I asked them to repair a diamond ring, and they did a nice job, so I decided I could trust them to repair my favorite pair of earrings. The only word applicable is...disaster! They called to tell me the repair was finished, but when went to pick them up, the repair was not done as instructed. I double-checked my receipt and the repair instructions were written clearly(by them), they simply didn't do the job. The clerk indicated that she remembered my order and claimed it was her fault for not writing it up correctly; there's no way to tell if it was truly her error or that of the person doing the repair. They proceeded to tell me they would complete the repair, and behaved as though they were doing me a favor, ensuring they would not charge me for additional repair - as if! They called me again claiming to have completed the repair, and I went in to pick up my earrings only to find they had damaged the finish. They tried to pass them off to me as though nothing was wrong. I asked to speak to someone in charge, letting the clerk know that my earrings were damaged. She never let me speak to a manager or anyone in charge, but took my earrings and ensured me that they could fix them. Since at that point they were ruined, I allowed them to try to fix the damage they did. I finally picked them up (now on the 3rd attempt), and my earrings are destroyed. They were clearly not able to repair the damage they did, and again did not even acknowledge the damage; just passed them to me as though nothing was wrong. I will never allow The Gem Shop to touch my jewelry again! read more

I recently got my original diamond reset into a vintage setting I found in the Gem Shop's estate jewelry. I saw the ring while I was in town visiting family, but the rest had to be was done via good ol' snail mail because I had to return home to South Carolina. The staff (Jessica and Carole were the two I worked with) were excellent. I was able to send in old or broken gold jewelry to go towards the cost of the setting, which helped a lot. When I received the completed ring, there were a couple of issues with it. I called, and the staff were eager and willing to take care of it right away. I sent the ring back, they covered the shipping both there and back to me, they quickly took care of the things that needed to be fixed, and got it back in the mail and to my door very, very quickly. As a customer, I know things can sometimes go wrong! Mistakes happen! But it's the way the issues are dealt with that reveal what a business truly is. The Gem Shop and its employees are beyond reproach and truly excellent. Thank you for your great customer service! It makes ALL the difference! read more
