OMG ‍‍. This market at times can be the worst. Now I have to say that they are more clean than the one on 56th St. It don't smell like seafood or raw meat when you walk through the doors. At times the lines are long because there are no other registers open to help get the lines down. You end up having to bag your own groceries all the time. They don't say hello nor greet you when you get to them. There is nobody not even security to greet you at the door. It's hard to find good ppl that know where things are in the store & they work there. They need to do better with their reward system. Ppl don't want to have to spend a certain amount of money to get something free. They should be able to earn points to get stuff free. Every time I do an on line order, I never get all my food. Then when I call to let them know, they have an attitude. They fully charge my card and expect me to just sit back and not complain about it. This service at this location is terrible. My sister warned me about this store. They need to make sure that Door Dash pick up all the items. Stand next to these people and make sure they grab all the bags. Also,when you call the store the phone keeps ringing. Huge market with no soda tax like Philly. They have a nice inventory and actually have a lot of sale items still in stock. The self checkout area works great and gets you in and out fast if you don't have too many items. Clean and bright lighting throughout the store makes shopping a lot more comfortable! read more

This store is a whole hot mess!! it's chaotic, it's dirty and some of the employees act like they just don't know what the heck to do! I can count on one hand how often I frequented this store and each time was a bad experience. I can remember one of the times I went to get a few items. I got to the self checkout and the machine ended up giving me 5.00 change in dimes, nickels and pennies. I had to literally beg for dollar bills and the sales associate acted like I was asking them for too much. It literally took a good 15 minutes for them to try to fix the machine and give me reasonable change. The recent time I went, the sales associate appeared flustered and confused. The floors were dirty and it was trash all over the place. Nonetheless, its fresh grocer, they have great store items and reasonable sales but unfortunately the bad outweighs the good and I rather go to the one on 56th and Market and deal with the panhandling! Used the catering department for my staff today. We ordered turkey and cheese hoagies and buffalo chicken hoagies. $40 for a large tray of 4-5 in hoagies. They were so good. My staff loved them. The rolls were so soft and fresh. The lunch meat was plentiful. They gave us sweet and hot peppers on the side along with tomatoes and mayonnaise. The lady in the catering department was pleasant and helpful. Whenever we have another function for the staff I will leave it in the hands of The Fresh Grocer. I can always expect this store to have what I need. The location closest to me seems to be a hub for loiters and the aisles have more food in shipping boxes than on the shelves. But not this Fresh Grocer. The carts work, there's immense parking and they always have fruit! They have a meat counter, hot food station and a beer/wine garden. It's a nice size store with plenty of lanes and they actually have cashier at the registers. They are always pleasant and helpful which is a plus since grocery shopping can get hectic on the weekends. They also have a bakery for cakes and such and my husband loves the fact that you can get cheap grab legs steamed and seasoned. He gets his favorite and I don't have to cook. So I go to the deli to order my sandwich (Turkey special), the gentlemen finishes up with an order (no problem so far), he opens a jar of sliced peppers, looks at the ticket, walks away and wipes his gloved hands on his shirt and pants the goes directly to cutting the meat. Really nice store. Spacious, huge selection, and everything is quality, especially the produce. Impressive deli, bakery, and seafood sections. Deli attendants are on their game -- very professional service. Fresh rolls in the bin -- big plus! Haven't tried their prepared meals, but they smell delicious. Store-brand fresh-baked cookies are great! Prices are good. Lots of check out clerks, and check outs are always quick, even when lines are heavy. I like shopping here. read more

I ordered platters for the 4th of July which happens to be my beloved sister's birthday as well. The deviled egg platter was amazing. I thought it would be good but it exceeded my expectations. It was very flavorful. I ordered a spinach dip platter. Very good as well but for the amount of bread, the spinach size should be larger but I'm not complaining and would truly order it again. The cheese and fruit tray was delicious. The grapes were very sweet just as I like it. I was disappointed that the cheddar cheese was velveeta. I was expecting sharp cheese and if I ever order the platter again, I will request sharp cheese. Velveeta tastes good melted, it not a cheese I want cubed in a cheese tray. All in all my experience was good and if it wasn't for the velveeta cheese, I would've given my review 5 stars because I had good customer service as well. read more

