We stopped in to pick up a nice arrangement for my sister in Texas on our last leg of our journey. I didn't want a Sams Club type of look so I thought, "Let's just see what she has." I found a lovely fall combination but boy, oh boy, did I fall for the old lady decorative pieces she had! I was short on time when we stopped, so we returned on our way home. Left high and dry for my father's funeral flowers - I have used the Flower Shoppe for many years, but after today I will not ever use their services again. I have known the owner for almost 40 years and have depended on her for many occasions to provide beautiful flowers. My father passed away June 28, 2018 and I placed an order with the flower shop for the casket piece the next day. She was wanting the order right away as she was leaving town. Even though I was Disappointed that she was leaving town and couldn't make the flower arrangement herself, as she normally did for me, I felt that she would leave capable people in charge. I could not have been more wrong. When I called the flower shop, I got an answering machine, when I drove up to the flower shop, I saw a sign On the door that said the shop was closed from Saturday to Wednesday. My fathers services were scheduled for Monday, the flowers were to be there today, And the shop was closed. My family didn't know what to do at this point. They were closed and we didn't know how we were going to get our casket piece that we had ordered, or how anyone else was going to get their order taken care of that they had placed or tried to place in many situations. My family received a call from the mortuary. The Internet service that they use to place the flower orders, contracts with the Flower Shoppe as their vendor. The orders were backed up And people's flower orders were not getting placed or delivered. People were trying to call and they were getting no answer. The Internet service did not know what to do. We ended up giving a lot of the orders to Dillon's flower shop in order to get them made up and out to the mortuary. So thank you Dillon's for stepping up and helping me and my family. I continued to try and call the Flower Shoppe and did get a hold of an employee, after intervention from Larrison's mortuary, and she informed me that she had no plans to take the flowers until Sunday, even though my family had asked that they be delivered Saturday. Also, all of the orders that my father's friends and other family members had placed we're sitting in the queue and they had no current plan to address those orders. Lynne left town knowing that there would be more orders for the funeral service, but didn't make any arrangements, she just closed up shop. The worker that I had been in contact with, told me that she could go in and make the casket piece today, but that she had to finish her farm chores before she was able to do that. She asked me what to do about all the other flower orders, and I said that I would like those delivered today as well. Really? She did get the casket piece completed and also got about 10 other orders out and delivered today. She called me to let me know, which I did appreciate however, there are still many more to be completed and she stated they will deliver Sunday afternoon. It is my understanding that they have a very low inventory and there are no blooming plants and just a handful of potted plants along with a very limited supply of flowers to fill our orders. I did speak with Lynne, the owner of the flower shop, and she simply informed me that she had let the Internet flower service company know that she would be closed, however they have verified that she did not. I also ask her what she planned on doing about the other funeral orders that she received, and she did not have an answer for that question. She said "that is kind of how things work in small towns". I beg to differ...it is called customer service. Many of our friends had paid extra to have delivery as soon as possible, and that did not happen. My family was getting calls from people trying to order flowers. We had to embarrassingly say, that the local flower shop, that my family shared a personal connection with from the past, had just closed up shop and left town, and basically leaving no one in charge of my father's service. She had no intention of filling any other orders for my father, as she had closed up shop. She told me she wasn't able to get any more flowers in anyway. I told her that Dillon's was able to schedule a delivery of fresh flowers at 2 o'clock on Sunday. She was silent... I believe that Lynne had access to the same vendors, if she would have cared enough to make the effort. I explained to her that she should not have taken our order if she had no plans to see it through. She didn't care that my family may not recieve sympathies from our friends and other family members for my father's Passing. That is NOT a flower shop that I want to do business with again. I want everyone to be aware that the Flower Shoppe does not always honor their commitments, or make Beautiful arrangements that I read about in the other reviews. She has the corner on the market, and she is getting lax in her quality and in her customer service. She needs a wake up call. Everyone matters... read more
