This place is the worst place I've ever been too. We waited for 10 mins to get service then they forgot our drink order. We order food at 5:40 and ended up walking out at 6:25 because no one had come to check on us. All of a sudden as we were walking out our food was ready so we got it to go. This place used to be our go-to after a hike at Silver Falls, not sure I will be back. We stopped by on a not too busy afternoon and took a seat outside, after I bussed my own table. Apparently you order at the bar now and they bring you your meal. We were seated and at 45 minute mark we still did not have our two meals. The servers were very nice but seemed very discombobulated and the system they have going on does not seem to be working for them. My fish tacos were dry, my husband said his sandwich was OK and the fries were good. The bathrooms were gross in both the men's and women's, smelled they had not been cleaned in awhile and the floor was sticky. Nice ambience outside on a pretty day, but I just don't think I will be back for this level of service and quality of food. read more

For the random traveler for a celestial event, The Gallon House pulled out the red carpet and let us enjoy the event with Bloody Marys, Tequila Sunrises and VERY filling breakfast items. Coming out of lockdown, my partner and I ventured into Silverton en route to spending some time at the Oregon Garden. Pleased generally with Silverton's approach to Covid safety and, in particular, with the way The Gallon House handled spacing, etc. and the food was excellent! Great grilled burger and a quesadilla type entry called chipotle triangles. Very good! Nice folks, terrific outdoor seating on a nice sunny day. Highly recommended! Back a second time. Still nice folks and good service, but quite disappointed with the ahi tacos. Smothered in a sweet almost syrupy sauce that overwhelmed the ahi. Although there were a few pieces of lettuce on the tacos, not nearly enough, especially with all the sauce. Also, taco chips that accompanied the fish included a large quantity of red chips, obviously dyed. Did not work with the ahi. Overall, pretty unhappy with this offering. Visiting from California and found this place after a hike to the south falls. Our server Devon was awesome, on point. Super personal and knowledgeable of beers. I gave 4 stars because they were out of the steelhead I really wanted to try. I got the wild burger and it was far too much to finish. My daughter got the Mac and cheese and i got to taste, so good. This place is a blight on a very nice town. It has a great location but that's about the only positive attribute. The bartender frequently over serves customers. Last time I was in some tiny little girl who looks maybe 18 was just completely drunk and being loud and obnoxious. But she kept being served. The service is always very slow. The bartender spends more time hitting on the girls then being a bartender and helping the rest of the customers. Advice, don't serve customers who show signs that they have already been drinking. Cut off or 86 the obnoxious ones that can't hold there liquor. Spend more time greeting new customers in and making sure the staff helps people who have not been helped. This bar is trash. read more

Since it had been toasted on the grill, I suspect it was left over from something else. Ordered a sandwich with prime rib in it to go. The Gallon house has good things but over all I am not pleased due to the servers and inexperience of wait staff that I have ended up with. My feeling is the staff make enough in the hourly wage that,they don't put emphasis on a good attitude in hopes of a tip. Yet another crappy customer service experience at this place. I keep trying to go back every 3 to 6 months hoping the service is better and every time the service is horrible. Pretty busy when I walked up, bit there were a few empty tables. I went to the hostess desk to put my name on the list. They took the name of the person in front of me and then walked away. OK, I can wait. Then they walked by me 10 times before even making eye contact, let alone saying they'd be back. Finally one of the waitresses mentions they'll be right back. We left before even being greeted...because no one ever did while we sat at the bar. I completely understand if it's busy and there's many patrons to attend to, but when there's 3 staff that walk by you without a hello or I'll be right with you AND there's less than 8 customers in the bar, there's a problem. So we solved it ourselves by taking our business to another local bar down the road. The food, salads and big pretzel with house made beer cheese, was delicious and the beers delicious and inexpensive. The highlight though was our server Lilly, friendly AND knowledgeable. The reason we go to a specific restaurant is for quality we have received in the past. 40 minute drive for the WRONG THING, and a changed me u...so the items we expected were no longer on the me u did not thrill me. They have many different beers on tap and their inventory is always rotating. There kitchen always closes early so this is not a place to go to for a long night out. I have been there at least ten times and have gotten food twice. This is including before COVID-19 and all the changes restaurants had to follow. If you want food go around dinner time. Came here to meet up with some beer friends. We walked in spotted them and started to head towards the table. And the wonderfully rude hostess started yelling at me my wife and two kids. So that sorta sucked as the whole place turned and looked at at us as we repeated that we were sitting with them over and over as she got louder. As we sat and looked at the menu we ordered some beers and chatted a bit, ordered some food which took a while to come out for a place that was not full. We ordered a second round of drinks my wife's beer came out with what looked to me like mold from the keg lines from lack of cleaning. So the fun gets better at this point. It was a hot sunny and we were out in the sun and a few empty table were out there as well, so we moved a extra umbrella over to our table cause the one tiny one was not covering most of the people at the table. But here come the loud mouth hostess again telling us how we can't do that and how we could have got hurt. At that point we were done with this place and paid up and left. The food was mediocre at best. Could have been that I ordered the wrong dish. But none of the food seemed made from scratch as their menu claimed. The service was pretty slow. The food here is really good, and I really like the atmosphere. Service is great especially in this Covid time we are in. I had the prime sandwich which was really really good, and my husband had the all he tuna which was cooked to perfection. Kudos to the chef he did an amazing job. There was one employee that was hanging out, not working, which was kind of ruining the atmosphere a tad. What happened? This place used to have decent drinks, tasty food and great staff . Now, not so much. The beer list is still decent and the mixed drinks are passable but the food is way over priced and for the amount of staff working there, the service is really, really bad. We gave the place a try a couple of times for dinner but both times left because after we were seated we waited for 10 minutes and nobody came to the table, not even with water or a menu. If there is a manager, I don't know what they do because they're certainly not managing the staff - they don't seem to know who should be doing what and one of them seems to be employed just to eat food food and talk to the customers at the bar. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was phenomenal !! The staff there was a 5 STARS !! We saw how busy they were at the bar, in the kitchen and at the indoors & outdoors dining areas. Been coming here for a few years now. There was a period of time that the service and food were outstanding. However over the last year it's been a steady decline, especially in the quality of the food. My wife and I went recently for a date night and the service was terrible. But what was worse was the food. My Gallon Dip meat was old and over cooked, so basically dry. (Over the last year I've had to ask twice for my Au Jus to be heated as it has come out cold.) My wife ordered the Blue Cheese Bacon burger cooked medium. First it came out covered is so much As she was eating it blue cheese she had to scrap half of it off. As she began eating the burger she realized it was raw. But she'd already taken bites. Within 30 min she was throwing up and had food poisoning for the next day and a half. My recommendation, I'm sorry to say, is do not go here. Not until they get experienced cooks and better quality food. If all you're looking for is beer: perfect spot.