I did a self checkout this this morning and took $10. out. I forgot my money and left the store. When I where I was headed I realized that I left my money behind. I came back to the store and explained to the the young lady who was working the self-checkout area what happened. The first thing she said that she could not take the money from her register. I completely understand this; however, I still need my money. So, she takes me to the security office to verify if I'm telling her the truth. And he reviews the video and verified that the lady behind took my money. So, she says again, I can't take the money from my drawer. Again, I understand this. So, get your manager. She gets the floor manager who says the same thing. Ma'am where is your manager. Long story short, I called corporate while I was there, and reported the situation. The young lady on the phone took my information and stated that she did not understand why they just would not give me my money, especially since they verified that the lady behind me took it. The manager was taking to the owners about it, and their response was the same. Very nonchalant and matter of fact. So, as they started to walk away I called them and asked what their policy is. And he told that, "we are not responsible and out of the kindness of my heart l could give you a $10 gift card to use in the store". I told him to keep his gift card. And left. So let's be clear, I felt like they did not give a fuck about me as a recurring customer and my current situation. And yes, while I was forgetful and left my money behind. I would have felt like a valued customer had they actually shown concern and was apologetic. No, my mistake was not there fault. But, the customer service is lacking. If the conversation from the very start was..."I'm so very sorry ma'am, yes we do see that the lady behind you took your money from the register. However, we cannot give you your money back, but can we offer you this $10 gift card..." would have been much better customer service and showed that they actually value the neighborhood their market is in and are not there solely for profit. The managers wanted to fight also, because we wanted double bags. I get excited when I come here to shop because unlike a few other stores under this same umbrella they typically have what I'm looking for.

I haven't shopped here in over a year. Today I wanted something good to eat and remembered their hot food is usually good. I got 2 pieces of fried whiting and scalloped potatoes. The potatoes were good but the fried fish left a lot to be desired. It was fried really, really hard and there was barely any actual meat on it. Definitely not worth it. I'll eat from here again but next time I'll try something different. The store looks great and workers that I interacted with were pleasant. read more

I've been going to the Fresh Grocer in Upper Darby since they opened. In my opinion it's not as friendly anymore and it's falling off due to ( SOME) Ghetto, Classless, Careless uncouth employees who don't take their job serious. As GOD is my witness, every time I go to that particular Fresh Grocer and try to get Luncheon meat at the Deli there's a problem pretty much with one female individual that works back there and I end up not getting my luncheon meat due to some very disturbing things such as; shes never wearing a hair net or wearing gloves and she's ALWAYS! ALWAYS! ALWAYS! eating the luncheon meat and licking her fingers with her bare hands and slicing meat and packaging it and putting it in the case window. I complained to the Manager. The second time a month later I was in line and told other people to watch what she's doing and they were outraged and changed their minds. She cut my meat up I told her what she was doing and I didn't want it and told her she didn't even wash her hands after I saw her touching her face, trying to sneak eat the luncheon meat. She had the nerve to look confuse and another co worker tried to tell her in a discreet way what she was doing and we saw. I just Iwalked off so did others. I complained to the same Manager once before and he said he will handle it. I didn't go there for like 2 months. I go there there yesterday low and behold I seen her there, but I stood by the hoagie part to just watch all their movement over there before I ordered and OMG the same girl was at her old tricks with a twist. still No hair nets ( none of them) NO gloves( only her) she's eating the luncheon meat again as she was packing it to put it in the window case again. The twist is she rubbed up her nose with her left hand so slow and nasty as if she was wiping away snot, then she rubbed her hands together, and started pinching on the meat again eating it while packing it. I was with my 10 year old son. I told him to look what people do. He was disgusted and outraged. ( it's covid out here and other things). SMH. I tried to sneaky video her, but she caught me and was startled for a minute, but then she sarcastically gave me a wave like I see you and she started to slowly sneak her gloves on and get into work mode. She seen me outraged and once again I worked my way over to customer service to report it to Management. This time it was a different Manager and she was female. I gave her the details and told her I complained before with the same individual and she's still here up to her same tricks putting people health at risk. I told her I don't like playing with people lively hoods or complaining, but enough is enough. I told the Managers, if you guys have cameras please I beg you to just look at them, I'm not making this up. She has not be reprimanded because she's still there doing the same nonsense or just like the customers she has no respect for Management and does what she want to. PEOPLE please watch out for these type of people. Don't be afraid to ask people to wash their hands, change their gloves, put on a hair net ETC. and unfortunately for what you don't see what's going on just be sure before you eat to always always remember to bless your food and say your grace! I remember when this Fresh Grocer (421 S. 69th St., Upper Darby, Pa)was introduced to the community. It was very nice, as new things usually are. I haven't been at this particular location in some time. Well, today I made the mistake of going there. I was in the area and I needed a few items. To my disappointment, this store was in the worst condition that I've ever seen in a supermarket. The store was dirty, especially the floors. I walked pass an end cap display of Ragu sauce. An entire box of sauce was broken and all over the floor. No one came to clean it up in a hurry, as I've seen done in other well-run markets. As we all know, this pandemic isn't over, yet the employees in the deli seem to think wearin a mask under your nose is acceptable. I can go on with other disappointing things that bothered me at this market, but I think my point should be understood. I'm in this market at least 3-4 times a week the least you guys can do when a new sale starts on Sunday is have the prices in effect! I'm an early morning shopper I'm happy this place opens at 6am but if you know that new prices start on Sundays why not have the new prices already filled in and ready the night before? Have a night crew that does that instead while I'm shopping the old prices get swiped out with the new. I worked for them for over 10 yrs & I know the attitudes,laziness & inconsideration for customers & their time would never have been tolerated!
