    Large screen

This must be the smallest Picturehouse in London, just one main screen and a tiny foyer, and the tinest Ladies. Very close to Notting Hill Gate Station, so very good location. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Seating is not tiered, so could have heads in your way.

Clearly an old, decadent theatre conversion, the room is very ornate and plush.

Screen 8 where we watched the movie was a large theater room, which is what you want for such an action movie I think. Boyfriend pointed out it wasn't edge to edge (so there might be even better options out there), but I didn't even notice that before he mentioned it and thought the huge screen and great sound system did the job. Sound was loud enough without being deafening, so just right imo. The seats we got were in the very center in front of the walkway (so no rows of seats in front of us, yet we're not too close), which I would absolutely recommend!

Given that, I can't see why Vue is worth going to. I didn't realise before coming here, but a standard ticket on a Sunday afternoon was £12.99 in what must have been one of their smaller screens. Come on. Bear in mind we're not in zone 1, Leicester Square premiere central. I can think of several cinemas that would do far cheaper tickets (obviously especially if you go on their deal days), but also, if you do want to spend over a tenner on a ticket, then for goodness' sake go to an Everyman or something. I think that's about £1.50 more expensive and you get a sofa and a waiter, plus there are a couple pretty close to this Vue. (Nevermind paying £8.99 for a popcorn and drink.) The screen we were in was also really odd - it was a large screen but only four rows of seats, and they were very close to the screen itself. It was quite hard to actually see the whole screen because we were so pushed up against it. It didn't make for an enjoyable viewing experience. That was also only once we got into it - the movie started late because the lights were off, the place wasn't set up, and nobody knew why. Pretty weird and overpriced place.

One of the oldest and first cinema's to show film in London. I actually went to see a double bill of Hitchock. They seem to have a few good arthouse or classic double bills which breaks the mould. Lovely seats and setting. Screen not huge so anywhere from rows 3-10 I reckon are best. Don't go too far back if eyesight is not good. Because of the grand exterior and interior it gets a high mark. Coffee nothing to shout about but saw people getting wine but must say they need more seats around foyer as no where to sit behind 15 people I reckon. That they can improve on.

Before the days of TV, the cinema would show newsreels during World War Two, bringing news to Londoners whose loved ones were away fighting in the war. Owned by the University of Westminster, right next to the university near Oxford Circus. A 119 year old building, it was used by the university as lectures hall for the past 30 years, and has recently been rebuilt in an art-deco style and re-opened to the public showing independent and art house films, a place for film events, lectures and workshops. More suited to lectures, the seating is not that comfortable to watch a film, but the bar area is nice and spacious with a great selection of drinks around the world, to meet before or after a film.

The kiosk to order items from is mounted very low as if to only serve at child's height. And the prices are higher than ever need to be for the concessions. The film selection and time slots are great I just feel this was a skeleton-like experience that could be great! However, good things do happen here. The online experience was easy to get tickets and we had a great choice of seats and I thought it was wonderful for replacing my champagne that had gone-off. I really appreciate that and know that I will be back to watch films here no matter what.

The recliners are comfortable and always clean, and the view of the screen is good regardless of where you are in the theatre. Sound is good as well. They could definitely improve the restrooms a bit - there aren't nearly enough stalls in the women's restroom for the capacity of the theatre. The lobby area is also a bit lacklustre. They also could increase the number of showings. Some films only have one or two times in a given day and it makes it tough to work within my schedule. With all that said, the cost of tickets on Mondays is a steal and I'll definitely be back.

Maybe this is typical for others, but at this cinema there is assigned seating! There aren't that many seats, so I would advise buying tickets in advance online to get prime seating. We came about 15 minutes before the showing, and all the center seats had already been sold. The theater consists mostly of sofas with some individual seats, so coming in evened number groups seems ideal. The sofas are super comfy! They're so plush and they even give you pillows and there's a footrest that can be pulled out. This was the first movie I saw in London, so I'm not really sure if the screen size is typical. But it definitely felt small by American standards. They also sell different types of drinks and food to be brought into the theater. The menu listed different types of pizzas, and I saw some people bring in ice cream/frozen yoghurt. Overall, I really liked this cinema! The feel is really nice, but it is a little pricier.

The male employee was inside cleaning alone, and we tried to stay out of the way so he could clean the huge mess in our row. My friend even helped him clean up by collecting trash and putting it in the trash bag. There was chocolate smeared on the seats and popcorn all over the floor. There were people in the other rows and he still cleaned their rows. As he left and more people came in, we realized he would not come back to clean our row. I went outside to ask another staff member if they could come in and clean the seat with chocolate smeared because we had to sit on it (it was a full house). She went and asked him and I overheard him say "well they came in early so I couldn't ask them to move so I could clean, so I'm not going in now because there's people there". The staff member came back to me and told us it was basically our fault for being there early and apparently "in the way". We didn't mind the mind the popcorn on the floor, but the seat was unable to be sat in. She told me we could move to the front, but those seats are priced at a lower cost than what we paid for. We just sucked it up and sat on a shopping bag, but I hope this employee never works a day in customer service ever again.

However my fellow Qypers I just wanted to share the traumatic ordeal I experienced at Vue cinema in Sheperds bush screen 6! I arrived into the movie pretty late so i sat near to the front with my boyfriend. whilst watching the movie I noticed a dark shadow move across the cinema floor. At first I ignored it cause I didnt want to jump into conclusions. Not until when the cinema was slightly brightened and I saw a rat yes a rat! running around freely and I am sure there was more than one. I was not comfortable at all as I was constantly watching the floor and not the movie. I made a complaint to the manager and recieved some compensation but that is beside the point. I paid to watch a with my boyfriend not to watch a movie with my boyfriend and rats! So beware Qypers!
