I found this place by accident and i was so pleased to see that they had a bunch of hard-to-find plants that were on my plant wish list. The inside of their store was clean and organized, and the flow was nice. There were cats that lived there so initially, i thought i was dying from some kind of plant allergy but realized when i was checking out there was a kitty sleeping on the counter. Some things were kind of pricey (pumpkins), but that's to be expected at a store like this. I'll be back the next time i get an itch for a new house plant :) read more

Wonderful!!! Absolutely a myriad of indoor, outdoor, exotics, plants of all types from incredible double/triple flower begonias and many shades of violets to unusual succulents and even air plants. Furthermore, they have every type of growing medium in a variety of sizes which is so helpful because you do not have to purchase enough to plant an entire field. The quality and health of the inventory is blooming and bounding. So healthy and well potted so they will definitely survive the trip home, changing temps, etc...to carry home and do your thing. The establishment is clean, well lit, laid on in a manner which is logical, facilitative for perusal and purchase, and pleasing to the eye. They also have such necessary and delightful accoutrements to take your garden creations, gifts, etc...to the next level. The staff, including their 2 sweet and well mannered canine honorary staff, are professional, polite, and cordial. So, so different from our experiences with the large, well known Sam Bridge place in Greenwich where the staff view and treat the clients with such disdain. This is not only our experiences but actually those of no less than 8 others that I have spoken with over the years. I actually enjoyed my several visits to this special garden center and did not dread having to deal with the staff every single time after our first visit. You can have the best garden center in the world but if you view and treat your clients like dirt they will eventually find a place like this where you can have it all!!! Most highly recommend. I was going to list the name of staff who have helped me on multiple visits but then I realized that every single member of the staff at every visit have been so very helpful and pleasant that it would be redundant and an even longer review. And keep in mind it did not matter whether I purchased $1500 or $150, their professionalism and friendly sincere smiles were constant. This includes staff at every level. The only thing I can think to improve upon, of course, would be prices could certainly be lower. But, you do most often; pay for what you get and their inventory is superb, and is that not the same everywhere? Trust me, you will not be sorry. Most highly recommend! read more

I asked for potting mix and the lady just continued to try to sell me potting soil. After I repeated myself twice and directly stated that I need potting mix instead of potting soil she didn't change her attitude or back for one inch and started to asking 'what are you growing' back and forth with me. Really annoying. What a condescending tone and treating customers like they are idiots. You know what ? Amazon sells the 2 cuft potting mix 13 bucks cheaper than their store which is about 20 bucks and Amazon ships for free ! read more

My favorite place to shop for houseplants! They have an an amazing array from cheap to rare and trendy, with prices in line or cheaper than other local places I've seen. Jaime did the flowers for our wedding at the Waveny House in New Canaan, CT and she did a fantastic job! Everything looked perfect and it was just what I wanted... and I'm amazed at how identical the alter flowers looked compared to the Pinterest picture I gave her. She did a fantastic job at decorating the church and the reception. She was so professional that she was in and out at each of the locations before I showed up and I'm sorry I didn't get to see her and thank her for all of her wonderful work that day. I would highly recommend using her for wedding church, personal, and reception flowers in the Darien/New Canaan area! read more

Helpful staff and a nice selection of outdoor plants, even today in the middle of the summer!

I wish negative stars was a choice as that is what this place deserves. I ordered a $73.00 flower arrangement (with vase included) through FTD. They used The Gardener's Center & Florist to deliver the arrangement. The arrangement that they delivered was about 1/4 of the arrangement that was ordered. It had about 6 flowers in it and the rest was filler - greens and baby's breath. The flowers came in a little box, no vase - and they were half the length of the flowers in the ordered arrangement - they also delivered the flowers on the wrong day. I understand they might have to substitute flowers/colors - but this was nothing like what I ordered. And since it's Valentines day, I find it hard to believe they were out of all red/pink flowers! The arrangement they sent was worth about $20. When I called FTD to complain - they called the Center and told me the Center refused to send the appropriate comparable arrangement - they would "send a few stems over". I have been on the phone with FTD for three days now- they tried to rectify the situation with the Center to no avail. While I was on hold for 45 minutes with FTD, the recipient called me to tell me the Center called twice within 5 minutes to come and take the flowers back!! Have you ever heard of such a thing!! How embarrassing is that! I called the Center and spoke with Kathy who said she was aware of the situation. I told her not to call the recipient again. That I would have them put the "4 DAY OLD FLOWERS" outside tonight. She made no apologies for their extremely poor customer service - or for her rude behavior of calling the recipient for the flowers back. I have never, ever heard of a florist calling a customer to come and take flowers back!!!! 4 days old!! The recipient wasn't even aware all of this was going on and was quite confused and insulted. I understand mistakes can be made, but a reputable business would correct the mistake and try to satisfy the customer. There was not even an attempt to do this. They obviously never thought I would know what they actually sent and that I would be none the wiser. I just happened to be on the phone with the recipient when she arrived home to the delivery, one day earlier than it was scheduled. Most people never know what was actually sent to their recipient when they send flowers...this is a good example of how you should follow up to be sure you weren't embarrassed by the local, shady florist. And be careful - if you receive 6 pinkish/purple short stemmed roses in an arrangement in the next day or two - they could be recycled from the arrangement they "took back"! read more

I just had flowers delivered to my wife. I needed them delivered quickly and nothing but the best would do... A very nice arrangement was delivered very quickly... So quickly I wouldn't want to put them on the spot and specifically say how fast they were delivered (It was like they were already there). However the best part was how nice the delivery person was to my wife, his friendly conversation made her day and mine. read more

Incredibly rude experience at Gardener's Center today. I called ahead of time to ask about having some of my plants repotted. I spoke to someone who was pleasant and told me to bring them in. However, when I came and went to the counter, the owner of the store first says to me, "You couldn't repot these yourself?" I said, "No, that's why I brought them in." Then, "Well, we're really busy here, we don't have time for this." And I said, "I didn't say I needed it done right this moment." Then he pulls out one of the plants and says to me, "You see how dry this is? This is bone dry!" at which point I pulled the plant away from him, and said, "Look, if you don't want to do it, I'll take it somewhere else. You are extremely rude." I then walked across the street to Nielsen's, where I was treated very nicely, and they were more than happy to repot my plants for me, and did so on the spot. I will never step foot in the Gardener's Center, ever, ever again. read more
