I chose this place as it was the only thing open when I finished work. All I wanted to do was grab some food and get home to the TV. The menu was very varied, I had a hard time deciding between the Mongolian beef and the satay chicken. In the end I went with the beef. One word. Delicious. The beef was sliced so thinly it literally melted in my mouth, and the sauce was awesome. I have since been back many times, and everything I try is as good as the last. The prawns, in particular, are smashing. I am always a bit iffy of buying a seafood dish in a Chinese restaurant, but the prawns were super big and juicy.

I visited Luyang on Wednesday and returned only three days later. Yes it is that good. While it may not be up to the Shanghai village or Hu Tong standards, the dumplings here are still good and are very cheap. I came here with my partner and we ordered a serving of the fried pork dumplings ($8 for 15 dumplings) and the steamed dumpling combination (around $12), which included a selection of different types of dumplings. The service is charming and the girls who wait on the tables are so friendly and efficient that you just have to sit back and relax. Luyang may not be luxurious or trendy but there is free tea on your tables, and some sweet dumplings are heading your way, so sit back and relax.

Venue is pleasant, features nice decor with a very welcoming host, Francis.  Menu was quite varied with dishes from many Southeast Asian countries. We chose the Phat Kee Mao and the Chilli Prawns, a signature dish, requesting extra spice. Both were served promptly and presented well. The Phat Kee Mao was a little on the small side, but the flavours were genuine, spicy and just what we were after!  Very satisfying experience overall and next time we are in the area we will be sure to drop in again.

It's a local favorite and I have been here quite a few times. The menu is different to a typical Japanese restaurant where they serve lots of dons, teriyaki and noodles and sashimi or sushi etc, instead it's a bit more like Japanese tapas style for sharing. I would like to see more options on the menu one day though and larger serving portions. Most of the time, I go during dinner time and have only been during lunch time on a weekend. The menu changes for lunch and I didn't enjoy the lunch as much as dinner. We had a birthday lunch there and the food took too long to come out and was a bit inconsistent and the tempura was soggy and oily. It's been enjoyable otherwise at dinner time. What I do love is the prawn and avocado sushi rolls that are often served warm which I really enjoy and order every time. The chicken and egg in a mini hot pot is also another item we always order. Gyoza is also quite enjoyable. Serving sizes are on the smaller side so better to order a few dishes to share and order more as you go.

Yum-Yum Bowl specialises in a smooth, thick rice-noodle that hails from the south-western Chinese province of Gui Zhou. I'm not sure if there's another like it in Melbourne, but these rice-noodles are a delicious lighter alternative to the Japanese wheat-flour udon, but have more bite to them than the thin flat rice-noodles you get in a bowl of pho. The soup noodles here come in two varieties - tender fatty beef chunks with pickled mustard greens, or chicken, shiitake mushrooms and bamboo fungus (it's a lot better than it sounds don't worry). If you're tossing up between the two, I'd go the beef as the chicken is a little dry and the shiitake's a little bland as they appear to have been soaked in water instead of the delicious tasty broth. In your dry noodles category, you can go a fiery chilli chicken or a tasty mince-pork sauce. My recommendation is to stick to the pork if you're apt to get the runs from chilli oil. The decor is clean, bright and features some traditional artifacts unique to Guizhou. Well worth a visit if you like your noodles.
