trainer Christina Marks is a professional UFC / MMA fighter, and specializes in Muay Thai. I really like her genuine approach at whatever pace I need to start and maintain the training I've been looking for. I can see that is reflected in the other coaching staff as well. The facility is impressive and clean with all the essential equipment needed for training. There's a boxing ring as soon as you enter, boxing bags lined up, cardio equipment, and a lot of outdoor training space. The only challenge I see is the limited parking, and sometimes is used for training. However, there is an adjacent parking lot for overflow.

Originally why I stopped coming was due to how crowded and unorganized it was which was such a deterrent! After the recent remodel with up to 18-20 Squat Racks, additional benches/dumbbells, and more Leg Machines, I started coming here over my favored UTC, but now that UTC downgraded from 11 Racks to 6 and removed the outdoor area in favor of potential Pickleball Courts I will not be going back unless they can bring back what they had before or even better as it's not a great place to go anymore for a Powerbuilding workout. For a Push Pull Leg workout between 3-5 days a week Balboa really hits better now and my only gripes are if they had more of the nice water bottle refill stations and cleaned the bathroom more since people come in from the pool and leave the ground wet, but the plumbing and cleanliness here is still better than at UTC which seemed to not make any changes on that front. If the dumbbells were organized as well that would be great but I can see how hard it is to manage. Overall this is my new home for now and definitely would recommend as it's not as seemingly as crowded before with more equipment availability. 3 stars but I would put 4 if the place itself was more organized and bathroom was always clean and dry!

Well, everyone has been back to the gym with a vengeance for a few years now and they need to open new locations.

Something to note is that there is only one park, so big dogs are combined with small ones. Theres a small obstacle course for dogs to jump and run through. And for the humans, there's also a few benches on the side to sit at.

There are four big pine trees with separate retaining walls around three of them for owners to sit down. With it being so close to the bay, there's often a nice breeze that goes through the park. There's no divide between small dogs and big dogs, so it's best to just keep an eye on your dog, and many owners around here are usually respectful. The street parking immediately adjacent to the park is free, however, it has a limit of 30 minutes, and the parking meter workers are strict on it if they're around. I bring my dog here around lunch time because those who live/ work in the area tend to bring their dogs during their break time and my dog gets his socialization time. They close 8am-11am MWF for maintenance/ cleaning. Currently, both gates are broken so it's not as secure as it should be, and who knows when the city will actually fix it. There're a few agility structures and a water dispenser. The children's park itself looks pretty cool for kids with a lot of structures with slides and swings. There's also another separate area with fixed exercise equipment that looks well- maintained. The water feature in the park is a water feature, not a pool.

Where can you find a large art sculpture and the many areas made of wood and the climbing is for exercise.

Reasons I love the Fit Lab (and why you want to call Sean asap) 1. STATS. The Dunk Test tells all. Total weight is down ~8 lbs in a few months, but I've actually shed 17.5 lbs. of fat and have built 10 lbs. of new lean muscle, which helps burn a ton of calories while I sit at my office desk all day every day. My body fat % is down from 32% to 21% (and I am aiming for 18% in the next month or two). My shape has completely changed, and my clothing size is now an XS in most things - down from a tight fitting Medium previously. 2. Sean P. (owner of the Fit Lab) is kind and intelligent trainer with a solid background in kinesiology. He is also a bad-ass Olympian. 3. The training at the Fit Lab is very UNIQUE. The methods are based on a highly-effective combination of functional/strength-training techniques & physique-defining techniques. Not only will you get stronger and feel great, but you'll also LOOK YOUR BEST. (My husband is achieving a sculpted, strong upper body & abs. I, on the other hand, am achieving lean muscles, flat abs, and a round, strong booty.) Their workouts are specifically designed to make the visual results happen quickly. 4. I get to tell my old orthopedic surgeon that he was 100% wrong when he said I would 'probably never be able to do a squat/lunge for the rest of my life with my knee injury'. I was doing both comfortably - with a lot of weight on my back - this AM at the Fit Lab, just a few months into one-on-one personal training with Sean!! I am blown away by how far I've come. 5. I am free of chronic knee pain in my daily life and can enjoy concerts/sporting events, hiking, swimming, and bike-riding again. Oh, and dancing in stiletto heels all night at 8 weddings this year! 6. My results were incredibly FAST and apparent, so I never worried that it was a waste of time or financial resources. 7. My husband has never looked better or stronger, and I appreciate the extra confidence it gave him - in all general aspects of his life - when he realized what he is capable of accomplishing. 8. I met Sean at my heaviest weight of 270 pounds I was 30 at the time. I did a free evaluation of my mobility, and it was so bad I couldn't walk up the stairs without being out of breath, I couldn't get out of bed without back pain, and I hated every picture I was in. I was put in touch with Sean, and I remember feeling nervous and embarrassed at how fat and out of shape I had become. Sean met me with a sense of humor and positive attitude that seem so often to be lacking in our society these days. I've now done Seans program and have lost 45 pounds, but more than that I've found a gym where I don't feel judged, I feel encouraged and educated. I'm 31 now and weigh 225 pounds and I feel great and have continued to work with Sean to set new goals. I have made friends here and now find myself wanting to do better in other areas of my life from the confidence I have found at the FITLAB. All the trainers and other members are kind, funny, and caring, they want to see you succeed and they want to give you a place to feel unburdened and focused. If you're feeling defeated, if you've tried to do it on your own, if you're like me and you just feel lost as to how to get back in shape the FITLAB is the place to come. I have known Mike for 13 years and can honestly say he lives his life and fitness values with an unwavering commitment to excellence in everything he sets out to do. Aside from being a great trainer, Mike is an incredibly sensitive and caring individual. I can also attest to his professionalism, passion, dedication and knowledge of health and fitness. Mike is extremely well versed in both fitness and nutrition. He explains things in layman's terms and makes goals easily attainable. Mike tailored my workouts to my abilities while still challenging me to increase my flexibility and strength. Workouts were challenging. She makes sure we are maximizing our potential, and minimizing our chance or injury. We started looking for trainers that would focus on longevity and weight training in Nov of 2023 and after meeting with several we knew Laura and Fury Functional Fitness was the perfect fit. She is flexible, personalized and her monthly plans fit into our budget! I have several injuries that have prevented me from lifting heavier weight and I knew I needed someone to watch my form and give me workouts to build up safely. My goal is to gain muscle and recomp (swap fat for muscle!) Kurt wants to lose weight and tone. We have seen progress and we are committed for the long haul. Kurt has never stuck to a gym/weight training program for more than a few weeks, but after nearly 4 months we are both going strong! We also love the other people that we have met at our sessions. It is a great atmosphere where we support each other without feeling overly competitive. Everyone working on their our thing at their own pace...no judgement! The coaches are top-notch, the members are fun and dedicated, and I love the member events and competitions they host to bring the community together. I have sustained injuries and the coaches have been quick to accommodate and help me modify movements to allow myself to get a great workout without pain or further injury. I was also introduced the ATR's in-house physical therapist (Dr. Evan) and he helped me find long-term solutions to significantly alleviate my aggravated back; the pain is gone! Working with Josh has improved both my personal and professional life as I am now more confident in all my interactions with others. When I started working out with him I was trying to move from fast food to mainly frozen options. Today I cook the vast majority of my meals and enjoy being able to share my new passion for cooking with others. Although I still have those occasions where unhealthy, processed foods seem to have an almost irresistible draw, Josh has shown me that I can turn it around immediately and get back to working toward my goals. I am 31 years old and a mother of 4 children. I recently gave birth in August of 2013 and have finally decided to start working out. When I met Michael, I told him what specifically I am looking to improve; diet and which body parts I would like to gain muscle, loss fat and tighten up. He had given me a workout schedule to follow, as well as showing me proper form and technique. He has also given me confidence that I can get to where I want to with hardwork and dedication. My goal is to lose about 10lbs and 5 inches around my waist and gain my favorite body part (my booty haha) back, but with muscle and less fat. Although I have had a few set backs, fighting the urge to eat sweets, I would tell Michael and he would bring me back to feeling confident. Then I snap out of it and go hard again working out and eating better. I can say I am truly sad to lose him as a personal trainer, but I am very thankful that he continues to check on me. Let me start by saying that this is not your typical gym, and these aren't your typical trainers…read more If you're looking for someone to stand next to you and count the number of times you pick up and put down heavy things, or periodically adjust the speed or angle of a treadmill, then find yourself a big box gym and save yourself a few bucks. If, however, you're looking for a holistic workout based on years of neuroscience research, and optimizing the way your brain talks to your body, then this is the place for you. This workout is as much about the "why" of exercise as it is about the "what." It's hard to describe the training sessions in practical terms, as the methods are so novel that saying "we do this and then this" just wouldn't do it justice. With that being said, I'll tell you why I like it: * Dave, our trainer, knows his stuff. He's spent years studying nutrition, neuroscience, kinesiology, kinaesthetics and lots of other big-word-ologies. He takes this knowledge and wisdom and tailors sessions not only suited to your long term goals, but also to your physical/mental condition at the moment. He meets you where you are, and works to elevate you from there. * It's fun. Dave incorporates play and mental stimulation into a lot of the exercises. Rather than working the vestibular system through movements around a visual stimulus, he may change the stimulus to a set of letters, such that you have to come up with a word that starts with each letter as you move through the exercise. It's a lot harder than you'd think, but so much more engaging. You forget that you're exercising! * Dave loves what he does. He's passionate about his methods and an expert in his field. He loves to share that knowledge, too. * Dave's a funny guy. He has a great sense of humor!

I have been exercising and training since the late 90s (not to age myself), and I've worked with 3…read morepersonal trainers, tried every new fitness program from lifting, cardio, circuit training, tabata, CrossFit, HIIT workouts, yoga, cardio, and sports. I've tried all the new circuit classes from Revel Fit, Renegade, OTF, F45, and I guarantee that no one will program or kick your a$$ like Bryan at Versatile Fitness! This is a no-frills, old boxing gym vibe (think OG Rocky) where you come to WORK! Bryan's programming, exercise acumen, and super sets will challenge you, but also be some of the most effective and productive workouts. He has almost every piece of equipment I've seen in a gym from rowers, ropes, barbells, curl bars, pulley systems, sleds, water weights, benches, kettlebells, free weights, Terra core, TRX, bands, discs, and the list goes on. I have attended about 10 classes and I have yet to repeat a workout. It's insane the quality of training and programming you would get through this gym for the price. Anywhere else, it would cost thousands for this level of programming, so anyone who attends these classes is getting a steal of a deal for this type of workout! Classes are 45min, with several stations per class. Each day has a target focus such as pull, push, leg, abs, and/or cardio, depending on the day. The target is there, but you are always getting a decent total body workout. Each station has 2-3 exercises that you do 2 sets per station. You have around 3 people per station, and then you rotate. Bryan goes around to demo each exercise as you move stations, and also has the workouts written on a whiteboard at the front of the room. Bryan will also provide quick corrections, as needed. Please note, in large group class settings, rarely will get you get alot of correction or instruction. It's not feasible to have that much personalized focus in these types of classes. Each class starts with a short warm-up, and a quick cooldown at the end. I have only taken class with Bryan, as he is the staple of this gym. He also has an extensive background with over 20yr of experience and he also offers some nutrition and personalized coaching programs for fat shredding and other fitness goals. This gym is a hidden gem and morning classes are usually full. I am literally perplexed how the afternoon classes are not exploding with members because I have yet to see anyone have the stellar exercise programming and versatility that Versatile Fitness provides. I've seen so many different trainers and attended many gyms, and Bryan's programming is the most innovative and BRUTAL (in the best way), that I've experienced. If you're looking for a serious SWEAT, a great community, and incredible workouts, VF is the spot!

Stay away from this gym if: you dislike working hard, you hate fun music, you want to workout with people who suck. Join this gym if you: want a great workout with no mental effort on your part, you enjoy being pushed to be your best, you want to support a small business instead of a corporate monster. Side note: I appreciate that Bryan the owner places a large focus on finding trainers that are a cultural match for VF. Shregar, Victor, and Mauritzio all bring the energy.
